From what I heard, ODUs that have hybrid sims (Esim and physical sim) were giving them serious problems, and that's why they have now introduced one that doesn't come with Esim. The new one they started issuing this week has no Esim.

What does that one look like? Same ZTE device or another?

I paid for the odu 18th of this month up to this moment I haven’t gotten is just same story “the error can only be fixed backend “ I don’t even have the odu number or anything even the customer service can’t escalate without the odu number and device number I’m just tired at this point.

Only the shop you bought it from can help you, go there often and stand your ground.

How do we aim for -64dBm? What's the settings?

Log into your ODU router using the ip address. Watch the signal strength, then move the ODU around to get the best location. The lower the number, the better.

It wasn't browsing at all. Everything worked just couldn't surf the internet.

People of God!!!! I carried the whole thing to their office oo and stayed with them till they fixed it. Airtel has serious tech stack issues.

Just got back home and it's working perfectly, getting consistent 50Mbps

The ZTE is better than the ZLT, aim for -64dBm on signal strength and there won't be speed issues.

I believe you're using the esim. That shit can be frustrating.

Yesterday, I turned it on after two days of being away, "no Internet access" was what I got. Fortunately for me, I have the physical sim subbed too and I put it in and it worked well.

Hours later, I removed the physical sim and the esim started working again.


If you have access to the sim port, put a sim card innit while it's on and it will immediately trigger off the esim mode. After a while, remove the simcard let the esim toggle back on. Also try messing around with the "sim switch feature".

Yeah I am using the ESIM version. I have toggled the sim switch option multiple times and it didn’t work.

Will try inserting a physical sim to force it. Funny enough calls and text to the ESIM goes through but data is where the problem lies.

If everything fails today including asking random people to call customer care, I’m taking it back there tomorrow morning.

Call Airtel Customer Service via 300 and ask to talk to their supervisor. Explain to them and they'll either resolve it or give you a timeframe for resolution. Cheers

I don’t have an Airtel number to call with and nobody around me uses Airtel. Will go dump it at their office.

That’s my line of action right now.

Day 11 of my ODU ZTE router not working. Nobody seems to know what’s wrong, Airtel said my line has been fixed.

Thinking I just buy another one because MTN is draining data and I can’t afford Starlink yet.

it's the normal sim but after the swap, it'll turn into that same ODU sim. I'll advise you don't do a sim swap until it starts to work on your ODU. Let Airtel activate it first on their end

Thank you very much, I was hoping the sim swap will force activate the data but I guess I have to wait it out.

Same happened at my end, mine took almost 2 weeks before it started working. I saw on the 10th days of calling and visiting their office, the number of lights on the odu has increased from 2 to 4 which means their is now data network on it, yet it still didn't work. Even from their end, they got no clue on why it's not working.
So I tinkered with it that night, went to the settings, under sim, changed inner(e) sim to external sim and it started working automatically. You might try that and see if it works
Already, have registered for the newer zte because I grew out of patience with it. They brought the white one yesterday and both are working. Have compared their performance. Now I have the older zlt which started working almost 2 weeks and the newer white zte

My interim observation: The older zlt has better IDU, i usually get better upload speeds compared to the newer one. and the range is better, covers every part of my flat. The newer one seems to get better latency for example in CODM, I was getting 32-47ms, while the zlt is a bit higher at 38-50ms. but in gameplay no noticable difference.
Also the zte speeds drop the moment I step outside my flat. Same doesn't happen with the zlt unless I move a considerable distance away. Maybe the WiFi 6 on it has anything to do with that.

In all, I will keep monitoring both performance to know which I will keep.

I have tried the sim switch option in the ODU and it didn’t work too. There is no internal or external option in mine. Trust me I have tinkered with everything. Even Airtel can’t seem to diagnose the problem, I am tired of calling the centre I got it from or contacting support.


I have no experience with the ZLT router but like others on TikTok, they get better upload speed but latency is bad so they have to change apn settings. I got the ZTE white box version so that’s the latest with bigger battery.

I will keep observing this week to see what changes.

This is the one that does not support Netflix right? Get the newer one and ensure 4G is good in your area before purchasing it.

Please does it have to be a data/router sim or just any normal airtel sim?

My ODU router came with the ESIM and has never worked, Airtel keeps saying they are working to fix it but 7 days have been wasted on my subscription already.
