COMING GENERATION SCARES ME...REAL HARD!
While we have been busy talking about Nigeria of
today, I wonder if we have spared a thought about how
this country will be in the next TWENTY-FIVE years. On
October 1, 1979, when Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu
Shagari was sworn-in as president, Goodluck Jonathan
was just a 22 year-old undergrad of University of Port-
Harcourt. Shagari was 54 years old. Ayo Fayose was
19 years old. Bukola Saraki was 17. Yemi Osinbajo was
22. The generation of the likes of Shagari, Richard
Akinjide, Adisa Akinloye, Sabo Barkin Zuwo, Ifeanyi
Nwobodo, Ume Ezeoke, Akin Omoboriowo, Olusola
Saraki, Sunday Awoniyi, Garba Nadama, Awal Ibrahim
and so on has gone for good! Some of us in our 40s
and 50s, when in school, either in the university or
secondary school, had lofty dreams, both personal and
societal. We were always motivated by nationalists and
inventors who had impacted positively on the cause of
humanity. We were voracious readers of novels and
other books. Nelkon for our Ordinary Level Physics,
Lambert for Chemistry, B.O ADELEKE and Goh Cheng
Leong for our Geography, Phebean Ogundipe for
Practical English, Achebe and Soyinka for Literature
and others like that. We were always flaunting our
knowledge of current affairs. Inter-school quiz, Literary
and Debating competition were the in-thing. Nowadays,
students can hardly string a sentence together in
English without errors.
Fast forward 35 years on and you are shocked and
disturbed. Have you ever spoken to or engaged a 20
year-old boy? Ask him what motivates him and he is
likely to mention music, hip hop to be precise. He has
hundreds of downloaded songs on his phone. He can
sing all of them off hand. He knows all the singles of
Nice, Neato C, Timaya, Davido, Whiz Kid off had. The
babes among them take pride in enticing men old
enough to be their father on social media with buxomly
physique. But s/he does not know anything about
history of nationalism in the country. Ideas about good
society, responsible family and good conduct do not
motivate him. He just wants to make money because
his friend who does yahoo is rich and rides a good car,
her friend who has numerous ‘aristos’ drives a SUV!
The things that interest him/her are things that do not
add value. S/he has google but never uses it for
advancement of knowledge but to download porn and
other inanities. Yet, in TWENTY years time, they are
the ones that will be contesting to become governors,
senators, Reps members and even president. They
belong to a generation that does not care about
morality. They belong to a generation that is motivated
only by money and its acquisition. By 2035 to 2040,
they will be our senators, Reps, governors and so on. I
wonder if we have ever spared a thought for how this
country will look like under them. I told a man recently
and these are my words: IF A GUY WHO IS IN LAGOS
COULD USE FALSE PRETENCE TO
OBTAIN $20,000 FROM SOMEONE IN UNITED STATES,
WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IF SUCH A GUY
BECOMES A STATE GOVERNOR AND IS IN CHARGE
OF AN ALLOCATION HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE TO
OBTAIN UNDER FALSE PRETENCE? WHICH HIS STATE
IS STATUTORILY ENTITLED TO. How did we get into
this mess? How can we get out of this predicament? I
am worried, deeply worried. Are you? coined from www.fb.com/tomiymb.victor |
The hard and soft
copies of the 2016
budget documents
President
Muhammadu Buhari
handed over to the
leadership of the
National Assembly on
December 22, 2015
have been declared
missing, PREMIUM
TIMES can
authoritatively report
today.
The Nigerian Senate
was scheduled to
commence
deliberation on the
proposed budget
Tuesday.
But Senate Leader, Ali
Ndume, shocked
lawmakers at a
closed-door session,
when he told them
the budget
documents had been
stolen, people familiar
with the matter told
PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Ndume, our
sources said,
explained that
deliberation on the
budget could
therefore not begin
until fresh copies of
the document are
obtained from the
presidency or the
ministry of national
planning.
The Chairman, Senate
Committee of
Appropriation,
Danjuma Goje, was
subsequently
mandated to lead a
search for the
documents and liaise
with the presidency,
the Senior Special
Assistant to the
President on National
Assembly Matters,
Ita Enang, and the
national planning
ministry on the
matter.
