Politics / Beloved Children Of Kwara - Ahman Pategi by HonMike: 9:07pm On May 27, 2019
It gives me pleasure to felicitate with you all on the occasion of the 2019 Childrens Day celebration. This year's Children's day comes 2 days to the inauguration of a new and better Kwara loaded with opportunities for our children and youths.

The occasion also gives opportunity to reaffirm my belief that it is the right of every Kwara child to have access to quality and affordable education, as well as healthcare and other basic necessities for a good life, in a peaceful and secured environment. Quality education is therefore a top priority on the incoming administration's agenda for the development of Kwara State. Education is one of key points in AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's Convenant with Kwarans and identified as channels through which greater Kwara can be birthed and strong commitment in this regard must be embarked upon with several innovative programmes in the educational sector.

Worthy of note is the school-feeding programme which has become a National policy. It is obvious that this programme has ensured more children go to school. Despite the current economic challenges facing our dear nation, the incoming administration I believe would do all within its powers to achieve better living conditions and greater access to quality healthcare and education for all our children. The administration should be emboldened to create innovative educational and social programmes in Kwara State so that it will have effect in the overall performance of our children.

I trust the incoming administration will sustain and strengthen ongoing actions to protect children more effectively from child-labour, child-trafficking and other related anti-children offences. Education is the bedrock to an assured future and the incoming administration should do all within its powers to secure the future of Kwara Children.

In return, I urge all children to imbibe and exhibit in greater measure, the virtues of hard work, diligence, discipline, honesty and selflessness which are essential for the actualization of the vision of a true Kwara of our dream. I hope sooner than expected concerted efforts in various sectors will make Kwarans proud, Kwara will be a State to reckon with in the comity of States in Nigeria and we shall all be proud to call ourselves Kwarans.

Our children and youths, have a very significant role to play in ensuring that the foundations the incoming administration plans to lay are nurtured, improve upon and strengthened to underpin national development and prosperity. You are our future and with you all, we have no doubt that the future of our beloved state is even brighter. I urge you to remain optimistic that under the leadership of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Government will do its best to prepare and equip you to show the world that we are indeed, the state of harmony. I believe despite the task before the incoming administration, they will put in their best at all times in all sectors through innovative programmes to create new opportunities for all-round growth and development for all Kwarans.

To God be the glory. I join the good people of Kwara State to felicitate with all children and wish you all a Happy Children's Day.

Politics / Court Discontinue Certificate Case; Says Kwara Governor-elect Result Is Genuine by HonMike: 8:27pm On May 22, 2019
The High Court of Justice of Kwara State of Nigeria has discontinued the suit against Kwara State Governor-elect, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq brought by Olufemi Abraham after confirmation from the West Africa Examination Council that the result of the elected governor is genuine and as such has no case to answer.

According to a document made available and signed by the claimant with Suit No: KWS/73/2019 dated 21st day of May, 2019, it can be reliably gather that the suit which has been lingering for months is part of the civil case leveled against the Governor-elect which has generated a lot of controversies from all quarters and has been use as a tool to propagate falsehood against his person.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier condemned reports claiming the body was asked to produce the WAEC certificate of the Kwara State Governor-elect, the body claimed that the document is clearly a public record and it can't be falsified nor fabricate.

Counsel to INEC, Rowland Otaru in his words said: "The tribunal did not at anytime order INEC to produce the WAEC certificate of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq".

INEC also affirmed the victory of AbdulRazaq as the winner of the Kwara State Governorship election.

Furthermore, WAEC has confirmed the authenticity of his certificate to be original which also corroborated the position of the court.

With the discontinuation of the said case that lacks a substantive evidence, the Kwara State Governor-elect, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq certificate case has finally been laid to rest with confirmation from WAEC, INEC and now the Court.

However, the tribunal case challenging the emergence of AbdulRazaq as elected Governor of Kwara State by PDP continues.

Politics / No Issues Over Kwara Gov-elect's Certificate: INEC by HonMike: 2:38pm On May 22, 2019
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday dismissed reports that it has been asked to produce the WAEC certificate of the Kwara State Governor-elect AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Counsel to INEC Rowland Otaru (SAN) told reporters in Ilorin, the state capital, that at no time did the state governorship tribunal order the body to produce a document that is clearly a public record.

"The tribunal did not at anytime order INEC to produce the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq," Otaru said.

“The governor-elect has pleaded his certificate, which is very genuine. There is nothing like falsification of result or whatever. They are there. They are public records. It is not something to be hidden. The documents the governor-elect tendered met the requirements of the
law.”

