Is a 3480w pv array producing 2200watts at near peak/peak sunlight doing well?

No and yes!
Yield is at 63% thereabouts.

Yes,if they're not tier one panels.
No,if they're tier one panels.

can this beat jinko 550w in performance

I would say nah, their efficiency is almost the same and jinko is 11k costlier than what he put up there.

All my inverters are hybrid.

Even if we run away from hybrid inverters, in other aspects of our lives we may still be doing hybrids.

Only the very rich today still buy separate tuners, separate amplifiers, separate CD/DVD/Bluray decks, separate tape decks, separate LP record decks.

If you can afford buy 2 of the same inverter and keep one in cold storage for the day of doom if it ever comes

The market prefers hybrids (combos) and the manufacturers have listened

Yeah, the world is moved onto hybrid everything.
But then hybrid inverters are more expensive ain't they?

Although the HP of your AC wasn't stated, but if you can up your budget to 1.6m - 1.7m, you could get the following:

24v 3.6Kw SMS Sunmate Inverter 300k

24v 105Ah(2688w) LiFePO4 Battery 650k
Expected price according to Valto from previous response.

Jinko 435w * 4(1740w) 480k

Installation, Cables & Accessories 270k

Above are 1.7m

This SMS inverter is entering my eyes o, please is it a good brand? if it is, can I upgrade from my 2.5kva smarten inverter to this SMS and still run my powmr 60a mppt on the SMS inverter?

Thanks so much for your response, how has the Smarten inverter been serving you? Is it a good brand? Also, is it hybrid?

You mean that when you get home in the night, you are still able to put on your fridge for 3 hours?

I never knew 2.5kva inverter can take iron, I was advised not to use iron, dats good news for me.

Which brand of battery and solar panel are you using?

Chief🤣
Using iron is at users discretion o.
I only use it especially during the weekends when sunlight is up up,the iron is the old Philips and not beyond 900w, still it isn't advisable.

The smarten 2.5kva has been in use for 11months now,no stories and no,it is not a hybrid.
I can't assure you of it's durability since it's just a basic inverter, but so far it has been good.

I use jinko panels from fouani and I get excellent yields from them,I've gotten close to 98% yield.

I use powmr 60A mppt charger.

And yes I use 2hrs on my fridge at night also.
11am - 4pm during the day.
1am - 3am at night with just the standing fan.

The idea behind this is to have atleast 45% of battery at sunrise.

They don't, from reviews that I've heard.

If you know of any that really works, let me know.
Thank you.

I'd just increase the panels.

Good morning all. I want to get an inverter. I have a 32 inch smart TV
one standing fan of abt 75w
a 120w fridge
Washing machine of about 240w
Two laptops to charge

The fridge will only be on for maybe a few hours during the day to ensure that my foodstuff don't get spoilt. The washing machine will only be used once a week (mostly during the weekend). The TV will be used mostly maybe 2 hours in the evenings on weekdays and then maybe a bit more during the weekend

So, the main things that I will be using it very consistently for is keeping my laptop charged anytime of the day cus I use it to work a lot while also being able to keep my stuff in the fridge from spoiling

I want to get a 2.5kva hybrid inverter (looking at Mercury inverter which is 406k but I will also appreciate any advice on a very reliable brand that may be cheaper)

I was advised to get two tubular batteries of 220ah (which I have also seen from mercury, 360k but I will also appreciate any advice on a reliable cheaper option)

I initially wanted to get two 550w jinko panels from foauni for a start with a plan to upgrade to more panels but an installer told me that they will not be enough, that I need at least three panels. Pls, is this true?

Please, I will appreciate expert advice from as many persons as possible. Thanks

I think we almost have same appliances/mode of their usage.

The 2*550w panels are fine.
Cos I use 2*475w panels.
I also use a 2.5kva inverter (smarten)
And 2*220ah batteries.

Now what I'm not sure is if mercury is a good good brand.

I don't stay home, leave in the morning to return in the evening,so what I do is use a timer socket to put my inverter fridge(<150w) on during peak sunlight and when I'm back I almost have a full battery that would allow me use the fan and a little of TV before sleeping plus 3hrs more for the fridge.

I even iron in the morning, just a shirt anyways and my battery is always not below 23.8v - 24v every morning.

