Your headline read 'Super Clean Toyota Corolla'. I believe you could have taken it one step further and added the tag 'As New'. Either you have an incredible eye for photography, (and quite clearly you do, and have a darn good camera), or this car is the real deal! Lucky you to own it to advertise, and lucky person whoever gets to afford it and drive it away. I unfortunately, as I suspect some of us here who have quoted an offer, haven't quite got the ready readies to make a valid offer on the car. But safe to say, it looks in my humble opinion to be one of, if not the cleanest cars landed in Nigeria that I have ever seen since I have been on here. Good luck with your sale. A very nice car indeed. ![]() |
rockyfela:I think you will find that Gerrard has been cleared as fit to play, and maybe that fact alone might tip your prediction of a draw into a winning game for 'Pool. No doubt as I have already alluded to, no doubt a bit of a nail biter. |
Great to see that there are Liverpool supporters here on Nairaland. Liverpool came ever so close last season, but ultimately fell that little bit short, needless to say the expectation for fans for this team, for this season is nothing less than H-U-G-E!!! After a thoroughly miserable pre-season, the loss of Xabi Alonso, and only two major signings in Johnson, and in the 'we won't see him on the pitch until October' Aquilani, I'm personally a little nervous about this fixture. There are easier teams in the Prem to have to face on your opening day, and the men from White Heart Lane are certainly not in that category. But on the upside, though the corresponding fixture ended in an unlikely loss for Liverpool last season, the Anfield faithful will remember the last competitive game Liverpool had on the last day of the season was against Tottenham, and that we won at a stroll. Guarantee your hearts to flutter, and one or two hairy moments most especially in defence. Watch for Johnson's dubious defensive abilities, but should Lucas step to the fore, Mascherano forget Barca and remember the quality Liverpool player that he is, and of course Kuyt, Gerrard, and Torres to all come to the party then my word a hard fought victory for Liverpool should be on the cards. Well that's me off to regulate my BP before kick-off!!! ![]() |

Oh, forgot to put the model of battery I'm looking for, Its a VGP-BPS9/B- just in case there is someone out there who has a few that are new and spare and wouldn't mind selling to a desperate soul for a reasonable price. ![]() |
I own a Sony Vaio AR51E, and thanks to the joys of our dear friends at THAT electricity company, my machine now believes a full charge of its battery means it should dispense only twenty minutes of battery life! Over the weekend, I was at Computer Village in Ikeja with a techy friend of mine to buy a replacement battery. I had my reservations about the certainly China replica and definitely not Sony original that was placed in my hand, but as I had exhausted not only my feet but all retailers selling batteries in the vicinity, I decided to fork over the 12 grand cost for the thing. Needless to say, my Vaio is a lot smarter than gormless me- the battery charging LED simply blinks rapidly, while the computer itself probably rightly ignores attempts to turn it on- even after many hours of patiently waiting for it to charge. The long and short: the battery is not compatible with the laptop. (Big surprise!, not) I like my Vaio, even if its about as portable as a molue, and while one of my tasks today will be to return the dubious battery it to its rightful owner (don't worry, I'm not delusional- at least not quite yet, I asked for and got a 3-month warranty), I still need to get my hands on a genuine battery replacement. This is where my Nairalander bros and sisters come in, Please respond if any know of a reputable company that sells Sony computing parts, or alternatively do Sony have a computing customer support franchise in Nigeria? I know of the Sony Centre, but of that which I'm aware, they only sell retail consumer electronics. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong. I saw on another thread that quite a few people use Sony and like me value their rugged build factor, but surely one or two people must have had similar parts and replacement availability issues?!? If so, how did you guys source for your parts? And yes, let me save you the wahala of typing to that person that wants to suggest I simply buy a plane ticket for the battery and have it flown in- I had someone who recently came back from one of our favored Away destinations, but her visit was so short, I didn't even get a chance to blink before she was back. There is also no hope of getting anyone going in that direction until September, by which time one or two things might have happened a. I would have torn all my hair out and started working on the locks of my nearest and dearest in fustration or b. I will have hurled the Vaio against the wall and then run over it for good measure! Please help spare my hair, and my apologies in advance if a similar topic or issue that deals with the foregoing has already been posted elsewhere. |
A member of my family owns an Audi A4, and I recently swapped cars with her for an evening. I found the A4 to be quite the stunner in the looks department, its muscular lines and flared wheel arches give it a truly sporty modern aesthetic that turned a few heads while I had it I can tell you. But I also importantly found that the incredible visibility I enjoy in my less than head turning Honda Accord 98-2002 was nowhere to be found in the sportier A4. I compare the two simply because it is the car that I had swapped for the night. I can only imagine in a straight shoot out between the A4 and a fighter jet as to which had the more complicated instrumentation panel, the A4 would win hands down! Getting out of the thing was like performing a systems check each and every time, so varied and many were the sheer number of buttons that had to be pressed and prodded to park it (or conversely ignite it as they case may be). Perhaps I was suffering from a little bit of culture shock coming from the confines of my Honda Accord which is anything but complicated having all its dials and knobs in full view, easy to understand and certainly not suggesting you needed a Phd to qualify to drive it. Infact, at one point the car prompted on its in dash display that I keep my foot on the brake when not engaging the gears. Thanks mate, I never would have guessed that! But perhaps the car has a point, as one thing the A4 has to burn in spades is speed. It is effortlessly quick in delivering power, and remarkably balanced while doing so. The ride in the A4 is further aided by the firm feel on the road, this is no Honda Civic lightweight, this is a balanced German road machine made to be driven. Yet for all the gushing over the cars innate drivability, I couldn't quite get over the quality (or lack thereof) in the interior finish. All those buttons having to be pressed for the air conditioning, climate control and the like on the dash had basically been wiped clean of all literature, there were squeaks within the cabin which I swear shouldn't have been audible, with the general interior falling apart or looking more than a little worse for wear. You might argue that the owner was responsible for the state of this paticular A4, but again comparing it to my Accord, at a full 10 years old, some 6 more at least than the A4 and even taking into consideration that I am a careful owner, it still doesn't add up as to why the interior was in such bad shape. As for the Passat, no long review to give, as I have never driven rather than sat in one. My impression of the Passat? Significantly less than glowing is the short answer. In a nutshell, if you are in the market for a handsome sporty car, with speed to marvel at, get the A4. If you want a better built car, look elsewhere, but in my humble opinion certainly not at the Passat. However in the Passat's defence, and for what its worth, both are essentially made by VW and in my experience tread carefully with their cars. Gorgeous to drive, (as was the case with the A4), but a pain to maintain. Well its back to my beloved Accord for me. Lucky you that you have such a mothwateringly difficult choice to make. Good luck to you whichever you eventually decide on. |