The Senators also
resolved that the
matters be kept
under wraps, saying
making it public could
embarrass the
presidency, the
National Assembly
and the country.
Our sources said
senators of the
Peoples Democratic
Party accused the
presidency of being
behind the theft of
the documents, an
accusation rejected by
their All Progressives
Congress’
counterparts, saying
it was too early to
speculate.
Some lawmakers told
PREMIUM TIMES they
are suspicious that
the presidency might
have colluded with the
management of the
National Assembly to
quietly withdraw the
documents after
detecting some
discrepancies in them.
“Can you imagine this
kind of national
embarrassment?” one
senator asked. A
document that was
presented with
fanfare has been
stolen.”
The spokesperson for
the senate, Aliyu
Abdullahi,could not
been reached for
comments. So also is
Senator
President Muhammad
Buhari had on
December 22,2015
presented a N6.08
trillion budget for the
fiscal year 2016
before a joint session
of the National
Assembly.
It was the first time
in three years a
Nigerian President
would personally
present a budget
before the National
Assembly.
But weeks after the
budget was
presented to
lawmakers, there
were speculations
that Mr. Buhari had
withdrawn the
documents to enable
him to correct some
discrepancies, a claim
the presidency and
the national planning
ministry.
In the budget, capital
expenditure takes
N1.8 trillion, marking a
significant over 300
per cent increment
from the 2015 vote of
N557 billion.
According to the
estimate, N396billion
is voted for education,
being the largest
sectoral allocation.
The health sector
gets N296 billion while
defence has N294
billion. |

Geology is a good course in which students really want to study, but alas, the lecturers in this department are so wicked and heartless. I taught this only happens in my school, till when a student from another university came home for xmas and xplain d issue in his school also. In his own school the overral best student in 100level when he entered the department by 200, was called n sat down by the lecturers n he was told he cant passout with 1st class...same for my school no geology student ever pass out with 1st class... Lecturers will keep marking you down. I believe this does apen to only geology dept ot only this two universities. Nigerian lecturers are so wicked, not that the student arnt try but what will you do to a lecturer that already told you that A is for God, B is for him, while C is for the sharp students. We can see Nigerian students making 1stvclass abroad but not here MOST THIS TREND CONTINUE? |

LETTER TO MTN
Dear MTN,
I will not go and re-register my line. You can fool
everyone if you like, you might have fooled
me before, but you would never fool me again.
The only reason while you continue to pull the
wool over our gullible eyes is because the
consumer rights’ protection agencies are either in
the vegetative state, or completely dead.
How can you explain a situation where you would
tell your millions of teeming subscribers to register
their SIM cards and provide the necessary bio-
data, only for you to wake up one morning to tell
us to go and register our lines again WITH
ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION? It beats my
imagination and it defies not just logic, but also
philosophy. Were you drunk when you were
registering our numbers? Did a malicious virus
wipe your entire database?
Maybe I’m giving you too much credit sef. You
probably wrote the records in books like an
ancient bookkeeper and a giant yellow rat ate them
all. Whatever your reasons (or lack of reasons)
may be, this is beyond ridiculous.
I have always maintained an MTN line because
apart from being my very first line, most of my
close associates also use MTN. To some extent,
the coverage is also extensive. I didn’t hesitate
when the directive came from NCC to register our
lines. I braved the queue, registered my line and
collected my security number. Didn’t I try enough?
Looking back, I can deduce that my attachment to
MTN was more sentimental than practical, as your
tariffs are the highest for calls and for browsing.
You send an average of 100 spam texts per day,
enough to run down a Blackberry battery and more
than enough to give any Osun State government
worker waiting for Aregbesola’s alert acute
hypertension. Your nuisance value knows no
bounds.
Even Airtel that has been passed round different
investors more times than a devil’s mail bag has
not come up with this kind of Grade A foolishness.
What the heck is wrong with you? Don’t your
customers mean anything to you? Doesn’t it bother
you that Nigerians who
wasted their time to register their SIM cards have
to do the same thing again? You haven’t
even deemed it fit to fine-tune the process. It
doesn’t make sense to preserve bad experiences
like these, in very much the same way that one
relic of history is preserving mud huts, and stating
them on an assets’ declaration form.
