The Nigerian Football Federation has paid $500,000 to the victorious Nigeria under 23 players that won the last African u-23 championship in Senegal. On Saturday, Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-1 to become the winners of the second edition of the U23 AFCON. Each player earned $12,000 while Head Coach Samson Siasia took about $24,000.

A further breakdown showed the team were paid the Naira equivalent of $4,000-a-player for the final win, $3,000-a-man for the semi-final win over hosts Senegal, $2,000-a-man for the opening-day win over Mali, and $1,000 for the draws with Egypt and Algeria.

They were also paid $100 per day for the 10 days they trained in The Gambia prior to this championship, which amounted to $1,000. “All what they were owed have been sorted now,” according to an NFF official.

The Dream Team, Algeria and South Africa will represent Africa at next year’s Rio Olympics.

Workers under the employ of the Lagos State Government today lauded the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode over the payment of 25% of basic salary as End-of-the-Year Bonus to them including employees of local governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board.

Some of the workers who spoke with journalists expressed deep appreciation and delights over what they described as one of the numerous steps taken by the Governor to accord public servants in the state their rightful position in the scheme of things and better their lot.

According to one of the workers, though previous administration in the state had been paying end of the year bonuses ranging between 10 percent and 15 percent of their basic salary, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s gesture of paying 25 percent is not only a welcome development but also commendable.

Yoruba movie actress Toyin Aimakhu has opened her new film school in Ibadan.

The actress disclosed that she has opened a film school in Ibadan at D’Rovans/Wallan Hotel, Ring Road Ibadan, Oyo state. She named it, ‘’Toyin Aimakhu Films Academy.’’

Toyin said she opened the school as a way of giving back to the society having benefited from her fans support all these years. Toyin added that so many people have called her over the years pleading to be just like her, so she thought it wise to set up the school and groom people to be like her and follow their dreams.

Many people have been calling me that they want to be like me and I feel the only way for them to be like me is to get a good training. So, I decided to set up a school where they can get trained. I have been thinking of how to give back to the society and I realized that this is an avenue to do so.

Toyin who like her colleagues in the industry, Muyiwa Ademola and Femi Adebayo, who both own Film Schools in the ancient city attributed choosing the loation as being a place they were born and brought up. She also gave the fact that properties in Lagos are expensive.

Many people don’t know I’m an Ibadan girl. Though I am a native of Edo state, I was brought up Ibadan. Initially, I was considering setting up the school in Lagos, but the cost of land there is outrageous. ‘Where we are using now is not really ours, we have a big site that we are building and it will be completed next year. We decided to start the school this year because the pressure on us to kick off is very high.

A passenger on a Zhengzhou-to-Haikou flight captured these photos of an air hostess feeding a paralyzed passenger. The photos posted online has since gone viral with many people hailing her kind gesture. After seeing 71-year-old Niu struggling to eat, air hostess Fan Xuesong went above and beyond her duty, to help him eat.

The retired medical professor from Henan Province was traveling with his wife to Haikou. Due to paralysis from cerebral infarction two years ago, Niu is dependent on a wheelchair entirely, so the aircrew had transferred him to the only remaining wider seat in the first row. And as his wife was separated and seated a few rows behind, she couldn’t help him.

"The moment I asked to feed him, he just burst into tears," Fan told the Zhengzhou Evening News. Serving passengers was her responsibility, Fan said when Niu thanked her for her service.

A concerned woman shared photos of a badly beaten 9 year old Onyinyechi on her Facebook page, saying Onyinye, who serves as a housemaid, was beaten by her madam/aunty. How you can beat a girl this little, to the extent that you leave marks on her body and give her a red patch on her eye is beyond me. People like this should be arrested. Below is what the woman shared on Facebook.

A little girl called Onyinyechi (9yrs) always come to my mum’s shop where am currently working while waiting for youth service, to buy some things for her Aunty. This little girl is always full of smiles but only when you take a closer look at her, would you see the agony she passes through in the hands of her madam.

On Monday when she came to the shop, there were blood stains on her cloth and when I looked at her head, I saw that it was broken in two different places.

When I asked who did that to her, she said that it was her Aunty that broke her head because her aunty’s daughter’s baby food finished and she did not tell her. I was close to tears and when I asked if she had eaten she said no, by 12pm ooo

I wanted to send in this post that day but I decided to wait but what I saw today was another level of wickedness.

Onyinyechi came to the shop today to see me, to show me the latest designs her aunty made on her body with bite and belt marks included. Flogging her with belt and giving her a red patch on her eye was not enough, she had to bite her too and she is not going to school.

Please readers, I would love it if any human right worker can help this little girl before she dies in the hands of her madam please help. The names of her parents are Mr and Mrs Bernard and Rose Nkrem in Umunoha, Imo State, but she does not have their contact or that of any of her siblings.

If any of you recognises this girl or know her parents, please contact them to come and take their daughter away before her corpse will be all that is left to take. God bless you all.
