Moving this story for the third time because of people misinterpreting it to mean me missing out in life or envying the other party hence defeating the purpose for which I created it in the first place which is for the younger ones to learn and understand their environments by observing the movement and behavior of people around them and know when to retract. Therefore, I'll keep posting and reposting to achieve my original purpose for this post.

As usual, I'm unburdening my heart of yet another life's experience that shook me and almost made me lose my sanity and relationship with some men of God due to church politics in marriage affairs . Hmmm... Let me quickly put this out there. I do not regret my actions and how everything went at the end of the day..

A quick throw back about this pastor from the very beginning.
Some time In 2007, we were attending a small parish then. One day a very tall, fair and young handsome pastor visited our Parish and was introduced by our parish pastor as a youth pastor who just finished his service then haven returned from Yankee. All the young girls were admiring the pastor Including me. I was like, how I wish this kind of person would come for me but then I waved it off and said even if he wants to go for any one he would go for those older sisters then cos me I was still very young. He left and I forgot about him.

I didn't get to see him again until I became a worker and started going for programs at our other parishes where he was and other places where we all go to minister. When i saw him again, he looked different. He no longer looked fresh like that time he just came from Yankee. Then I had already erased the thought of him from my head.

In 2014, when I met my last ex, we were assembled in my pastors office after workers prayers one day when she said with excitement, you! we are going to tie big gele this year for your wedding and everyone shouted yay!!!.. I was just looking at her confused because at first I didn't know it was me she was talking to. So I said me? She said yes you!... 😕. Immediately one sister rushed in and said who's that? And the pastor said don't worry. I wasn't excited because I didn't understand what was going on.

Another scenario that got me confused was what my former parish pastor did ( the one that introduced the youth pastor seven years ago). I went for a program in his Parish ( because he was no longer in my parish) and greeted him as usual, this man just frowned and walked past me. He didn't reply my greeting. I was worried but then I shrugged it off. I didn't know what was going on.


Now, take note of this two scenarios. Where the lady rushed in asking who they were cheering in the pastors office and my former pastor that stopped replying my greetings. Wil be making reference to them in the course of my narration and also explain how the female pastor hyping me got wind of the news that made her do what she did. Meanwhile all these happened around October, November.

December came and around December period, pastors are usually transferred. So the female pastor that was hyping me that they will tie my gele was transferred and another one ( Igbo man) who was like a father to me came in. One day he called me and asked if he can he give my number to someone? I thought it was for a job. I said who? He asked me if I've been praying for a life partner.. I said mmmm... He then said, somebody ask him to give him my number that should he go ahead? I said ok. Then I asked him, hope you're not the one recommending me o. He no. That the person came and told him he wants me. I said ok, are you sure it me because we are twins o.. he now said are you not sister so so so?... That he specifically told him the slim one in the choir. I said ok, give him the number.

That evening my phone rang and immediately I heard his American accent, I said haaaa... This guy! He said do you know who's speaking ? I said pastor so so. He laughed and we got talking. He said he would call again and hung up for that day.
Very early the next morning, his call woke me up. We talked again but the conversation was dry because he kept talking about Mandela. That was the year Mandela died. So he just kept talking about the death because as a pastor he was being careful about the things he was discussing with me. It was just boring and me I was like which one is Mandela story again? Wetin concern me and Mandela.?

I got to church and my pastor called me into his office and asked me how far? I told him I don't really fancy the guy. He tried convincing me that the guy is rich, he'll take car of me and all that. The wife came and told me, sister do you know what you're playing with? She now told me that many sisters have fought over this guy claiming they saw him in the dream but the pastor refused them to the point that some of the sisters left the church angrily. She said it was a big saga that year. I now told her what if I don't like him. She said I have to like him o. That some senior pastors even brought their own slots ( sister for him) but he turned them down. So I told her I would try and work on my feelings for him then I left. When I got home and was thinking through all my pastors wife told me about slots, it now occurred to me the pastor that stopped replying my greeting. ( The ones I highlighted earlier) was also recommending that sister that walked in and asked who they were cheering.

After they brought their slots and he refused. He went round to all the senior pastors and told them he has seen who he wants and mentioned my name, that was how the female pastor hyping me got to hear because she too was a senior pastor and my pastor at the time ( before she was transferred), so she was informed and aware of the new development. I think it was announced and discussed among them in a meeting because many of them knew about it and that was how that other male pastor got to know about it too and started giving me attitude. Chai the thing pained me ehn? I said in the house of God again? Not like I'm even into the pastor self. So the most Senior pastor among then now gave him the go ahead to meet my Parish pastor and start with the process.

We continued the courtship but it was the most boring courtship because as a pastor, you don't meet in secluded places alone. You only meet in church. You're not to be seen standing too close together. If he wants to give me anything, he'll go and drop it somewhere and tell me to go and pick it there.

One day we attended a program in that angry pastors parish. The youth pastor came and stood near me and was talking to me. This pastor was now passing and squeezed his face like someone who drank lemon. I greeted him, he ignored me. Yay! 😂 😂. I just laughed.

I wasnt feeling this pastor guy because the bond was not there due to our mode of meet up. meanwhile I was bonding seriously with my ex. That one that will carry me on his back and be running on the street and we'll be laughing like jackass. . I just felt no need wasting the pastors time and one day I texted him that I'm no longer interested in this whole thing that he should look for another sister. Though he too was acting stingy that Christmas period after giving him a list of what I needed, he kept posting me today, tomorrow and time for me to travel with the things was getting closer, Christmas was fast approaching and I didn't want Xmas to meet me in Lagos. I now said person wen I no even like self come dey bobo. It was my ex that went and borrowed that money and gave to me to travel. So I sent him the message. my ex was so happy about the news of breaking up with him when I told him after he gave me the money for my travel expenses.

One week after I texted him, news went round and all the youths came after me. Why did you call off the courtship? Bla bla bla.... Every day my ears dey full. They we're now saying they would follow me to go and see that person that made tell pastor off bla bla bla Until I started shunning them and blasting them back to keep off before then leave me o. I was so shocked how everyone got to know about it.

One month after we called it off we went for a program as usual. My twin just returned from a trip then. So we went together. Where we were sitted, the youth pastor came and sat in front of us. my twin now told me that she saw that pastor and his wife pushing that sister ( the ones I talked about earlier) to go and sit near the youth pastor, as she did, the pastor now came and sat in front of us. My twin was now saying this guy still likes you o. I just shunned her and went and stood outside. As I was still watching the drama, the pastors wife gave the lady eyes again saying go and sit near him. Immediately the lady went and sat beside the pastor, he stood up and came and stood beside me where I was standing at the corridor. he looked at me and greeted me. I answered for the second and went downstairs out of sight away from the annoying drama. I just shook my head at the both of them ( pastor and the wife. I made myself scarce for a while and stopped going for programs where he would be.

Las las sha, na the sister he later marry and they both relocated to America.

That was my first experience of church politics. Don't know if anyone has had a Similar experience or experienced church politics as a whole..
