Science/Technology / Today & Future AI Explained Here by Hrmkingobi(m): 10:08pm On Aug 23, 2023
What is the AI of today and that of the future?

🔲 Most of the AI that surrounds us today is trained and focused to perform specific tasks. Researchers call this AI weak or narrow – Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI). ‘Narrow’ might be a more accurate descriptor for such AI systems as they are anything but weak; enabling some very robust applications, and autonomous vehicles.

🔳 The AI of the future is called strong and is made up of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI).

AGI is a theoretical form of AI where a machine would have an intelligence equaled to humans and a self-aware consciousness in order to learn and plan.

ASI—or superintelligence—would surpass the intelligence and ability of the human brain. In the meantime, the best examples of ASI might be from science fiction.

According to researchers, there is a 50% chance of AI outperforming humans in all tasks in 45 years and of automating all human jobs in 120 years.

Nairaland / General / How Did The First Phone Call Work? - Naija Campus Blog Study Hub by Hrmkingobi(m): 6:19pm On Sep 27, 2020
Alexander Graham Bell’s big breakthrough came on 10 March 1876 when he used what he called a ‘liquid transmitter’. This was a vertical metal cone with a piece of parchment stretched like a drum over its narrow end at the base.
On the outside of the parchment, Bell had glued a cork with a needle stuck in it, pointing into a tiny cup of diluted sulphuric acid.
When he shouted into the open end of the cone, his voice made the parchment vibrate, so the needle moved slightly in relation to a contact in the cup. The needle was wired to a battery and the movement varied the strength of the current passing between the contacts, thus converting sound waves into an electric signal which traveled along a wire to a receiver.
While setting up the experiment, Bell spilled some acid on his trousers. Shouting to his assistant, Thomas Watson heard the message on the receiver in another room and rushed through to Bell, who had just made the first phone call.

Education / Campus Hacks :how To Attain Good Grades In Your First Year At The University by Hrmkingobi(m): 3:12pm On Mar 30, 2020
Being a scholar entails having good grades in all your courses, while this might sound easy to accomplish, it might actually be one of the toughest thing anyone will experience while on campus.

Good grades are not easy to come by but are very possible to achieve, it is best to say good grades comes with a lot of hard work plus smart work. No wonder most university do not fail to reward those who have done excellently academically.

Though this might sound archaic and more like things we hear everyday, but I will actually be writing from experience and can only hope it will in one way or the other be helpful and probably trigger a soul to do excellently well in this new section. Enjoy!

1. Never miss a class:

But if in case you do, get a friend to tell you all what the lecturer said if possible. Honestly, missing lectures can be dangerous, I can testify to this, it ruined one of my results, I didn't get the note and forgot to read on the topic before examination, most of my questions came from that topic and it had a big blow on my result. Bro, sis, if you are reading this, ensure you read every single topic treated. Never be lackadaisical about it.

2. Jot as much as possible:

While this might be a waste of time since note and other soft copies are available, it is still one of the best way to get lecturers points during lectures. Ensure you have you jotting note with you in order to pen down important things the lecturer might say.

3. Read anything relating to each course:

Yes! Textbooks, encyclopedia, manuals, past notes, just anything on each topics. There are times we say the lecturers set foreign questions, actually he or she didn't set foreign questions he or she only expected us to read wide and consult different materials on each topic.

4. Get past questions :

Past questions are like expo for some courses, you might be lucky to come across half of the treated past questions in your examination. It happens and I'm a living witness.

5. Never procrastinate:

Procrastinating destroys and set you back. Why leave it till the next day when it can be done now? If it is relating to your academics, please don't postpone it, you can postpone others but your books, open them immediately and keep reading.

6. Surround yourself with friends with the same mindset:

You want to be the scholar? Yes, it sounds good but who are your friends? Are they of the same goals as well? If no, then it can't work simply because it is not competitive, you need people with the same mindset to set you balling, you need people who will motivate you to read more than they are doing. Surround yourself with people of the same interest.