Earlier at the tribunal's pre-hearing session, the commission tendered two documents (Forms ECAD and ECAE) which contained the results of the elections across the 16 local government areas and declaration of results for the office of the governor of the state.

INEC added that the documents affirmed that AbdulRazaq was the winner of the election.

Otaru told the tribunal that “those are the documents we have now at this pre-hearing session. Every other document will come in during the real trial.”

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Abdulrazak Atunwa are
challenging the genuineness or otherwise of the WAEC certificate of AbdulRazaq at the tribunal.

Counsel to PDP and its governorship candidate, Kingsley Odey, did not object to the tendering of the document.

Odey told the court that he intends to call up maximum of five witnesses, adding that one will be a document expert while the other will be subpoenaed from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)
office.

Counsel to AbdulRazaq, H.O Afolabi, promised to call seven witnesses, adding that the tribunal has the powers to streamline and limit the number of witnesses to call.

He urged the tribunal “to be kind enough to let us work within the timeframe allocated. That is my supplication. This is the best
approach through which I can ventilate the defence of my clients."

The INEC counsel agreed with him, saying: “This is the best way to manage and save time. I promise to cross-examine all the PDP witnesses in one day.”

Counsel to APC Chief Yomi Aliyu said he intends to call two witnesses during real trial.

Pre-hearing conference continues on Thursday for the streamlining of trial timetable.

The forum has in one of its strategic sessions top panelists - President Kagame, Abdulsamad Rabiu and Naguib Sawaris. Others are Carlos Lopes, Philippe Le Houreon and President Sahle work Zewde.

Politics / I Sincerely Regret The Death Of Bagadozi My Father - Aisha Ahman Pategi by HonMike: 8:13pm On Mar 21, 2019
With heavy heart, I sincerely regret the death of our Bagadozi, who is just like a father to me.

I was opportune to have gotten close to the formidable Emir.
Having encouraged me to venture into the political arena, especially as a Nupe woman, in an environment where women hardly thrive in politics.
My last meeting with you was recent, when I came with the governor-elect, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, soliciting for your support and blessings and you gave us a welcoming audience, while encouraging unity and peace, with particular emphasis on how you want the best for kwara North and Patigi LGA in particular and also stressing the importance of infrastructural development for our communities.

The pain I feel today is similar to the one I felt when I lost my dear father years ago.
I pray for Allah to grant you eternal life and wish the family my deepest condolence.
May Almighty Allah grant Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar the Etsu Patigi Aljanna fidaws.

I immeasurably regret the death of our great royal father, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar, and send my condolences to his family, the entire royal community in Kwara State and the people of Patigi in particular.

I was opportune to meet the formidable emir not so long ago, and the brief moment remains one of which I cherish the most in my various encounters. He was an altruist, a leader per excellence and a sincere man in every sense of it.

Let’s all remember to imbibe the lessons he lived to teach us and put him and his families in our prayer.

May Allah grant him Al jannah firdaws.

Politics / Dead Man Wins Election To Become A Legislator In United States Of America by HonMike: 4:27pm On Nov 07, 2018
A dead man has been elected as a legislature in Nevada’s State Assembly, in the just concluded U.S. mid-term elections.

Voters in Nevada just elected dead man Dennis Hof.

According to the Huffington Post, Mr Dennis Hof died unexpectedly in mid-October, but his name wasn’t scratched off the ballot under Nevada law.

The pro-Trump candidate still found favour with the voters and patrons of Hof’s Nevada brothel, even from the great beyond just to keep his memory alive.

Elections officials said that Republican Dennis Hof won a seat in Nevada’s State Assembly, with 53 percent of the vote in his Clark County, beating Democrat school administrator and political newcomer, Lesia Romanov, who amassed 47 percent of the vote.
Hof had attempted to mould his political image on that of President Donald Trump, often referring to himself as “Trump from Pahrump” after his hometown in Nevada, according to reports.

The brothel owner, who ran an anti-establishment campaign, got into the crucial race after winning the primary but was not destined to see his political triumph.
This October, Hof was found dead at Love Ranch, one of his legal brothels, after his 72nd birthday party, which featured guests such as legendary porn star Ron Jeremy and potential Republican Senate candidate Joe Arpaio.

However, his name remained on the ballot in accordance with Nevada’s legislation, as the deadline for changing the roster had passed.
Despite the paradoxical outcome, there are procedures in place to ensure that when Hof’s posthumous victory is confirmed, local county commissioners may appoint another Republican to fill his seat.

