A 35-year-old driver, Ahamed Kolo, was allegedly arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, for attempting to murder Governor Ayodele Fayose.

According to reports, Kolo had allegedly tried to kill the governor, by hitting him with his car.

The incident allegedly occurred at Ijigbo Street in Ado-Ekiti, on Sunday, September 24.

A man was savagely beaten after he was descended upon for calling someone ‘mad man’ in Kano state.
According to reports, the young man was involved in a squabble over an undisclosed matter with a man identified as Ibrahim before insulting him by calling him a mad man.

Four suspected internet fraudsters, Shiko Romeo, Bobby Edigiu, Henry Nisike and Emmanuel Ayo were arrested recently by men of the Nigeria police force on suspicion of being involved in internet fraud. According to reports by PoliticsNGR they’d be arraigned in court by the Benin Zonal office of the EFCC.

President Muhammadu Buhari is to spend four days in London before returning to Nigeria, his special adviser on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, has confirmed. From Adesina’s confirmation, President Buhari is expected back in Nigeria on Monday, September 25.

The Punch reports that Adesina did not give the actual reason Buhari is in London.

Suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyichukwu Maxwell Dike, who escaped from the custody of the Rivers State Police Command last month, has revealed how he managed to get to Jos, after been rearrested by the Plateau State Police Command.

Dike, a 300-level Physics student at the University of Port Harcourt, was apprehended by a vigilance group on his way to dispose off the body of 8-year-old Victory Chikqmso, whom he allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered.

He, however, escaped at the state CID, barely 24 hours after being paraded. But the Plateau State Police Commissioner, Mr. Peter Ogunyanwo, said the culprit was rearrested in Jos, after breaking into a house in Barkin Ladi to steal.

Dike while speaking with journalists, said he travelled to Jos from Port Harcourt through a trailer that loaded goods to Jos. “I came to Jos on August 21, 2017 because I was trying to run away from the alleged ritual offense I was said to have committed, but I am not a ritual killer.

I only had sex with the girl and cut off her body while trying to escape from the environment, but I am not a ritual killer,” he said.

While speaking on why he was arrested trying to robbed a house in Barkin Ladi he said: “I thought it was an abandoned house because I was looking for a place to hide so that people will not identify me, but unfortunately the owner was in the house and he raised alarm then I was arrested.”

The State Security Service (SSS), on Saturday, announced the arrest of Husseini Maitangaran, a top commander of by Islamic State of West Africa (ISWA), otherwise known as Boko Haram. He was arrested in Kano on 31 August. Maitangaran, according to a statement issued by the service, spearheaded several deadly attacks in Kano in 2012.

The statement, signed by SSS spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, said the service arrested other top Boko Haram terrorists, who were part of a foiled plan to disrupt the last Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states.

This followed the discovery of an elaborate plan by ISWA terrorists to launch attacks that would have disrupted the Eid-el-Kabir festivities that took place between 1 and 4th September.

According to the SSS, the plan entailed gun attacks and suicide bombing on selected targets in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states. The Service identified Maitangaran as the mastermind, adding that he had been on the wanted list of the SSS and the Nigerian Army since he coordinated the armed attacks on the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone I on January 20, 2012, and other public places in Kano.

The Nigerian army on Sunday allegedly invaded the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, barely 24 hours after it announced the start of its second phase of Operation Python Dance II in the South-Eastern states.

DAILY POST, however, gathered that the military personnel, who stormed Kanu’s home with an armoured vehicle were resisted by some members of the pro-Biafra group.

Some IPOB were reportedly shot in the process.

According to the spokesman of IPOB, Emma Powerful, about five youths were killed and about 30 were injured.

“The Hausa Fulani soldiers and Police Nigerian uniforms came to kill our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in his compound at Afaraukwu Umuahia and started shooting sporadically and killed five people and up to thirty people with bullets wounds, after attacking our people they went off, they came with 5 hilux vans,” he said.

Every effort made to obtain reaction from the Nigerian Army failed as the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Enugu, Colonel Sagir Musa did not pick all the calls put across to his mobile line.

Earlier, the Igbo National Council (INC) gave the Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Burutai, a 21-day ultimatum to end the recently launched ‘Operation Python Dance II’ and withdraw his men from the Southeast region.

Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Saturday, declared that Nigeria as a nation would have become history if not for the coming on board of the Pres. Buhari’s administration.

Australian returnee, Stephen Ogho-Oghene Akpata, has been arrested by the police in Bayelsa State for killing his wife an employee of Glo Network, Onyinye, after making love to her for about an hour.
Akpata, who confessed to committing the dastardly act when paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo, was arrested in Lagos following his failed attempt to flee to Ghana.

Asuquo said the incident was first reported to the police on August 16 at about 2pm when one Moses Awo complained that Onyinye, 33, failed to report to her place of work.

He said Awo told the police that some workers went to her apartment in search of her and discovered that the door was locked but that her television set was on and loud.

Asuquo said a police team, who went to the apartment found the body of the deceased, who hailed from Abia State, in the pool of her blood.

He said: “The room was scattered and the deceased was lying dead facing the ground in a pool of blood. We recovered three quarter knickers, a park of canvass, one damaged pressing iron, a jean jacket, pen knife, pink underwear, a Nokia handset and a damaged wristwatch, from the scene”.

On how the deceased was killed, Amba said: “Marks of violence on the deceased’s head, face, neck and body revealed that the deceased was strangled with the pressing iron and its coil tied round her neck and stabbed with a knife to her death”.

A young man who is a well known Yahoo boy was apprehended and disgraced after he was caught red-handed eating faeces while doing the new Yahoo plus.

A suspected young internet fraudster a.k.a Yahoo Boy, identified simply as Junior Clement who claimed to come from Warri in Delta state, was beaten up and disgraced by local residents after he was caught red-handed eating faeces in an effort to defraud foreign victims in the new ‘Yahoo plus’ scam.

According to the video clip, during his interrogation, he admitted that he was instructed by native doctor to eat faeces after which anything he demands of his client will be given without delay.

The United States government has sold warplanes worth $181 billion to the Nigerian government in its bid to combat the Islamic sect Boko Haram.

According to Punch, the US Department of Defence (Pentagon) informed the Congress of the sale of 12 Super Tucano A-29 ground attack aircraft and weapons to Nigeria.

The sale of the 12 ground attack vehicles is said to be valued at $593 million (N181 billion).
The Super Tucano is said to be “an agile, propeller-driven plane with reconnaissance and surveillance as well as attack capabilities, is made by Brazil’s Embraer.”

Senator Christopher Coons, Head of the US Congress Delegation, said during an assessment visit to the Theatre Command of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in Maiduguri on Tuesday, that the US is dedicated to helping Nigeria defeat the Boko Haram insurgency.

According to NAN, he said the visit was designed to appraise the performance of the military and to enable him to understand the challenges facing the Armed Forces in accomplishing its mission to defeat the insurgents. He said:

I am pleased to head the Delegation of the U.S. Congress; three Senators and three House members to come and hear about the hard work of the military in the Northeast of Nigeria.