7. Get Informed:

Information is key, always stay updated about the latest in your department, always know if the lecture will hold or not and where and when. Never rely on a single source, get the class rep contact and if possible some of your lecturers contact as well. Remember, the gap between ignorance and knowledge is information

8. Avoid frivolity:

Wasting precious time on unnecessary activities won't take you there. Avoid activities that takes time without no positive impact. Use that time to go through your works and learn what you didn't get at first.

9. Learn from others:

This alone can be an ultimate way to attaining good grades. Having those who are scholar of your department to guide you works really well as you will learn new strategy from them

10. Have that mindset:

No one can achieve this without having a driving force to do so, this feat isn't for a livid minded individual, this feat can only be achieved by those with a burning desire to excel and a desperate heart to top the class even against all odds. Of course, it starts from the mind, always have that positive mindset.

11. Pray:

Whether a muslim or christian or traditionalist or buddhism, whatever religion you belong to, just hold on to it.

To Brief The Discussion Just Follow This Hacks

1.Start studying early.
2.Put effort in getting good grades.
3.Reduce your personal time waster.
4.Do your homework and get over it.
5.Play games to learn.
6.Review your test papers.
7.Work hard to get better knowledge.
8.Renew yourself regularly.

Education / Campus Talkzone: 9 Biggest Fear Of Students - What's Your Big Fear? by Hrmkingobi(m): 11:40am On Mar 30, 2020
Higher education is not about books and grades only. Actually, it makes you a better person and prepares to the future life: you start living on your own, making new friends, learning how to organize your time better, how to plan your budget, and so on.
Moreover, higher education teaches students how to overcome their biggest fears. And trust me, students do have a lot of fears when they enter and during their stay in college or university.
So now let's share our feelings and thoughts within our selves. There are various forms of fear we have as a student.
1. The Fear Of Strike

At this point in time were most bodies of our education system such as ASUU, NASU, and the rest of the educational bodies, are either on strike or planning to go on strike. Students can't tell when these various bodies and the federal government would have a mutual and reasonable agreement to end the strike. Were we all know as a student, any form of strike surely elongates the period of your stay and studying in campus. We all know the rest of the gist. Strike ain't helping us.
2. The Fear Of Pandemics

If you should know, A pandemic is a disease epidemic that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents, or worldwide. Such as the Corona Virus which broke out year 2019 (COVID-19) & The HantaVirus of the year 2020. This Pandemic doesn't only affect & shut down the activities of Educational Institution but also all types of institution all around the world. Institutions & Activities Nationwide & Worldwide are all set to lockdown till the cure or remedy to the various diseases are found and also to avoid the spread of the various disease.

Nairaland / General / Discussion: How Connection Has Eroded The Place Of Merit In Nigeria by Hrmkingobi(m): 2:05am On Oct 08, 2019
In Nigeria today, the word ‘connection’ seems to be the family term for nepotism, favoritism, godfather-ism and a less suspicious term for corruption.
Every aspect of Nigerian life is affected by this term.
Who do you know?
Who is your father?
Which family do you come from?
What sort of influence does your family wield politically?
Who are in your circle? and the list is endless.
The answer to these questions, no matter how you tend to look at it, determines how far one goes or how much one achieves in this country.
There are also instances where job positions are kept for children and relatives of those in the position of recruitment, while those who have no connection but meritoriously deserve the position are left to continue the struggle of job hunting.
Connection can be said to thrive more in government institutions. From recruitments to something as basic as getting a file signed, some government officials will drag an ordinary citizen without any connection through hell but would jump into action as soon as one with the right connection shows up at the door.
There have also been instances where people have been told to get a referral letter from a particular senator of their constituency in order to be eligible to apply for a job position.
Even government hospitals are not left out of the connection craze. Patients with connection are quickly attended to but those without any connection are made to wait almost endlessly to see a doctor.
Connection has ruined many things in Nigeria, but sadly there doesn’t seem to be hope in sight.
Somebody once said on social media, when corruption favors a person, they call it connection.
Is connection harmless?

