CrimeScam Alert: Shortcode 7097 Deducting Airtime After Fake Job SMS by IbrainsCat(op):
Hello Nairalanders,

This is a warning about a scam involving the shortcode 7097.

I received an SMS saying:
“Need part-time job? Earn ₦80,000 daily. Text W to 7097.”

I tested it using my second SIM card. Immediately after texting "W", ₦30 was deducted from my airtime. The system then tried to auto-renew the deduction even after I clicked “one-time.”

This is suspicious and possibly illegal.

I’ve recorded the screen as proof and will report this to NCC.
