SportsManchester United Reach Agreement To Sign Paul Pogba For World-record €110m Fee by Holargyde(op): 8:08am On Jul 21, 2016
The fee agreed with Juventus surpasses the amount paid by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale in 2013, and the France international will become United's fourth signing under Mourinho.
Officials from the Premier League club met with their Juventus counterparts earlier on Wednesday to discuss a deal to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford.
It is now understood that United have settled on a fee of €110m for Pogba, which eclipses the previous record set when Real Madrid paid €100m for Gareth Bale in 2013.
The France international will sign a five-year contract for the Red Devils.
Pogba had also been linked with the likes of Real, but they were priced out of a move and the France international was happy to leave Juventus after weighing up his options.
The midfielder is said to be ready to accept a €13m annual salary at Old Trafford, which would almost treble the wages he is currently earning at Juventus.
He originally left United for Juventus four years ago due to a lack of first-team opportunities, but his imminent return to the club will cap a busy start in the transfer market for new boss Jose Mourinho.
United have already added Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to their squad, with Mourinho keen to get his major business tied up as quickly as possible.

Education‘Nigeria Loses $91bn Annually To Student Migration Overseas’ by Holargyde(op): 2:28pm On Jul 18, 2016
Nigeria loses over $91 billion annually to student migration to Ghana, United Stated and Canada, President of Inshore Offshore Oil and Gas Professionals Nigeria, Dr. Christopher Imumolen, has said.

He stated this after a brief meeting with the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu in Abuja on the plan of the organization to establish an oil and gas university in Nigeria.

According to him, the university, which will be established next year, would train students in oil and gas courses.
If the institution comes on stream, the country will be saved the $91 billion which Nigeria loses annually to student migration to foreign countries including Ghana, United Stated and Canada”, he emphasised.

Imumolen said, “Nigeria loses over $91 billion to student migration to Ghana, US and Canada. We can save that, we need more universities in Nigeria. We do not even have a university in Nigeria that can train competently oil and gas force.

“We are working to develop and set up an oil and gas university and it is going to be  the first of its kind in Nigeria. It is a private oil and gas university in Nigeria. We are looking at setting up the university latest eight months from now.

“We have universities in Nigeria that are doing their best but they still need to do more. One we are coming to reduce the cost of running oil and gas programs. We are looking at cutting across all courses that apply to oil and gas. The university is also going to cover other courses that relate to oil and gas and non-oil and gas related courses.

“The minister has given us his words. We are not just seeing the minister because we want to boycott accreditation. Obviously we are going to go through accreditation process. We have a very good assurance from him and we are happy about that.

“Onshore offshore is not a university but we have given out over 2000 scholarships to individuals who have studied critical engineering and oil and gas related courses.”

In his response, the minister encouraged the idea but advised that Imumolen should fine tune accreditation processes with the National Universities Commission.
SportsXavi: No One Will Ever Match Messi, Not Even Ronaldo by Holargyde(op): 1:51pm On Jul 18, 2016
XAVI: NO ONE WILL EVER MATCH MESSI, NOT EVEN RONALDO

The former Barcelona midfielder believes football will never see a talent like the five-time Ballon d'Or winner again, insisting his closest rival is nowhere near his level

Barcelona icon Xavi believes no player will ever be able to match the ability and achievements of Lionel Messi, insisting even Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be compared to him.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is considered by many as the greatest ever having enjoyed a glittering career which includes four Champions League crowns, three Club World Cups and eight La Liga titles.

While Messi failed to add an internatioanl crown to his honours list, he guided Argentina to three consecutive finals; losing out to Germany in the 2014 World Cup before twice being beaten by Chile in the Copa America.

The latest defeat prompted Messi to retire from the national team and, despite that black mark on his career, Xavi insists he is easily the greatest player the game has ever seen.
"For me, there is no heir to Messi," the former Spain international told Sport. "There will never be one. There will be very good footballers, but nobody at Messi's level.

"To be at the top for so many years, winning so many individual and team trophies, will be impossible to surmount.

"In the future, everything will be more equal amongst the best players. Though now they try to sell the story of the battle between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, those of us who know football, know there is no comparison.

"When Messi ends his career, there will be Neymar, Eden Hazard and five or 10 players at a similar level, but none with the unquestionable superiority of Messi."

Messi is expected to extend his contract with Barcelona in the coming weeks and his former team-mate feels the club must do everything they can to keep him happy in the aftermath of his conviction for tax fraud.

