You are right, but the problems are larger than all you have mentioned here.

We got lots of natural resources, the thing we should have been doing is using the natural resources to make things the world needs, and earning huge profits from it.

But we stuck with oil, we refused to fight corruption, and we paid for subsides with borrowed money, and then some imaginary money.

Recipie for disaster.

IMF wants us to do well by the way, so that they do not have to give us any more money, lol. grin

Thank God we are stuck in oil becos had we taken this criminal demonic spirit of ours into other sectors of the economy Nigeria would have truly gone bankrupt
So it is better we correct ourselves with the oil management before going into our resources and sectors

If we can manage our oil, together with Remittance, non-Russian oil export, entertainment and Music I bet you we won't be here
Then imagine managing our gold, solid minerals and others we will be the richest on planet earth
Why do you think every government never fights the government he takes over from? It is because among the elites their is abundance of money to be made in Nigeria, why should they fight when they can make their own money too

NIgeria is a broke country.

RIght now, we should be earining in the hundreds of billions of dollars from a strong diversifed economy. Years of bad economic polices, especially since 2015, are why we are strugling for limited cash.

There is a reason why we should have not voted for APC In 2015. And even last year...but anger towards PDP, tribalisim, and bitterness kept us with a bad government.

Oga, we are broke. The stealing and corruption is making the problem worse. Our bad leaders who won't promote investor friendly policies, and pro-export of other things apart from oil are making us broke. If we were serious, our earnings should be in the regifon of 200 billion dollars per annum. Not the scanty 70 billion, 20 billion from remittances, which are mostly eaten up by debt.

Speaking of debt...did you know our debt was eating up over 90% of our revenue as at AUgust 2022.? AUGUST 2022. If not for the partial subsidy removal forced on TInubu as well as the partial float of the naira, it would have been 130 % by now.

Oga, APC Is useless. The problem is how we agree on how they are useless.

Let us fight corruption, let us stop the corrupt. You won't get any argument from me there....but it ultimately does not solve our problem.

Forget parties here, oga tell me when last did you hear the total revenue Nigeria earned, since them born you have you ever heard what is our daily oil production?
Are our crude being stolen or not and by who?
If you think the government and IMF can fool me and deceive me into believing Nigeria is broke I sorry for you
Ogbeni Nigeria is broke how long have we been hearing these stories, we are broke yet what is stolen every year is outrageous

The problem is, we have limited dollars because we are not earning enough in dollars.

Twelve years ago, when the oil price was above 120 dollars a barrel, weren't the same corrupt politicans buying up our dollars and sending abroad? Yes, but it did not bother people much because at the end, we were earning a lot of dollars for anyone to bother about remittances.

Not now, when oil price crashes betweeen 2014-21 , and the resulting debt have eaten a lot of our earnings that the government is targetting remittances.

The problem has and always has been 1) Nigeria not running a diversified economy 2) Polices like subsidies on power and petrol discouraging investment in such sectors. Result, we don't earn enough, we go into debt, the debt eats our earnings...wahala results.

PLus the hoarding of dollars is also done by 'ordinary nigerians' too, worsening the issue.

BY all means, government should target corrupt politicans earnings and their investing abroad. But at the end of the day, it still does not solve the underlying problem. Nigeria is not earning enough. NIgeria is not earning enough. And that is how our government is failing us.
.

Who told you we have limited dollars, do you even know how much dollars we have?

Bro the only thing you said correctly is the hoarding of dollars, we Nigerians are not consuming more than the dollars we have.
Out of $7.2 billions forex CBN was to pay out $2.4 is fake, before now nobody knows the total amount of oil revenue we earn except some NNPCL directors, Cabals and the Presidency our CBN NEVER knew how much dollars we make yearly so how come you talk of limited dollars when you don't know what you make?

The former CBN governor Sanusi use to shout that their were Nigerians in the NNPC and their cabals that are Richer than our yearly budget estimates and do you know that the audit report carried out by Deloitte international on NNPCL found out that just the miscellaneous spending of NNPCL in one year is greater than our 2024 national budget on defense?

