"I came to coach basketball players, and you became
students. l came to teach boys, and you became men"-Samuel L. Jackson-Coach Carter..

"Our deepest fear is not that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people don't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to
shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in
everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we
unconsciously give other people permission to do the
same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our
presence automatically liberates others"-Timo Cruz-Coach Carter.

"I guess I would say, Kate I think about you

think about is being near you. And when you
are near me, I feel like I'm at peace with the
whole world. I know that...I know I'll never
have to ask God for anything 'cause, as long
as I have you in my life, I got everything I
ever wanted. And the only thing I really
wanna do is just spend the rest of my life
making you as happy as you've made me.
Because I love you, Kate. I love you."--Eddie Murphy-Norbit

Gbawe: Don't be surprised if he heads back to Nigeria and dives into politics immediately to contest the governorship of his home State. He may even win. That is how depraved and debased Nigeria is currently.
thats the annoying part.
PoliticsNigerian Judge Sacked In Gambia Over Bribe by honorbule(op): 9:56am On Jul 30, 2013
A Nigerian judge Justice Joseph Wowo has been sacked for soliciting a N2.3 million bribe from a Gambian-based Dutch businessman in return for a favourable judgment in a land dispute case, an online medium, Premium Times, reports.

Wowo, who hails from Delta State, was a former President of the Gambian Court of Appeal.

He was caught on tape holding a surreptitious meeting with the former Gambian Justice Minister, Lamin Jobarteh (who has also been sacked), a Dutch national, André Klaarbergen, and his Nigerian lawyer simply identified as Mene, negotiating a price to subverting the judgment of a Gambian High Court over a land dispute case, which Mr. Wowo agrees the Dutch rightly lost.

“How much are you willing to offer first so that we can negotiate,” Wowo was heard saying on tape, now posted on Youtube. “You know my position; based on my position I’m not even supposed to come here in the first place. I’m the President of the Court of Appeal and now I’m acting Chief Justice,” he continued, openly admitting he was sabotaging the course of justice by even agreeing to be at the meeting.

“I’ve read your file at the Court of Appeal, (and) that is why I said you don’t have any case at the Court of Appeal. You will lose at the Court of Appeal because the way they deal with the case at the Court of Appeal, the lawyer messed it up. That is why I called your lawyer and said let us see how we can help you,” confirming that the lower court had made the right call in the case.

Jobarteh then cut in and suggested a quick resolution of the matter.

“The fact of the matter is that the error has been made and it’s irrecoverable. The issue now is how we can meet each other to correct the problem,” he said.

Wowo then demanded a bribe of 2.5 million Dalasi (N12.3 million) but Mr Klaarbergen, who complained that his business had been slow lately, offered to pay 500,000 Dalasi.

The disgraced attorney-general, with a tone of threat, then appealed to Wowo to accept the bribe.

“Come a time you people will come running to me and in view of all other consideration and the man’s financial predicament now, I appeal to you to accept the 500,000,” he said.

“Because of Justice Jobarteh, honourable minister, that is why I’m accepting,” Mr Wowo replied.

Even when the Dutch businessman expressed some reluctance and suggested talking to his partner, Justice Wowo asked him to “go and borrow” if he could not raise the agreed bribe.

Fearing prosecution, Mr Wowo is feared to have fled the Gambia furtively. His whereabouts is currently unknown, and he did not respond to series of calls to his Gambian mobile telephone.

HealthWorld Population Day 2013 Theme: Adolescent Pregnancy by honorbule(op): 9:40am On Jul 11, 2013
The total population in Nigeria was last recorded at 166.2 million people in 2012 (from 45.2 million in 1960). The National Population Commission (NPC) expects that Nigeria’s population will hit the 170 million mark this year. About 63% of the population is under 25, and unemployment is at 23.9%, with youth unemployment in particular at about 37%.

The UN predicts that Africa – and Nigeria in particular – will be at forefront of a huge global population rise over next century: Nigeria's population is expected to surpass that of the US by 2050.

New UN projections predict the country could be the world's third most populous by the end of this century (the global Population Reference Bureau (PRB) projects it will be the world's fourth most populous country, with 400 million people - just less than the projected figure for the United States, even with only one tenth of its territory.)

THIS MAY BE GOOD FOR THE RETAILERS ABROAD, BUT COULD BE BAD FOR LOW INCOME EARNERS, AND SLUGGISH LOCAL MANUFACTURERS

Official figures say absolute poverty rose to 60 percent last year (from 54.7 percent in 2004), and this is worsened by rapid population growth. Some 100 million Nigerians are said to live in poverty.

More than half of the growth predicted between now and 2050 is expected in Africa; the number of people is set to more than double, from 1.1 billion to 2.4 billion. Africa's population expected to continue to rise, even if there is a future drop in the average number of children each woman has (currently about 5).

India is currently the world's second-largest country by population, and is expected to rival China in size soon as 2028, when both nations will each have about 1.45 billion citizens. After 2030, China is expected to shrink in numbers, reaching an estimated 1.1 billion by the end of this century, when India's population is projected to reach about 1.5 billion.

AN AGING POPULATION

Today, the average person is 29 years old. This is expected to increase to 36 by 2050 (probably due to later marriage and technological advancement alongside an already ageing population). In less than 10 years, the UN expects that more than one billion people in the world will be 60 years old, or older.

The world population edged to 7 billion people in 2011 (up from 2.5 billion in 1950), and will probably be 8 billion by 2030.

EVEN WITH – AND PROBABLY BECAUSE OF – TECHNOLOGY, DO YOU IMAGINE THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM FOR COUNTRIES; ESPECIALLY ONE SUCH AS NIGERIA?

In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11 July should be observed by the international community as World Population Day.

This year, the focus is on Adolescent Pregnancy.

About 16 million girls under age 18 give birth each year. Another 3.2 million undergo unsafe abortions. 90 per cent of pregnant adolescents in the developing world are married, but pregnancy is often not an informed choice.

For countries such as Nigeria – which is still grappling with maternal and child mortality – this poses a problem. About 16 million girls in the world aged 15-19 give birth each year, and complications from pregnancy and child birth are the leading cause of death among girls in this age group, especially in developing countries.

Christianity EtcKumuyi Offers To Resign Over Son's Wedding Controversy by honorbule(op): 8:12am On Jul 07, 2013
EXCERPTS FROM TODAY'S PAPERS
*THE SUN*
•National overseer in Jamaica removed
•Suspension of couple wrong, Pastor Bakare tells Deeper Life •‘No, couple should have followed church’s tradition,’ say Bishop Chukwuma, others

Pastor William Kumuyi offered to resign as General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church following the controversy that trailed the wedding of his second son, John.

John Kumuyi and his wife, Love had engaged in acts, which negated the church’s tradition during their wedding held in Jamaica on June 15, 2013. Love, who is a daughter of the National Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Jamaica, Pastor Augustine Odih, was dressed in a fitted stylish wedding gown with transparent short sleeves. She also wore makeup, jewelry and carried a bouquet of flowers. The couple cruised in a limousine and had a huge wedding cake.

The misdemeanor, which attracted widespread criticisms, had earned the newlyweds suspension from church activities despite showing remorse and tendering an apology to the church, blaming their misconduct on the fact that both of them had resided abroad for so long.

Sunday Sun gathered that the practice in the Deeper Christian Life Ministry is that if members’ children misbehave, both the children and their parents get punished on the grounds that it’s the parents’ failing in their responsibilities that made the children to err. Although the children involved in the Jamaican wedding infraction are adults, the leadership of the church regarded their action as a strong breach of its tradition, and immediately removed the bride’s father, from his position as National Overseer in Jamaica.
