Health / Herbal Treatment Of Stomach Ulcer by icotechshop: 4:34pm On Dec 08, 2017
WHAT IS A STOMACH ULCER?

Stomach ulcers, which are also known as gastric ulcers, are painful sores in the stomach lining.Stomach ulcers occur when the thick layer of mucus that protects your stomach from digestive juices is reduced. This allows the digestive acids to eat away at the tissues that line the stomach, causing an ulcer.
Stomach ulcers may be easily cured, but they can become severe without proper treatment.

SYMPTOMS OF STOMACH ULCERS
A number of symptoms are associated with stomach ulcers. The severity of the symptoms depends on the severity of the ulcer.
The most common symptom is a burning sensation or pain in the middle of your abdomen between your chest and belly button. Typically, the pain will be more intense when your stomach is empty, and it can last for a few minutes to several hours.
Other common signs and symptoms of ulcers include:
1)dull pain in the stomach
2)weight loss
3)not wanting to eat because of pain
4)nausea or vomiting
5)bloating
6)feeling easily full
7)burping or acid reflux
coolheartburn (burning sensation in the chest)
9)pain that may improve when you eat, drink, or take antacids
10)anemia (symptoms can include tiredness, shortness of breath, or paler skin)
11)dark, tarry stools
12)vomit that’s bloody or looks like coffee grounds.

MOST COMMON TYPES OF STOMACH ULCER
Peptic Ulcer
Any ulcer that is exposed to pepsin is referred to as peptic ulcers. Peptic ulcers are found in the lining of your stomach or duodenum. Pepsin is normally present along with hydrochloric acid in the stomach lining. There are many symptoms of peptic ulcers that are worth checking out.

Gastric Ulcer
When a peptic ulcer is in your stomach, it is called a gastric ulcer. The symptoms of gastric ulcers are morespecific than peptic ulcer symptoms.

Duodenal Ulcer
When a peptic ulcer is in your duodenum, it is called a duodenal ulcer. This type of peptic ulcer develops in the first part of the small intestine. Some of the symptoms of a duodenal ulcer are interestingly quite opposite to those of gastric ulcers. Duodenal ulcers are the most common ulcers found in the Western world.

WHAT CAUSES STOMACH ULCER?
The two main causes of ulcers of the stomach and small intestine are:
Helicobacter pylori bacteria

long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen

LESS COMMON CAUSES OF STOMACH ULCERS INCLUDE:
Excess stomach acidity (hyperacidity) - this can occur for a range of reasons, including genetics, smoking, stress, and some foods
Zollinger-Ellison - a disease that causes an excess of stomach acid to be produced (rare)

RISK FACTORS
1)Certain behaviors and factors increase the chances of developing a stomach ulcer; these include:
2)Frequent steroid usage.
3)Smoking.
4)Overproducing calcium - hypercalcemia.
5)Genetics.
6)Consuming alcohol frequently.
7)Age - they are more common in individuals over 50. People of any age can develop a stomach ulcer, but they are much less common in children. The risk in children is higher if their parents smoke.

WHAT ARE NSAID DRUGS?
A group of painkillers known as NSAIDs carry a risk of stomach ulcers. The two best-known NSAIDs are aspirin and ibuprofen.
The risk of ulcers increases if the drugs are taken in high doses, or regularly for a long time.
Stronger NSAIDs needed on prescription are riskier for stomach ulcers than those that can be bought over the counter.
People should always check labels and talk to a pharmacist or a doctor about any concerns with using painkillers. They may recommend an alternative such as acetaminophen.

TREATMENT IDEAS OF STOMACH ULCER
Give Up Orange Juice For A While:Doctors aren’t sure why, but oranges—along with tomatoes and possibly grapefruit—may trigger the release of pain-causing chemical messengers, or neurotransmitters, in those with ulcers. If you think one of these foods might be contributing to your ulcer, try eliminating it from your diet for a few weeks. Then slowly add it back in and see if you notice a difference.

Health / Hand Washing---why Its Important. by icotechshop: 12:41pm On Dec 05, 2017
BENEFITS OF PROPER HAND WASHING

Do you know that washing hands regularly prevents illnesses and the transmission of infections
to others collapses?Hand washing with soap removes germs from hands. This helps prevent infections because people frequently touch their eyes, nose and mouth without even realizing it..