There is nothing like dollars shortage in Nigeria, aside oil sales the simplest way of making 💰 is currency trade in Nigeria
What we need right now are citizens willing to block all the leakages in our corrupt system first, when we do this together from dollar remittance from abroad and earnings from our non oil sectors we can then truly know whether we have limited dollars or not but I can confidently tell you that if the likes of Madam Deazani can steal billions of dollars that can satisfy a huge percentage of our need I bet you we only need to block the leakages and thievery of our Commonwealth

Ukafor:
My gf has just delivered a baby girl, am now a proud father, it very true that babies bring goodluck, my baby has brought grace and goodluck to me all thanks to God.

It was really hard in the begining but i pull through, secondly be mindful of your words, words are powerful, i remember having a conversation with my then gf 2 years ago about having a child, i didn't meant any of it, this was what i said that day to her "in 2024 am gonna have a child by any means" and it come to pass.

I wasn't ready, every attempt to abort didn't work out, i pray God should forgive me for trying abortion.

THE FACT (1) Word are powerful anything you said about yourself may likely come to pass. (2) every child born bring grace and blessing to the parent, everything keep working for me.

Despite being an apprentice am able to take good care of my baby and the mother.

I hope there will be stringent regulations to protect the environment and also prevent them from fleecing the state and country of our dues.

Government should follow up on the agreement with them setting up a battery manufacturing plant in proximity to this processing/extracting plant

If the Chinese can grab and leech on our resources doesn't it tell our useless both leaders and followers we as a people are?

1. At some point, we got to stop paying these ransoms, then when the kidnappers wake up and see there is no money in it, they would immediately end the business.

Yes, I know I am advocating something that is 'bad' and yes, I probably won't follow my advice if (God forbid) someone close to me, or loved one was kidnapped. But at some point, we got to stop giving these people money. The more money we pay them, the more they will kidnap, the more they will attract more people into the business. When would it stop.?

2. We got to fund our police better, and the police themselves should set up a specialist anti-kidnapping squad. It is time we fought this thing fire for fire. Enough is enough. It is obvious this cannot be fought the current way, we got to change the methods of warfare now.

3. Yes it is bad that we got APC again for another 4 years. But, let us put pressure on them still to lead us well. If dem no hear us, dem go see people's wrath on the streets soon. Also, put pressure on your governor and LG chairman. Not to be grumbling on nairaland we go do am.

Thanks for the responses. At the end of the day, remember the lesson of the Danegeld.

Over a thousand years ago, the English were under repeated invasion by the Danes. Them danes were coming in, kidnapping and looting, and killing. The Englisc thought that by paying the Danes a substantial amount in gold., the Danes would go away...so they did and kept on doing.

Result

1.Danes took over a large part of England and settled in the area

2.Danes eventually displaced the royal family, and became kings of England.

Right.

At some point, we either keep on paying OR we stop and we see. Eff,, there is no easy answer, and it is effing sad we don't have a sane government past or present that would properly fund the police.

Stop paying what?
Didn't you read that even the former DSS director paid ransom?
You are asking Nigerians to stop paying when the authorities can't track phone calls of the kidnappers plz leave Nigerians alone when useless leaders can't protect themselves

This isn't true...

I didn't watch the video... But going by the headline.

False and disrespectful.

They are top management level civil servants who have worked hard and honestly for years (some upwards of 25 - 30 years) and have been able acquire modest property and send their wards to be educated in other parts of the world. Not because the money they have is in abundance but some go as far as acquiring loans.

You can't tell me a top level manager at NNPC for instance must steal before acquiring property or sending his kids to study abroad. Especially if he has worked and saved deligently for a considerable period of time.

This statement is quite a disrespect and discouragement to honest and hardworking civil servants... Especially the young and up coming ones looking to make a career out of the civil service!