I don't iron everyday o.
I do it mostly on weekends,when there's sunlight ofcourse.🤣

700w to 900w is only available from 11 am to 3 PM.. that's only 4 hours. Only your AC will consume all the energy produced and nothing goes to batteries. also what happens during cloud cover, your Batteries will have to handle about 600W of load which is too much for longevity's sake.
For AC to run Add an extra 1KW to power the AC.

To run ACs with these small batteries, get a minimum 2600w in Panel.

Nice angle to this,thanks!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 2:50pm On Mar 13
Dam5reey:

You can start with a 24V system.
I already have a 60amps MPPT (Powmr).
How many watts of solar panels will take? 1600W
What KVA inverter will be fine for it? 3.5KW
How many ah of lithium battery? 200AH or 5KWH.

OR
A 48V System
I already have a 60amps MPPT (Powmr).
How many watts of solar panels will take? 3200W
What KVA inverter will be fine for it? 3.5KW to 5.5KW
How many ah of lithium battery? 100AH/5KWH to 200AH/10KWH

Above is the minimum, you can do as the budget permits you.

Will it be detrimental to my batteries (2*220ah tubular,2.5kva smarten,2*475w(produces 700-900w at peak sunlight)) to run a 1hp dual inverter AC on it during sunlight peak hours??

Boss, there is nothing to worry about, your set-up is perfect because you have enough PV and headroom for day usage.

Your batteries will charge adequately, forget about over-charging the batteries as the voltage goes up, charging current reduces, the batteries won't take much current from your PV. so your batteries wont swell. In bad weather condition you will be have 100% at sunset due to oversized array.

Go ahead and complete the installation. I have a similar set up for client.
Its even doing fine that I now have a new formula that its best to have enough Solar at least 1KW for 1 12V, 200AH Lead acid batteries.

I added Battery capacity meter for this client so he can see the SOC, he hardly goes below 50%.. and by 1PM he is at 100%.

1 Year plus running his Batteries did not overcharge, and batteries still have Full Capacity no loss.

What's a battery capacity metre please?

Didn't include COSTs because those are Location and Time dependent.
✓ 5kva Inverter
✓ 12v/200Ah Tubular battery Minimum 4pcs OR single 48v/5kWh LFP battery
✓ Battery rack - Capacity dependent on Number of Batteries.
✓ Solar panels (16pcs of 300watts) OR (12pcs of 400watts) OR (12pcs of 435watts) OR (10pcs of 500watts)
✓ Solar rails depending on Total number of Solar Panels
✓ Cable for solar and inverter connection - Dependent on distance.
✓ Breakers AC and DC.
✓ SDP AC and DC.
✓ 60Amps to 100Amps MPPT Solar charge controller.
✓ Other Solar Accessories

Didn't include COSTs because those are Location and Time dependent.

Hopefully, you didn't blindly decide on a 5KVA system. Most times, except you know what you doing OR willing to put in the required work, you need someOne in that field to do thing correctly.

Time dependent(Tinubu factor) 😁

There is a huge disparity in prices of jinko panels between Gennex and fouani.

Gennex is not aware?

475w on fouani is 144,900
465w on Gennex is 172,500

Those socket acts like our normal electrical sockets at home. Only difference is, it's got a timer where you set when you want it to ON and when you want it to OFF, and the interval.

Alternatively, why not use your charge Controller as a timer switch. and for heavy appliances, e go work wella if you understand how relay Switches work

I don't understand how relay switches work though, but been able to configure the timer socket now.

So what was the problem, and how did you solve it? So that others can learn.

Someone on here guided me to disconnect the PV wires and battery wires from the cc and reconnect again, and edit the level of battery charging on the cc(can't remember the exact settings).

That was what we did and everything is working fine now.

Probably your batteries are full, if not try put on the inverter to draw some watts and if the cc will draw some current from the panel.
Also, snap the battery voltage and current interface of the CC.

@icjunior

My batteries were very low during the time I made the initial post,soI had to use a generator to boost it for 3hrs.
And after the boosting, the cc kept functioning the way it did earlier.

Remove solar input and put it back

Then go to settings D4 select 00.

This is default settings for lead acid.

Then proceed to set the voltage of the battery D1 and D2 I think

Can I message you off of here please? Cos I am thinking the cc is faulty at this moment,my battery was very very low prior to that and when the cc wasn't charging it,I had to disconnect and use a generator to charge and when I plugged back into the cc,the case was still the same thing.