My records are not on your database, but you
remember my number when you want to tell me to
text ‘YES’ to win a missing plot of land in Port-
Harcourt, right? May heavy-duty thunder
fire all of una. I really don’t blame you. If Nigerians
had run your devious, xenophobic, exploitative,
heartless, opportunistic, fraudulent ass back to
South Africa, you wouldn’t be here making them
queue desperately like migrants.
What’s to say that there wouldn’t be another sham
registration in the next couple of months since you
guys obviously don’t know what you are doing?
You blocked my line, you have helped me. Prior to
your ridiculous directive, I had already banished
your yeye SIM card to a barely functional phone. I
have even borrowed the maximum permissible
amount. Go ahead, feel free. It sure feels great
knowing that when I eventually toss the phone into
the trash-can, I won’t have to take out the SIM.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
You deserve to be sued for every fraudulent penny
you’ve ever made on our shores. Thanks to other
service providers for making sure that your evil
dream of becoming a monopoly will forever remain
a demented hallucination. There are so many
fishes in the ocean. I will not tolerate your
recklessness any longer. Peace at last....
This letter speaks my mind.
Please forward till it reach those Idiot office |

Summary Overview: Starting a Blog Follow the step-by-step instructions in this blog post to learn how to start a blog in less than an hour. We used this process to create our successful blog, which now has more than 4 million readers and has been featured in the New York Times, TIME magazine, and on the TODAY show. Select your platform, domain name, and hosting. Easily create a unique design by choosing a theme. Modify your blog until you have your desired look. Select the best plugins for your blog. Write compelling content that adds value to readers. NOTE: Niteclass‘ blog is hosted by Google. For only for free How to Start a Blog or Website: Step-by-Step Instructions So you don’t have any idea where to start, right? Guess what—neither did I. I was clueless. When I started NiteClass few years ago, we had no idea how to start a blog. I could hardly spell HTML, let alone build a beautiful website. But good news: it’s easier than you think. We’ve learned a ton during our ascent to 4 million readers. And now you can learn from our pain and suffering to circumvent much of the tedium involved in creating a successful blog. Here’s how we started our blog, step by step, followed by additional rationale and insights below: Domain and Hosting. The first thing I did was go to blogger, com and register . get your domain at Whogohost. I didn’t even need to set up a blogger page first, since blogger does all that for you. Theme. A good theme gives you the look and feel you want for your blog, allowing you to design your blog exactly how you want it to look. If you’re not a coder (I certainly weren’t), then a theme makes the design work a million times easier. Plus, once you purchase a theme, which are inexpensive for the time they save you, you own it for life. A theme has two halves: the framework (the bones) and the Child Theme (the beauty): Tinkering. Once I had my domain, hosting, blogger and theme, I spent a lot of time tweaking the theme to get the look and feel I wanted (i.e., making my vision a reality). Then I spent even more time tweaking the theme and arguing about it and tweaking it some more. I also set up a free Feedburner account so people could subscribe to our site via email and RSS subscriptions. And then we established a free Google Analytics account to track our stats. Feedburner and Google Analytics were both easy to sign up for, and I still use both today. Plugins. We use only a few widget on my site: Google Analytics for Blogger” and really simple Facebook and Twitter share-button plugins (since human beings are intrinsically wired to share value, it’s important to make your posts easy to share with others). They take just a few seconds (literally a few seconds, it’s just a click of a button) to install once your site is all set up. Content. Last, via Blogger we started writing and uploading the content for our pages: About Page, Contact Page, Start Here Page, Books Page, Events Page, Archives Page, etc. Next, I designed my logo using free images I found online and text from a regular word-processing program. Then I put a picture of ourselves in the header (this is important because people identify with people, not logos). Finally I started writing new blog posts and posting them regularly (at least once a week). And the rest is history. Oladele Tomilayo Image result for money Managing money effectively is a key success skill. Successful people make the decision to become effective with money, many of them early in life. Like any area of life, it is important to educate yourself about the threats and challenges in the world. Taking the time to master a few key principles will pay off for years to come. 1. They don’t overspend; they live on less than they make. Living on less than you make is an essential money management skill. Some of the world’s wealthiest people have taken this principle to heart. For example, Sir John Templeton, a legendary investor who became a billionaire, saved 50% of his income even when he grew up with limited means. If that is more than you manage, don’t worry! You can reach financial success by saving 10-15% of your income. Tip: Learning to live on less than you earn takes time. Start by looking for ways to save money: 55 Practical Ways To Save Money Efficiently. 