omotoda: I use the Duravolt 5kva wall mount for my pumping machine and so far, about 5 months now no issues and my light is very low.As low as 140v at times.
The most important thing is not to overload the stabilizer.I dedicated the 5kva to just pumping machine because of low voltage in my area.Once the input voltage is below 160v most stabilizers do not operate at their full power rating ,hence it is best to always factor in this. Thanks Baba. |

Obnoxious2001: Disconnect your load and restart the inverter.
If it works fine, it's your load.
If it doesn't, it's a problem on the board Thank you! Fortunately it was a fan that was just repaired that was causing the issue. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 8:33am On May 07, 2025 |
mctfopt: The first thing to do is this: 1) Remove the output wire (the wire from the inverter that powers your house).
2) Check if the short circuit is still present when you power up the inverter.
3) If yes, the inverter needs to be taken to a service center.
4) If no, there is a short circuit somewhere in your load.
5) If a short circuit is present, you can do the following yourself if you have a basic understanding of electrical wiring:
a) Turn off all loads, that is, turn off all sockets, bulbs, etc.
b) Check if there is any burnt-out light bulb still connected to a lamp holder. If yes, remove it, as it might be the source of the short circuit.
c) Check if any of the appliances (loads) are causing the short circuit by going around and turning on each one while you wait to see if the inverter will display a short circuit warning
If step (c) reveals the issue, you've found the culprit. Thanks so much bro,I noticed a recently fixed standing fan was the culprit. I was so relieved men😁 Thanks for taking your time to reply also. |

I don't know what that means, but I noticed recently that my appliances would sometimes shock me,off and on happening. |

Namzy: Actually means your batteries are significantly less than 100%. For me I'll initiate bulk charging again to get the batteries close to possible 100%. When my batteries are full, I'll usually see about 50 watts at float voltage of 27.6v from my battery monitor. So your charge controller when no load is connected should also be showing such watts at your float voltage level (I use 27.6v for tubular batteries). This is a crude method, but it's better than nothing. Thanks! |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 10:12am On Jun 27, 2024 |
Namzy: A battery can be 70% charged and charge controller will enter float especially those charge controllers that don't have automatic absorption time. So you can deplete your battery and the next day your default 2 hours absorption time won't even take the battery pass 70% before the charge controller enters float because the 2 hours of absorption has reached you should get a battery monitor with lead acid battery. Another crude method is when the charge controller is in float, switch off the inverter and check how many watts the charge controller uses to maintain the float voltage if it's above say 200w or more then you have a long way to go I really love this boss, but I'm a newbie and have some struggles with the last part of your writeup. The cc using 200w and above to maintain the float voltage actually means what? |

Compliant: When you say " buy it from someone" i want to assume its second hand
When did he buy it?
Does your friend have maintenance culture?
Are you sure the person did not know of the issue before selling?
Changing the electrolytes to resuscitate it , is 50-50 thing and since its cheaper to charge than buying new battery, i would suggest he try it first.
Just locate one good battery charger and give him go ahead Yes,second hand...he bought like a month ago. Thanks,so anybody that charges batteries can change electrolytes too? |

Please guys,my friend bought 2*220ah tubular batteries from someone but he's complaining that the batteries are weak already.
So will changing the electrolytes of the batteries resuscitate them? Or would it be a fruitless exercise?
And if it's adviceable, can I also get where to do it in Lagos, thanks. |

Xanderone: So I tried the Gen mode on the remote. Result is disappointing. Apparently the Gen mode button isn't supposed to work on this model. It appears this remote is universal for some models of LG ACs, so it's not every button on it thar works. I simply pressed the button and watched out for any changes in the power consumption, but nothing worthy of note happened.
I checked the manual and it seems everything that has to do with "energy saving" is optional for this unit that I got, except maybe the fact that the "inverter" model it is makes it to ramp up slowly.
So the jet mode ramps up to 1010w, cools the room from 31 degrees to 28 degrees in about 30 minutes and the the jet mode deactivates. By then, the consumption had dropped to 957 watts.
It's s currently down to 944w as I'm typing.
This has got to be my saddest gadget purchase in a very long time. The only thought filling my head right now is how many premium solar panels I could have secured with the almost 500k price tag on this useless AC purchase, and my spirit will be happy with me that my power generation increase is guaranteed for another 10 years. But I'm seeing the horizontal light on the AC body signifying that the "gen mode" is ON...So in your case, while the light came on,it didn't actually work? Cos that's exactly what I had on mine yesterday, immediately I pressed the gen mode on the remote, that horizontal light came on and my inverter was able to carry it well, although the cooling wasn't as chilly... How many hp is your unit?😁 |

icjunior: My 2500 smarten inverter couldn't properly power my 1hp inverter LG AC unit.
It would power on and the compressor would pick up,but within few minutes, the overload protection of the smarten inverter kicks in showing that I'm running at 104% of the inverter capacity.
What could be the problem please?
PS: The AC was the only appliance running on the smarten inverter as at then.
And the load % on the inverter was increasing gradually till it got to that 104%. So I got a remote and put the AC on gen mode, and even though it doesn't chill like the normal mode,my 2500 inverter was able to power it well with my fridge,TV and other loads. Inverter usage % was fluctuating between 51%-63% |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 9:35pm On May 17, 2024 |
Xanderone: Also this is all I read in the manual about the Gen mode. So it doesn't seem tk be something remotely connected with energy saving mode to me. It looks like something to do with drop in voltage associated with generator when many loads are placed on it.
So since I don't use Gen, but solar, I haven't even tried working with that "Gen mode" button yet As in I haven't pressed that button at all.
I have a tuya energy monitor/switch inline with the AC, so I'm able to monitor its consumption in-app. Mhmmm...I would suggest you use the gen mode and see the power consumption, now LG saying "gen mode" is another way of saying if you have limited supply of light which solar is.... depending on your set-up 😁. I had an issue where my 2.5kva inverter couldn't properly start my 1hp dual inverter AC...the only option I'm thinking of now is using the gen mode on the AC till I upgrade my solar setup. Would have tested this gen mode but I'm yet to replace my spoilt remote. Update me since you have your remote 😁 |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 7:16pm On May 17, 2024 |
Xanderone: Is LG dual inverter different from LG smart inverter? I got the latter and it seems that the consumption only drops to around 850w after working for about 5 hours after the room temp has reached like 25 degrees. The setpoint on the remote is the lowest (16 degrees). The ramp up consumption when it starts is around 1015w
I also read in the manual that some model has "energy saving" mode, but it seems I can't find that option in this model of mine.
I hope I havent gotten the wrong model for use on solar set up. Do you have the "gen mode" on your remote? |