This set the expectations of Hof’s campaign manager, Chuck Muth, high; as he suggested voters would still opt for the deceased Republican ahead of the General Elections.
“They will feel much more comfortable casting the ballot for him, knowing there will be another Republican to replace him,” he said shortly after the love-vendor’s passing.
Some mocked the U.S. election system for this rare occurrence.

Politics / Osun Decides: PDP Leave Mahmood Yakubu Alone by HonMike: 5:21pm On Sep 25, 2018
OSUN 2018 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS: PDP LEAVE MAHMOOD YAKUBU ALONE.

"The Commission has been applying this regulation in several elections. So there is nothing new here. This was applied in Governorship elections in:

1. Imo State [2011 and 2015]
2. Anambra State [2013]
3. Taraba State [2015]
4. Kogi State [2015]
5. Bayelsa State [2015] etc.

Let us take a look at examples of these inconclusive elections.

Case Number [1]
IMO GUBER ELECTIONS 2015

Okorocha [APC]—385,671
Ihedioha [PDP] ——306,142
Margin———79,529
Cancelled votes——144,715

From the above, it is evident that the margin or victory was lower than the cancelled votes, a number that is enough to alter the balance. The Commission under Professor Attahiru Jega did the needful and promptly declared the elections inconclusive.

Take note that my party, the ruling party then hailed the decision and applauded the decision of the INEC, calling it a "patriotic and sound decision". Of course, PDP kicked against it. A re-run election was scheduled. Recall that a similar situation had happened in 2011 in the same IMO between Okorocha and Ikedi Ohakim where INEC had declared the elections inconclusive because elections did not take place in some wards.

Case Number [2]
ANAMBRA SENATORIAL ELECTION 2011

Dora Akunyili [APGA] ——66,273
Chris Ngige [ACN] ——65,576
Margin —697

INEC declared the elections inconclusive because elections did not take place in some wards with a voting population that was higher than the margin of victory.

Case Number [3]
KOGI GUBER ELECTION 2015

Abubakar Audu [APC] —240,867
Wada Idris [PDP] —199,514
Margin —————41,353
Cancelled votes ———49,953

Again, the margin here was less than the cancellations and was rightly declared inconclusive by Professor Mahmood Yakubu led INEC.

The point to note here was that the APC was by this time the ruling party and clearly had a huge lead but Yakubu still refused to budge under pressure by the ruling party to announce it as winner. My party the PDP applauded it.

CASE NUMBER [4]
BAYELSA GUBER ELECTIONS 2015

Dickson [PDP] ——105,748
Sylva [APC]——72,594
Margin ——33,154

In the case of Bayelsa, a contraption of an election had taken place in Southern Ijaw which had Sylva winning the entire 120,000 votes in that area, but this much maligned Yakubu refused to accept it , declared it inconclusive and ordered a re-run for the number of registered voters were clearly more than the margin of victory. The PDP received this news well and celebrated it.

CASE NUMBER [5]
ANAMBRA GUBER ELECTION 2013

Obiano [APGA] —174,710
Tony Nwoye [PDP] —94,956
Margin——79,754
Cancelled votes——113,113

Again the Commission under Jega declared it inconclusive and the PDP celebrated it as a bold move.

Mahmood’s sins is simply that he accepted to serve under this president and for some, that is an unforgivable sin. But it is immaterial, Yakubu is on track and will not be distracted. I love my party but I must stand by truth and justice. Nothing less is demanded of me.

Politics / Osun Decides: A Take Home Assignment For APC by HonMike: 1:00pm On Sep 24, 2018
Osun Decides: A take home assignment for APC after smelling defeat in a stronghold.

The most popular definition of democracy that Nigerians are familiar with is that, it is the government of the people by the people and for the people. However, this definition appears to be theoretical and not practicable in the Nigeria context.

An average Nigerian has the mentality that their votes won't count and only apply for voters card mostly for business or official purposes. The recent election in Osun state has revealed that things are changing and there is hope for all Nigerians. It has shown that their votes do not just count but echo that a new mindset should arise.

APC no doubt is the ruling party which is normal for every other political party to aim to pull down but it's quite sad they have not learnt a lesson of sustainance rather choose to dwell in the euphoria of pride of never to be defeated. Thanks to Osun election that bruised the bragging rights and showed the party the need to reassess, re-strategise and define a new pathway for victory. Dwelling too much on Ekiti victory is one of the ways to guarantee defeat.