2. They don’t fixate on price; they understand the importance of value. The price you pay for an investment, a meal or piece of clothing is only part of the story. Successful people also think about the value of that good. For investments, they consider the prospects for the investment growing in the future. For personal items, they look for high quality products that will last. For example, a well made pair of business shoes may cost $200 or more but these shoes can last for years with proper care. Tip: Buy high quality products that will last for a long time. 3. They don’t waste cash on fees and interest; they know how to manage their banking Carrying a balance on your credit card is incredibly expensive and sadly common. According to CNN, the average American household carried over $15,000 in credit card debt. Successful people also keep an eye on their bank fees–how much they pay for ATM use and other transactions. These fees are easy to avoid with planning once you understand how the system works. Simply reviewing your financial accounts for 5-10 minutes each month is all it takes to understand your fees. Discover: 7 Essential Ways To Avoid Unnecessary Bank Charges. 4. They don’t forget to adjust their finances after big changes in life. Did you get married recently? Is your spouse referenced in your will? These are some of the points that financially successful people manage effectively. While you can automate a great deal of your finances, it is vital to make adjustments when your life and family circumstances change significantly. Sitting down by yourself (or with a financial expert) at least once a year to review your life and financial plan is an excellent way to stay on top of important changes. Learn: Arrange your finances for the long term with estate planning. 5. They are not satisfied with a stagnant income; they look for ways to increase their income. Some people never ask for more money or simply settle for 1-3% increases. Unfortunately, that rate of income growth means you are simply standing still–inflation is slowly eating away at your purchasing power. Instead, successful people look for ways to earn more income. Increased income gives you more options for personal enjoyment, more capacity to give money, and a sense of security. Successful people take daily action to increase their income. For example, they take a course to improve their skills or they contribute ideas to improve the productivity of their companies. They also know how to ask for more money. Tip: Do yourself a favor and learn about high paying fields: earn $100,000 in project management and discover the highest paid jobs in America. 6. They don’t ignore financial statements. Reaching financial success requires some slow and steady habits. That includes forming a habit to monitor your financial statements. Successful people set a time each month–30 to 60 minutes–to review all of their financial accounts: investments, bank accounts, credit cards and more. When they detect an error or omission, they take immediate action. Tip: Set a recurring reminder in your calendar each month to review your financial accounts. 7. They don’t take foolish risks in money. Warren Buffet is often quoted as saying, “Rule number one is never lose money.” All investments carry some measure of risk (and therefore the potential to lose money). That said, successful people use two powerful tools to avoid losses. They understand the value of insurance to control risk (e.g. home, auto, and life insurance) and the importance of asset allocation. Remember: If it sounds too good to be true (or if you don’t understand how it works), slow down and start asking plenty of questions. 8. They don’t pretend to understand everything when it comes to money. The world is a vast and complex place–successful people know and deeply understand this truth. When it comes to money, there is a lot of information out there. That’s why successful people like Warren Buffet understand their limits and focus on their strengths. Tip: Review your knowledge of money and investments. If you are just starting out, read one or two classic personal finance books. Or read 9 Can’t-Miss Secrets Behind Warren Buffett’s Wealth for more insights from one of the world’s most successful investors. 9. They don’t transfer responsibility to experts. Successful people do seek out the advice of experts, yet they never yield responsibility. For example, it is reasonable to seek advice from a tax accountant in planning your financial affairs. However, successful people take the time to ask questions and evaluate the person providing advice to them. Tip: When seeking advice from professionals like accountants and lawyers, ask questions and seek to have the advice explained to you. Otherwise, it is difficult to act on the advice. 10. They don’t let the pursuit of money overcome other values. Seeking financial success is a valid goal. Significant financial resources give you more options to give to causes you believe in. It also means improved access to technology, health care and leisure. However, successful people understand that financial success is only one aspect of a successful life. For example, neglecting health in the pursuit of money is a poor strategy. Tip: Review your personal goals to see if you have a balance between financial goals, career goals, family goals and other activities. source http://www.tominigeria.com/2015/07/10-money-mistakes-which-successful.html |
