The Northern Leaders Consultative Forum has endorsed Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group comprises Christian and Muslim religious and political leaders in the north — including Yakubu Dogara, former speaker of the house of representatives.

The group endorsed Abubakar on Friday at a media conference in Abuja, following the adoption of a report by its technical criteria committee.

The report was presented by Simon Achuba, former deputy governor of Kogi state.

The group said after evaluation of all the presidential candidates, Abubakar is “the best”.

“It is evident that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is heading for implosion and extinction; hence, it cannot be the party for now and in the future, because of its rejection to embrace inclusiveness in a diverse country like Nigeria. After the 2023 elections, APC may be dead and buried as a political party,” the report reads.

“While the duo (NNPP and LP) may emerge as strong contenders in the political arena in the future, from all indications, PDP appears to be the best option to adopt and support.

“All it takes is to sustain and tackle some of the problems and challenges this country is facing.

“Certainly, with proper consultations and inclusive appointments, which is mindful of the federal character principle with a sincere consideration of diverse issues such as religious affiliation, geographical location, and ethnic identity, which many believe will enhance justice, fairness and equity, after a careful evaluation of all the issues highlighted above, we hereby recommend the adoption of the PDP to all lovers of democracy in Nigeria for the 2023 presidential election.”

The report was put to a voice vote by Dogara and was unanimously adopted by the members.

The group added that it will discuss its adoption of Abubakar with the PDP to get the “necessary assurance from the party (PDP) to run an all-inclusive government”.

The development comes days after Babachir Lawal, a former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), endorsed Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Members of a group of northern Christians in the APC led by Lawal had, however, distanced themselves from the LP emdorsement and said the former SGF spoke for himself.

Lawal and Dogara had supported Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, until the latter picked Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate

Atiku Abubakar By El-Ameen Ibrahim Kindly share this story:

The Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation said it sympathised with Nigerians over the constant fuel scarcity which had kept on making life very hard for Nigerians, saying its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, felt their pains.

The Atiku-Okowa campaign however assures Nigerians of a pragmatic way out to the returning challenges of supplying fuel to Nigerians, a product that the country should have in abundance.

The campaign disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday, adding that Atiku was prepared to wedge all leakages that had cheered mismanagement and inconsistent delivery of fuel to Nigerians.

Ologbondiyan stated, ‘’Our candidate has been consistent on the need to liberalise the oil and gas sector, by allowing private investors to engage actively in that sector while his administration will provide the enabling environment that will allow the business to thrive.

‘’Atiku is the only candidate with the political will to meet words with action and restore the required efficiency needed to make the oil and gas sector perform transparently and optimally.

ATIKU OUR NEXT PRESIDENT

On Day 48 of #WhyShouldIVoteAtiku, all you have to do is look at this cool photo of the President in waiting, Waziri Atiku Abubakar. Wouldn’t you want your President to be this suave? This is not a PDAPC President. This is not a man with fake statistics. This is Atiku!

Nobody is perfect. And we do not expect perfection from anybody. But at least we expect coherence from our leaders. Because if they are not coherent, we can’t understand them. And if we can’t understand them, we can’t follow them. PDPAPC, APV, Bulaba, and Niger Delta State, are examples of incoherence that leads to insurrection.

And a leader needs honesty in order to inspire harmony. But where you lie that you brought a company that employed 60% of Anambra people, or you played football with those you did not meet in school, or that Tinubu is sending out anti Igbo WhatsApp messages, you can’t inspire harmony.

With Atiku, Nigeria has a leader who is coherent and whose honesty inspires harmony.

This is one of the many reasons for which I invite you to vote Waziri Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Please join me for another reason to vote Atiku tomorrow, God sparing my life.

Ayu’s arrogance makes reconciliation difficult –Ortom’s ally
The need to give the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, adequate time to correct “a big anomaly” in the party before the February polls is the reason five aggrieved governors elected on the platform of the party are open to reconciliation, Saturday PUNCH can authoritatively reveal.

The governors, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia states are demanding the resignation of National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, on the grounds that the party cannot have a presidential candidate and its chairman from the same regional bloc.

Although they (aggrieved governors) have successfully inaugurated their respective campaign councils, the governors alongside their loyalists have been consistent in their stand that reconciliation is possible in the interest of the party if only the right thing is done.

The governors, this medium learnt, did not have personal axe to grind with Atiku and were said to be considering working with him if only Ayu would tender an unreserved apology to them given his failure to keep his promise that he would quit his post if a northerner emerged the PDP presidential candidate.

A source who works closely with one of the aggrieved governors told Saturday PUNCH that “the governors are aware of the implication of teaming up with a presidential candidate of another party. They are not blaming Atiku much even though they believe he could have done more.

“The problem is Ayu who made a promise but reneged on it. I think things would change if the man (the national chairman) can be diplomatic in his speeches. It takes nothing from him to just apologise to these governors for peace to reign,” he said.

Saturday PUNCH gathered that following the group’s declaration of readiness to embrace peace recently, Atiku called on his loyalists to reach out and negotiate with them in a bid to have them return to the fold of the campaign council.

Confirming this development, the Media Adviser to the former Vice President, Mr. Paul Ibe told our correspondent that the PDP presidential candidate had already activated a mediation team to work at brokering peace between the two parties.