"He is still the best in the world, making the difference and putting it in the top corner," he added.

"He is happy in Barcelona, I'm not saying he's not bothered by some off the field issues, but on the pitch he is still the same player.

"It is great to have Messi, and he needs to be kept happy and content. Above all, all these issues need to be resolved as soon as possible, so he can start from a clean slate.

"But really, it doesn't affect him. If there is someone mentally strong, that person is Messi. He has overcome it all."

EducationBill Gates Commends African Youths Innovation by Holargyde(op): 5:30am On Jul 18, 2016
Philanthropist and Founder of Microsoft, Mr Bill Gates, says the power of the youths in Africa should be harnessed and their ability to drive innovation must be encouraged and given an opportunity to thrive.

He was the keynote speaker at the 14th Annual Nelson Mandela Foundation Lecture in Pretoria, South Africa, where he acknowledged some young Africans who have created groundbreaking innovations.

Mr Gates identified economic, social and health challenges prevailing in the continent as some of the factors that could hinder their development and that of the future of Africa.

He emphasized the need for African leaders to multiply the talents for innovation by the whole of Africa’s growing population, and that depends on whether all of Africa’s young people are given the opportunity to thrive.

“Nelson Mandela said poverty is not natural, it is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.

“We are the human beings that must take action and we have to decide now because this unique moment won’t last.

“We must clear away the obstacles that are standing in young people’s way so that they can seize all their potential.

“If young people are sick and malnourished, their bodies and brains will never fully develop. If they are not educated well, their minds will lie dormant. If they do not have access to economic opportunities, they will not be able to achieve their goals,” he said

EducationChina's 'good Will Hunting?' Migrant Worker Solves Complex Math Problem by Holargyde(op): 5:13am On Jul 18, 2016
Beijing (CNN)A Chinese migrant worker with no college degree has found a solution to a complex math problem -- in what appears to be a real life version of the Oscar-winning movie "Good Will Hunting."

Yu Jianchun, who works for a parcel delivery company, said he'd always had a passion for numbers and has created an alternative method to verify Carmichael numbers.
His solution amazed academics, who said his proof was much more efficient than the traditional one.

"It was a very imaginative solution," said Cai Tianxin, a math professor at Zhejiang University.

"He has never received any systematic training in number theory nor taken advanced math classes. All he has is an instinct and an extreme sensitivity to numbers."

Carmichael numbers are sometimes described as "pseudo primes" -- they complicate the task of determining true prime numbers, which are dividable only by 1 and itself. They play an important role in computer science and information security.

Yu worked on his proof during his free time while building a new home in his village last year.

"I was overwhelmed with joy, because my solution was completely different to the classic algorithm," said Yu.
Yu Jianchun sent a letter in May to Professor Cai Tinxin of Zhejiang University.

Exciting discovery

William Banks, a mathematician at the University of Missouri, who works with Carmichael numbers said, if verified, an alternative proof would be an exciting discovery for his field.

He said that the only construction of an infinite family of Carmichael number was done by academics 20 years ago.

"There have been additional theoretical results in this area -- including several by myself and my co-authors -- but these are all variations on a theme," he said.

Yu presented his proof -- along with solutions to four other problems -- to the public on June 13 at a graduate student seminar on the invitation of Cai.

However, it took Yu more than eight yearsof writing letters to prominent Chinese mathematicians to get any recognition for his talent.

Cai, the professor, says he will include Yu's solution in an upcoming book.'I'm slow-witted'

Yu, who describes himself as shy and introverted, said he would pore over numbers with a calculator while he studied animal breeding at a vocational school.

"I was extremely nervous during the presentation," Yu told CNN. "So nervous that I wrote wrong numbers on the blackboard."

Yu only studies numbers in his free time and says he has never considered full-time professional study. He attributed his talent to diligence and solitude. He's also modest.

"I'm slow-witted," he says. "I need to spend far more time studying math problems than others. Although I am sensitive to numbers, I barely have any knowledge about calculus or geometry."

After local and national media reported on his findings, Yu has become a local celebrity. A company that manufactures silk products has offered him a less labor-intensive job to give him more time to study math.
Yu had never heard of the movie "Good Will Hunting," but says he's curious to see it.
However, at age 33 and still single, he says his primary concern is to get married.
"I want to have my own family first and then comes math."
