Advertisements on federal roads and bridges must be approved by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works.

The minister of works, Engineer Dave Umahi, inspected the Niger Bridge, which had been vandalised and saw MTN and other adverts on the bridge. He ordered that the adverts should be removed and replaced with photos of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

However he later discovered that a previous government had given the advertising rights on the bridge to a private company. It was the company that allowed MTN to advertise on the bridge.

Engineer Umahi said that he paid the private company with his own money in order to erect photos of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima and all the governors of South-East and South-South states on the bridge.

He said that Obidients, who had been complaining about the photos of Tinubu on the bridge, can also pay the company to place their photos on the bridge.

Youths in Warri gathered at PTI Junction early this morning - on Independence Day for what was supposed to be a straightforward 5KM run under the Soft Nigeria is Possible banner. Instead of a simple fitness event, they arrived to find organizers handing out green polo shirts that appeared to feature Tinubu’s face woven into the design.

Many felt they had been tricked into wearing political branding on a national holiday, and the mood quickly changed. People started ripping the shirts apart right there on the road, with some filmed dragging them in a tug-of-war style as they tore them to pieces. A pile of the torn polos was later set on fire while the crowd chanted “Obi, Obi, Obi.”

What began as a planned community run turned into a protest over the branding, with the youths rejecting the message associated with the shirts while chanting “Obi, Obi,” in apparent support of Peter Obi.

It is not the candidates that is the problem but inec. If we start attacking inec officials things will improve.