He said, “When the aggrieved governors said they were open to reconciliation, we issued a statement in which His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, welcomed the idea and reiterated his commitment to mediation. As we speak, a lot of engagements are going on but we don’t want this to be a media thing.

“Talks are ongoing and we are very sure this crisis will be over and everyone, including the G-5, will come on board and join the campaign council before the February election.”

Atiku tells supporters in Kwara he’ll set aside $10b for employment of youths, women if elected

Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has said that if elected, his administration will set aside $10billion to create employment and boost small and medium scale enterprises to help employment drive for youths and women in the country.

The former Nigerian vice president also carpeted the ruling APC over the insecurity in the country, saying President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling party have failed Nigerians.

Atiku, citing Kwara State as an example, also bemoaned the state of infrastructure decay in the country, saying the state connects both south and north but bad roads have hindered its growth and development.

Atiku said this at the PDP’s presidential campaign rally in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Earlier, in his speech, Atiku’s running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, said he was happy with what he had seen in Kwara.

Okowa, while making reference to the recently ended ASUU strike, said: “The PDP is ready to create employment and won’t allow our children stay eight month without going to school.”

He further assured that the “PDP will win in all six geo-political zone of the country,” adding that the party “will work with the people and rebuild Nigeria.”

Chairman of the peoples Democratic Party, Iyiorcha Ayu, said: “The PDP is one big United family, we are on our way back to victory. PDP has come back to rescue Nigeria and put it back on development track to rescue all families.”
“Don’t allow anyone to deceive, we are hungrier than we were in 2015. Bring out your voters card, come out en masse and vote all PDP candidates, especially Atiku in the general election,” he said.
Ayu later presented the PDP’s flag to Shuaibu Yema, the governorship candidate of the party.
On his part, the former president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, asked the party’s supporters to vote massively for all candidates of the party in next year’s election, saying the people can trust him and the party’s leadership.

He said: “ I stood and fought for democracy, APC came and lied to you and now you knw the difference. It is time for Nigerians, starting from Kwara to kick out APC.

“When PDP was in power exchange rate was 200 naira to the dollar, and now it is 800 naira. We are all tired,” he told the crowd.

“Atiku loves Kwara since the days of my father, other candidates don’t love you, they merely want to exploit you,” Saraki told the crowd.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal in his remarks thanked the Kwara PDP for a warm welcome and urged the people to vote massively for Atiku in next year’s election

"We decided to hold this meeting here because we believe in working at the grassroots. Some people would believe that when they want to host their meetings, they move it to Abuja or Lagos. We brought it here to Sapele because we believe in touching the grassroots.

"The only man that can bring Nigerians together is the unifier, Atiku Abubakar. Nigeria is such a blessed country but unfortunately we are presently lacking a proactive leadership.

"We in the South South will give the Atiku/Okowa ticket 100 per cent support in 2023.

"Atiku Abubakar has come in 2023 to unite Nigerians," he said.

Also speaking, Regional Director South West of the foundation, Comrade Oludare said that the foundation started in 2016 and Ambassador Aliyu Abbas has been keeping it going.

POLITICS 2023: Atiku Will Win At First Ballot, Campaign Council Assures INEC

The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to bother with any preparation for a run off in the 2023 Presidential election assuring the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, would win at the first ballot.

The Spokesman, Kola Ologbodiyan of the party, said, “Our campaign organisation counsels INEC not to listen to diversionary narratives by apologists of the deflated All Progressives Congress (APC), who are ostensibly seeking ways to derail the election, having realized that their Party has been rejected.

The campaign organisation urged INEC to deploy its resources towards conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election that will be generally accepted by majority of Nigerians.

“Our campaign is confident that by every indices and data available, our Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will win the Presidential election of February 25, 2023 at the first run”, The statement added.

Ologbodiyon added,”The APC has seen defeat ahead as Nigerians are quickly reaching a consensus on the fact that the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is not electable”

The party image maker urged Nigerians to remain resolute in their determination to vote in their choice, Atiku Abubakar, and take every step necessary within the ambit of the law to protect their votes.

In a reaction, the Atiku Okowa Solidarity Movement, one of the Frontline support groups, has lent credence to the belief that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will surprise all pundits to clinch victory at the first ballot.

The National Coordinator, AOSM, Ambassador John Ojo, told Journalists that with the mobilisation of voters in all the 36 States of the federation and FCT, Abuja by the group, nothing short of victory would come the way of Atiku /Okowa ticket.

“The general acceptance of Atiku/Okowa ticket is overwhelming and intimating, so, there is no need for INEC to bother itself about a run off”, Ambassador Ojo remarked

The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation has expressed gratitude to Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-South geo-political zone for speaking with one voice in support of the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign, Kola Ologbondiyan, said this in a statement in Abuja, late on Wednesday.

He said the Campaign “Commends the South-South Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for pulling together in support of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ologbondiyan explained that the commendation is coming on the heels of the meeting of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Udom Emmanuel, their Delta State counterpart and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki held in Bayelsa to restate their unwavering support for the PDP Presidential residential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.“

The Campaign equally commended the governors for their readiness to work assiduously to ensure the delivery of the votes in the South-south geo-political zone to the PDP in the 2023 general elections.

“Our campaign also urges the South-South governors not to relent in bringing all their brother-governors on board irrespective of their political affiliations.“ Ologbondiyan added.