When to wash your hands

You should wash your hands thoroughly:
after using the toilet or changing nappies
before,during and after preparing food
between handling raw and cooked or ready-to-eat food
before eating
after using a tissue or handkerchief
before and after attending to sick children or other family members.
after smoking
after handling rubbish or working in the garden
after handling animals
How to wash your hands properly

To wash hands properly:
Wet your hands with clean, running water, turn off the tap.
Apply soap and lather well for 20 seconds (or longer if the dirt is ingrained).
Rub hands together rapidly across all surfaces of your hands and wrists.
Don’t forget the backs of your hands, your wrists, between your fingers and under your fingernails.
If possible, remove rings and watches before you wash your hands, or ensure you move the rings to wash under them, as microorganisms can exist under them.
Rinse well under running water and make sure all traces of soap are removed.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them
It is best to use paper towels (or single-use cloth towel).
Dry under any rings, as they can be a source of future contamination if they remain moist.
Hot air driers can be used.
An idea at home: give each family member their own towel and wash the towels often.

Use running water

Use running water instead of a basin of standing water that could become contaminated through use. Warm water may be better than cold for handwashing as soap lathers (soaps up) better with warm water. However, cold water and soap are still suitable. Hot water can damage the skin’s natural oils. Over time, this can cause dermatitis.
Soap is important

Washing hands with soap and water will remove substantially more disease causing organisms than washing hands with water alone. For people who find that soap causes skin irritation, it is useful to note that soaps can have a different pH – they may be neutral, slightly alkaline or slightly acidic, and perfumes in soap may also cause irritation. Changing soap may help some people
Liquid soap is best

Generally, it is better to use liquid soap than bar soap, particularly at work. However, bar soap is better than no soap.
No advantage to using antibacterial soap

When following the handwashing steps outlined above, all soaps are equally effective at removing disease causing germs. Antibacterial soap is unnecessary and does not offer an advantage over regular soap.
Take care of your hands

Handwashing is only one part of hand hygiene. Looking after your skin generally is important, as your skin is your most effective barrier against infection. After your hands have been dried thoroughly, you can help to look after your hands if you:
Apply a water-based absorbent hand cream three to four times a day, or more frequently if your hands are constantly in water.
Use gloves to wash dishes to protect your hands.
Use gloves when gardening to prevent a build-up of ingrained soil or scratches.
Consult a doctor if a skin irritation develops or continues.

NYSC / Soldiers, Corps Members Clash At Kano NYSC Camp by icotechshop: 10:01am On Dec 04, 2017
HERE was confusion at the National Youth Service orientation camp in Karaye, Kano State, on Friday night, following a clash between a corps member and the camp commandant over alleged treatment of corps members by the officer and his men.
A source who prefered anonymity alleged that the corps members on camp were fed up with the excessive punishments from the commandant and his soldiers and decided to stage a mini protest, shouting “we no go gree. We are graduates”This is just as the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, assured 2,282 corps members posted to the state not to entertain any fear, but feel at home, saying all necessary measures have been taken to ensure safety of their lives and property.
According to the source, the commandant walked reportedly up to one of the corps members who shouted “we no go gree” and punched him. But the corps member retaliated by punching the commandant who fell to the ground which caused his men to rush to his aid.
However, the protest from the corps members intensified with demands that the commandant be decamped.
In a swift reaction, the state NYSC Coordinator, Ladan Baba, restored order to the camp but however granted the demands of corps members and approved the decamping of the camp commandant.
When contacted, the NYSC coordinator confirmed the clash, saying that the issue had been resolved amicably and normalcy has returned to the camp.
It is recalled that the state Commissioner of Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba, speaking on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, while welcoming new set of corps members said, “Let me use this occasion to reiterate that my administration is aware of the challenges that is faced by the NYSC in the state.
You have all left your homes to travel to another part of the country, where you may not have friends or family. However, I would like you to always remember that wherever you are in this country, you have friends and family, especially in Kano, you are at home.”
‘It is on this note that we give priority to the security of life and property of all and recently embarked on general renovation of the orientation camp which has fully resumed, additional boreholes drilled and payment of local allowances renewed upward’
We shall continue to ensure the smooth and effective execution of the operations relating to the NYSC in Kano State.
