PoliticsRe: Tinubu Government Budgets Another N7billion For Aso Villa Solar Grid by Ichbinade: 1:42pm On Jan 09
I don't have an idea how much it'll cost to have a solar power grid that can provide power for Aso Villa. I do hope there's proper oversight to ensure quality and no wastage or diversion of funds. If there's excess supply, it can be offloaded to the national grid.

SportsJurgen Klopp Blasts Expanded FIFA Club World Cup As “worst Idea Ever" by Ichbinade(op):
In a scathing critique, former Liverpool manager and current Red Bull head of global soccer Jurgen Klopp has labeled the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup as “the worst idea ever implemented in football,” citing major concerns over player welfare and fixture congestion.

The revamped tournament, which kicked off earlier this month in the United States and will conclude on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New York, now features 32 teams and 48 matches—a dramatic increase from its previous format of just seven clubs. The event is set to take place every four years, slotting into the summer break between major international competitions.

Klopp, known for his outspoken views on player workload, did not mince words, telling German newspaper Die Welt: “It’s a pointless competition. Whoever wins it will be the worst winner of all time because they’ll have played all summer and then gone straight back into the league. There are people who have never been involved in the day-to-day business of football and are now coming up with ideas." He further criticized the decision-making behind the tournament, arguing that those without practical experience in the sport are making choices that negatively impact athletes.

The German coach highlighted the relentless schedule elite players face, noting that last year featured both the Copa America and European Championship, this year is dominated by the Club World Cup, and next year will see the World Cup. “This schedule does not allow for any genuine recovery for the athletes, neither physically nor mentally,” Klopp stated. He drew a stark comparison, pointing out that NBA players enjoy a four-month off-season each year, while top footballers like Virgil van Dijk have barely had that much rest in their entire careers.

Klopp also warned of an impending injury crisis: “It’s too many games. I fear that next season we will see injuries like never before. If not, then they’ll come during or after the Club World Cup." His comments echo recent concerns from the global players’ union, FIFPRO, which has called for a minimum four-week off-season break for all players—a recommendation that seems increasingly at odds with the packed football calendar.

The financial incentives for participating in the tournament are significant, but Klopp stressed that these rewards are not distributed equally among all clubs and do little to address the underlying issues of player burnout and fatigue. “There is insane money for participating, but it’s also not for every club,” he said.

Since stepping down as Liverpool manager in 2024, Klopp has taken on a broader role overseeing football operations for Red Bull, which includes teams like RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg—the latter of which was eliminated in the group stage of this year’s Club World Cup. Despite his new responsibilities, Klopp has made it clear he has no intention of returning to coaching, stating, “I don’t want that anymore. I have a job now that fulfills and is intense."

Klopp’s remarks have sparked a wider debate among fans and pundits about the direction of modern football and the increasing demands placed on players. As the sport’s governing bodies continue to expand competitions, critics argue that the wellbeing of athletes is being sacrificed for the sake of commercial gain.

Honestly, some of this does make sense. It might explain why I can sleep all night and still feel tired during the day—or why I don’t feel sleepy at all, even after a long, active, and supposedly exhausting day.
EducationHarvard’s Magna Carta ‘copy’ Confirmed As One Of Seven Original 1300 Manuscripts by Ichbinade(op): 4:29pm On May 17, 2025
Recent research by British medieval historians has revealed that a document held by Harvard Law School, long believed to be a copy of the 1300 Magna Carta, is actually one of only seven known original manuscripts from that year. Purchased in 1946 for a modest sum, this parchment was reexamined using advanced imaging techniques and detailed textual analysis, confirming its authenticity. This discovery significantly enhances Harvard’s historical collection and underscores the enduring importance of the Magna Carta as a foundational legal document shaping constitutional law and individual rights worldwide. The find has sparked excitement among historians, legal scholars, and archivists, highlighting the value of revisiting and reanalyzing historical artifacts with modern technology.