Permit me to highlight some of the miscalculation and wrong deeds of the party as a whole. I know some people's ego may be bashed with this but I am not sorry as the ship if allowed to sink will consume all.

I still find it disappointing that a ruling party decides to give Adeleke and Omisore a free hand in their comfort zones and not trying to reduce the winning margin from your opponent's home.

On every APC members lips is echoes of Adeleke will win convincingly Ede and environs and Omisore will win Ife and her environs. This can only make me pity APC the more. Even a nuclear biological family have difference in ideology which an outsider can benefit from to their own advantage and this doesn't stop them from being biological family but just ideological differences and since political parties is the coming together of people with similar ideologies why is this principle not taken into consideration and a bold step not taken to give a fight at Adeleke and Omisore's comfort zone with amazing political strategies doubling our political reinforcement in those areas.

Changing a winning strategy in politics is always suicidal but strengthening the strategy based on peculiarities of every geographical area is wisdom.
I still can't believe a ruling party that defeated a sitting Governor of the opposition party is struggling to win convincingly in a state controlled by her.

Perhaps, the APC don't know that a rerun for a ruling party is not different from a loss but taking consolation is good if this is a temporary consolation that will terminate shortly after the rerun is done. The party agents whose methods are best known to the party leaders who were assigned to beat the opposition tactics for tactics later dashed the hopes of even party members. Only God knows if they voted their party when some of them were given degrading amount in some polling units.

A ruling party who knows that some people's conscience is attached to how much they received at the polling units before voting was giving #1000 when the opposition was giving #2500, #4000 while opposition was giving #5000 and in some areas opposition giving even more. The opposition was always ensuring they gave something more as if they were in partnership with the ruling party agents to ensure they were seen as giving more at several polling units which went a long way to create impressions in the heart of some voters as being taking for granted and over confidence which ripple effect is where we are today and the loss of polling units by APC party leaders affirm the obvious.

The current unsettling of Akinwunmi Ambode by Lagos APC really went a long way in affecting the confidence to vote continuity as some voters saw the act as imposition at will knowing some of them have not been to Lagos nor have a full know how of how Lagos political structure is positioned.

Some voters that have been to Lagos that sees the governor as a working governor compared to some of his contemporaries felt the APC in Lagos was looking for what to eat at the expense of the citizens and felt this is the best time to show the party they are different from Lagos even though they are not convinced Adeleke is better than Oyetola.

Many voters which are also people working for party victory, convinced that Ambode erred, still wonder why Asiwaju cannot forgive him. One of them even said, "so Oyetola is going to put us under Lagos mandate structure? God forbid!" and as such sees Adeleke as a lesser devil.

Aregbesola no doubt did well infrastructure wise but paying the hasty months salary is a very wrong strategy as the Governor took no time to explain explicitly how and why the salaries was paid so close to election. The timing was wrong as some civil servants who have tagged the governor "Baba Hafusa" based on the mode adopted for payment of salaries felt their salaries which is their entitlement was used as a political bargaining tool which may be the feedback mechanism of the governor.

I wish not to bore us with a long epistle but I will want to end by saying if the party sees all those who left the party as enemies who should not be contacted, lobby those aggrieved first within the party sincerely over Oyetola's choice and reach out to those not happy within the opposition parties. Talk to all contenders and pretenders on the ballot and most importantly dialogue with Omisore irrespective of the opposition reaching him first or considering his political genesis and ensure political trading are sincerely and not desperately done like a man hungry for sex.

If we do not address these obvious cracks in the party, we may be welcoming Adeleke as the governor-elect based on our insensitivity.

Politics / Ambode Lekan Si: Asiwaju Needs To Listen by HonMike: 9:48am On Sep 18, 2018
AMBODE LE KAN SI: ASIWAJU NEEDS TO LISTEN

If Asiwaju fails to allow peace with Ambode after the calibre of people talking him out of war.

He will have his way in Lagos for now but a scratch on his power to also reconcile people out of war because it happened during your unhappiness with Ambode and we allow you have your way will echo forever.

I have no doubt that if a state of peace is not reached and Ambode allowed to seek reelection Tinubu will suffer more than he stands to gain.

If he has his way, I won't be surprised if he also submit names of Minister to Buhari and Buhari also echoes am happy with the name but the electorate my own follower don't want this names to be minister.

Afi fila perin ojo kan ni iyi yen mo

If Chairman reconciliation can not reconcile his home it speaks volume let's not shy away from this truth.
