No, visiting visa for first time applicants is always 6months multiple entry whether you are going to spend a day or one month. They did not give you 6months to go and stay as long as you want only if you are a millionaire with unlimited budget, student on summer holiday or a retired pensioner going to see his or her grand kids.
Of course you are allowed to change your travel plan but moving from 6days to one month + your brother issue will be a red flag in your next visa application. Thanks a lot justwise |

maestro03: Truth is, it's difficult to estimate if 1500GBP would suffice for the stated period. If you could shed more light on what you would be doing, if your host would be accommodating & feeding you etc., that may help. 1500GBP over a 1 month period is about 50GBP a day; that is not so bad. However, if you intend doing some major shopping then quite frankly that is not enough.
Let the experts answer this one. I truly may not give the right answer.
Cheers thanks a lot , No shopping oh....lol, my host will accomodate me, but no feeding. i will basically jst be eating, attending tutorials and preparing for exams.. |

thanks a lot @justwise, all your points have been taken, but since my travel date has changed there's no way i can follow what i stated in the application to the letter....
i really understand and appreciate your point of view, but i cant help it, and i also guess that is why they didnt give me 6 days visa because plans can change...lol |

maestro03: Dear Hercules,
Stay true to your application when at the POE if you are not comfortable telling them of your change in plans. However, when you get in, feel free change your plans; just make sure you do not overstay.
When i got my 1st US visa the fam and i decided to visit Florida instead of Philadelphia that was stated in our application. I was also apprehensive but everyone said it does not matter, that plans change. Truly, it didn't matter; i was no queried about my indicated destination. Even when i visit the UK, i don't necessarily state where i intend to stay; i have multiple choices so i use the one that comes to me first.
The point i'm trying to make is you would not be turned back because you changed the duration of the time you would be spending in the UK provided you can afford it. thanks a lot maestro for your contributions.. like i said i had to change my travel date too, but i have a justifiable reason and i had also made up arrangements for my accomodation to cover for the change in plans, although this new arrangements have now cut deep into my finances, thats why i'm asking if 1500gbp would be enough evidence of maintenance for my 1 month stay, that is if i'm asked to show it anyways.. thank you |

Vicjustice: It is OK to change your staying plan or the duration of stay as change of circumstances can justify that. But as for the denial of your brothers, you have to keep on denying that (at least, during the validity of your current visa) until (perhaps) your next visa application. How you will eventually rectify the discrepancy will be on your own discretion: but i must warn you that (as your both brothers are legally in the UK and even hold British citizenship,) it may result to a 10 years ban if the visa officer observed that you had lied in your previous application. Now, if you must declare them in your subsequent application, then, you must establish a reasonable reason that would be acceptable as the reason why you denied having them in the UK previously. Clue and Idea: It is possible that the visa officer will not scrutinize that aspect, and also possible to state that your brothers were in Nigeria or were not going to be in the UK during your visit. Indicate this as additional information otherwise, you would be refused and banned before given the opportunity to explain yourself. Note: Except there are other reasons to suspect you, the visa officer will not go deep into checking your brothers' travel history. Thanks a lot vicjustice for taking time to write the lengthy response. i intend to correct it in my next application, thanks also for the suggestion, i actually honestly didnt know their addresses as at the time i was making the application and though i had their phone numbers, it didnt seem reasonable to just call them out of the blues to ask for the address since we were not on talking terms then. and moreover i couldnt even honestly have been 100% sure they were in the UK at that point in time. i just hope this explanation would sound reasonable to the ECO...lol another thing, is there any chance they might find out about my relationship with them, i mean before i actually officially correct the misinformation myself. and also, will a cash in hand of 1500pounds or debit card be sufficient as evidence of maintenance for the 1 month, i would have paid for my accomodation, and return ticket at the time i would be entering the uk, so the 1500gbp would just be for maintenance...food and movement. looking forward to your reply |

thanks a lot |

justwise: A lot of people have given you a very honest advice, you made a mistake by denying that you have someone in the UK, you should have said yes and point out that you will not be staying with them. You will not be doing your next visa application any good if you stayed more than 6 days as you indicated. Stick to your original plan thanks a lot justwise, about the change in plans, i believe i have a cogent reason for that, as i also had to change my travel date too. though the reason for my travel still remains the same, so i guess that shouldnt be a problem. my concern is if the question of if i know anybody ever comes up, do u suggest i insist i dont, or do u think my explanation would suffice. also, how much cash do u think i should hold, as at the time of my travel i would have paid for my accomodation and other things, do you think holding 1500 GBP would be enough as evidence of being able to maintain my self for the 1 month stay?... thanks for your reply. |

aibisoye: Pleasee stick to your original story. At poe those guys have a computer with all the details you filled. They are just testing you, when they ask you questions. Stick to your hotel when you have checked in your brother can take you anywhere you want to go. Then come back to check out. Don't make mention of any brother at all at Poe.... thanks a lot for your response, point taken. |

princenonny: stick to your story else you will be deported. Dont contradict whay you have earlier said. You can still stay as long as you like once you enter the country provided its within the visa validity period. If they know you gave false information to get the visa, you will be deported. thanks a lot, point taken, will do just that |

hey guys, morning all, you have no idea how many problems get solved here, i got my visa reading and following advices given on this forum. keep up the good job.
i have a concern, in my visa application i stated that i knew no one in the UK, but the truth is i have two brothers, both british citizens. the reason i denied knowing anyone was because we were not in good terms and i went through the application process without involving them.
After getting the visa, my brother called and we kinda settled after some family meetings etc..
problem now is, one of my brothers insists i stay with him for a couple of days and offered to pick me up at the airport. i should also add that i changed my travel plans as i initially planned to stay for 6 days, but now will be staying for a month.
told him about the issue of not knowing anyone in the UK, but he said it doesnt matter and that i should tell them at the POE that i have 2 brothers.
please guys, what do you think as i initially insisted on sticking with my initial hotel reservation, but its starting to look like i still have grudges and that is why i dont want to stay with him and i dont want to start another family fight....lol
i know there's so much "unnecessary" personal information here, but i just thought i should make you understand my situation.
my question ia would it affect me if i state at the POE that i have brothers having earlier stated in my application form that i dont, is it true that it doesnt matter as my brother said?
please i need your urgent responses..justwise, vicjustice, worry, everybody..
thanks a lot |