Politics / Buhari Will Not Fail Nigerians: Pastor Tunde Bakare by Hrmkingobi(m): 7:29pm On Oct 06, 2019
The Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has said that no ethnic group in Nigeria has the exclusive right to hold presidential office while also declaring that President Muhammadu Buhari will not fail Nigerians.
The cleric said this on Sunday during his annual state of the nation address to commemorate the nation’s 59th independence anniversary.
In his address titled ‘Resetting the nation on the path of predictable progress’, Pastor Bakare advised the adoption of a zonal security system which will scrap out the Nigeria Police Force and replace it with Zonal Police Force.
He also asked that ethnic and mutual suspicion be kept away, that no ethnicity has the exclusivity to any political office.
“No ethnic nationality has monopoly on any of the offices.
“This is no time for mutual suspicion, there should be collaboration.
“The infighting must stop. Nigeria is going through a resetting on the path of predictable progress.
“It is time to rebuild and reset, and rebuilding has to be done zone by zone, ” he concluded.[https://www.365nobs.com/2019/10/buhari-will-not-fail-nigerians-pastor.html]

Celebrities / Reasons Why You’re A One-night Stand by Hrmkingobi(m): 6:39pm On Oct 06, 2019
Irrespective of the fact that people hook up these days and have relationships with no-strings-attached, there are some persons out there who have been looking for love their whole life but all they end up with is silly booty calls and casual flings; which is not the perfect recipe for a lasting relationship BTW.
It’s weird knowing that you seem to have it all, beauty and brains and a great body to boot, yet you have no luck with men. The question is, what exactly are you doing wrong?

Romance / Things Men Pay Attention To That You Never Knew by Hrmkingobi(m): 4:18am On Sep 17, 2019
Have you ever caught your spouse or a random lover giving you long looks that make you want to get all up into their mind just to have a know-how of what they are thinking about?
Okay, it might interest you to know that that man is observing you, your smile, quirks, laughter, diet, and every other thing, but will he give that away? No way!
Now, here’s a short list of things men pay attention to but you don’t.
1.How much makeup you wear

Maybe at this point in your life, you don’t see your beauty touch overs as much of a big deal but your man does and he’ll probably compliment you and all but in your mind he’s just being gentlemanly. Well, jokes on you, cause that gentleman already feels that you getting all dolled up for a date with him pretty much means that you care about him. A lot.

2.Your facial expressions
A man who’s all up into you would notice even the tiniest crease on your forehead and the play of emotions on your face while conversing with you. He might not get to know what exactly is going on in your head but I bet you, that man has probably mastered your facial expressions by heart enough to know what makes you tick.

Romance / Six Ways To Make Your Long-distance Relationship Work Better by Hrmkingobi(m): 3:09am On Sep 17, 2019
But the truth is long distance relationships can work. Although dating is hard and takes a lot of commitment from both parties, there are ways you can keep your long distance relation going.
Below you will find tips on how to strengthen your bond with your partner:
1. Avoid too much communication
Generally, the standards as to what is considered too much communication varies from couple to couple. There are two extremities: the couple that communicates too much and the couple who doesn’t communicate enough. You don’t need to compensate for the distance by strangling each other with possessiveness.
There are couples who can last without speaking for three days and remain married for thirty years and there are some who speak every hour and break up after two months. Sometimes when you are calling for too long, there are some jealous questions your partner might want to ask, maybe because your partner hears the voice of a guy around you or that of a female as the case may be, essentially.
The best thing to do is to just go with the flow and do what is normal for your relationship, avoiding too much communication. Some people even spend the whole time quarreling with their partners on phone about past events than discussing relevant and present issues. Remember too much of everything is bad.
2. Keep your outing with friends on a low
Some partners are the jealous and overprotective types. They won’t want to hear that you’re hanging out with a friend, be it male or female. Some male partners get jealous when you hang out with your female friend or a with male friend except if the female friend is someone they have met before. They might have the feeling that the female friend is teaching you some bad things like cheating, partying, clubbing etc.
Your partner might even get angrier when he gets to know that you are handing out with a male friend. You know your partner more than I do, you know what can upset him, so be wise it is not every place you visit you’ll tell him or her to avoid, jealousy and anger.
3. Do things together.
Doing things together can mean a variety of things. visit site for more[https://dailyworldtip..com/2019/07/how-to-make-friends-and-create-strong.html][https://dailyworldtip..com/2019/07/how-to-make-friends-and-create-strong.html]