Dunddy: guys,
I submitted my application 17th april and got a mail today already (28 april) that a decision has been made on my application.
isn't it rather too fast?
my impression is, the earlier you get a response, the higher the tendencies of refusal. could that be true.
pls whats your takes on this?
regards, it doesnt matter, my application was processed and i got my passport and visa 8 working days after submission. i'm a first timer too. tho i had a previous refusal the month before... hope this helps to calm u down... |

Dear Full name,
UK Visas & Immigration has now assessed your UK visa application and made a decision. Your documents and
the decision will be sent back to the either the UK Visa Application Centre where you applied, where we will
contact you by email over the next few days to collect them, or if you are using the courier return service, will
be sent directly back to the address you provided.
Please note that Teleperformance does not know the outcome of the assessment and has played no role in the
decision-making process.
Kind regards,
Teleperformance UK VIsas & Immigration
Do u think I got it? we are in similar situations tho the message i got was AFTER MAKING ENQUIRIES. asking for opinions would just falsely discourage you, or give you false hopes, or confuse you...lol i think these messages are generic and do not have anything to do with the outcome. so i have decided to wait for the outcome. i think you should too... all the best. (however late that sounds...lol) |

Hello guys, @justwise and all, i know this question might sound annoying, and i know the usual rule of collecting your passport before you know the outcome, but please i got this mail recently, and tho i have not received anything from teleperformance, i'm just seeking opinions as to what to expect as i might not have the time to get my passports back for the next one week...thats one additional week of tension, so please help out oh.
Dear *full name
Thank you for contacting the UK Visas and Immigration International Enquiry Service.
We understand that you would like to know about the current status of your visa application. I have tracked the status (GWF******** and date of birth (*****) and found that the application has been processed and it should be with you in the next few days.
Please note that your passport and documentation could still take some time to reach you whilst being sent back from the decision making centre and whilst other administrative formalities are completed. The visa application centre will be in contact with you regarding the collection or delivery. has anybody got this type of response before?.....thanks for your indulgence.... |

good day house, vic justice thanks for the good work, justwise you too, please what is the difference between a letter addressed to the ECO, BHC Lagos, and Entry Clearance Manager, Abuja. Asking because i included a letter addressed to the ECO, but i read somewhere on this thread, where someone mentioned that a letter should be addressed to the ECM. please i'm a bit confused oh, yet to submit my application so i can still adjust it if need be, waiting for ypur responses please. thank you.. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by hercules906: 9:14pm On Apr 07, 2015 |
Vicjustice: I did not suggest that you write "i can't recall", i only said it is ok if someone writes that: it is not an infraction so, you can't be refused a visa because you can't remember the reasons for previous refusals. Yes, the letter will be of help. thanks a lot @vicjustice, you re the best..God bless you. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by hercules906: 3:17pm On Apr 07, 2015 |
Vicjustice: You can either type or hand-write the information, but if you chose to hand-write it, make sure your writing is legible. Look, the question is only inspectional, they do not really need the information, they already know the reasons why your previous applications were refused, after-all, they were the one who refused them in the first place: so, i do not recommend that you write to much details regarding the purpose that you were refused, just KISS the script. KISS means: Keep It Short and Simple. Note: You bother yourself about this particular issue because, you are a novice in this matter, the embassy is only using this very question to interogate naive applicants, you are not obliged to begin to dig out these information: it is very ok to write "I can't recall" thanks a lot for taking time to write d lengthy reply... yes you are right i am a novice in this matter oh..lol considering that i was refused just last month, and that i intend to address the 2 reasons for the refusal in the additional note, i dont think i'm allowed to write 'i cant recall' in the box. lol i just thought i should pick the reasons one by one and explain why i think the ECO dat first refused me erred in reasoning. i am also attaching a letter of leave from my employer which i didnt include in ny previous application. i hope that will serve as an evidence of ties to nigeria. looking forward to your response, God bless. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by hercules906: 11:51pm On Apr 06, 2015 |
Vicjustice: You can use additional paper, just write your reference number on the sheet and attach it to the printed form. There is no special format for this letter provided it is written with standard spellings. Addressing the letter to the ECO is ok, but ensure that you deliver it by hand (not by post) along with your other documents . thank you very much for your response, vicjustice, will do just that. i hope i can type the additional letter or should it be hand written? One more thing please, the issue of the space given for reason for previous refusal, i was refused for not showing evidence of strong social and economic ties to Nigeria, and something about the cost of the trip being more than 3 times my monthly salary. the space provided is not enough to input these, please how should i go about it?... thank you once again. |

i also intend to attach a letter to address the previous reasons for my refusal, is there a particular format for this?.
I have a letter from my employer adressed to the ECO, british high commission, i hope that is the right address.
