Christianity EtcSix {6} Things That Block The Holy Spirit's Power by idaev1(op): 2:37pm On Nov 10, 2017
Here are some reasons why there might be a blockage: 1. Doubt or intellectual pride. In the 1960s a journalist named John Sherrill decided to write a book discrediting the phenomenon of speaking in tongues. But after he interviewed countless people about this experience, his doubts were shattered and he was baptized in the Holy Spirit himself. His book, They Speak With Other Tongues, became a Christian classic. Spiritual experiences cannot be figured out with the mind. To receive the Spirit's infilling you must let go of your intellectual arguments and display childlike faith (see Matt. 18:2-4). advertisement 2. Religious tradition. I knew an Episcopal priest who was filled with the Holy Spirit in the 1970s in New York City. He was excited about the new vitality he felt in his faith—and thrilled that his wife had experienced a physical healing. But when he shared his testimony with his bishop, he was told he was crazy! And the bishop referred him to a psychiatrist! Religious people who are locked into "the way we've always done it" find it hard to receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit. You must be willing to break free from tradition. 3. Fear of the supernatural. Some Christians grew up in denominations that taught against the infilling of the Holy Spirit. They were told that Pentecostals are all fanatics who go into trances, speak mindless gibberish and swing from chandeliers. Actually, the first disciples in the New Testament spoke in tongues and experienced miracles—yet their faith was not strange. It should be the norm! People who are afraid of God's supernatural power will struggle to receive it. 4. Unconfessed sin. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit can be "quenched" as well as "grieved" (1 Thess. 5:19; Eph. 4:30). Because He is so holy, our sinful habits and attitudes can cause Him to withdraw. This is why it's so important for us to walk in constant communion with God, and to be willing to repent quickly when we know we have sinned. Some people "stuff" their secret sins in the closets of their hearts. If you want to be filled with the Spirit, you must be willing to open those closets and invite the light of God's holiness into every dark corner of your life. 5. Emotional wounds. Like the young man I prayed for last weekend, some people are just too burdened with emotional baggage to be filled with the Spirit. Some have been abused, others weighted down by anxiety, others grieved or depressed. They need healing first. Like Lazarus on the day he was raised from the dead, they are bound by the grave clothes of the past, and they need to be unwrapped before they can experience God's full anointing (see John 11:44). Healing is often needed before a person can receive the blessing of Holy Spirit baptism. 6. An unyielded spirit. You cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit if you are full of yourself. Some people are too willful. They have not surrendered their plans, finances, relationships or time to God. They have their lives planned out and they don't want God interrupting their agendas. Yet God is looking to fill hearts that have been emptied and surrendered. Only the fully yielded can experience the fullness of His power. If you have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or if the flow of the Spirit has been blocked in your life, empty your heart today and prepare for your own personal Pentecost.
Christianity EtcAre You Born Again? by idaev1(op):
"Ye must be born again" (John 3:7)

WHAT DOES IT MEANS TO BE BORN AGAIN?

To be born again means you receive a heavenly birth. It
literally means "born from above". Good works like those
done by this man and woman cannot do it - not baptism,
not communion, not feeding the poor, etc.
"Marvel not that i said unto thee, ye must be born again."
Jesus said these words to a religious man. He needed this
birth. Jesus told him, "Except a man be born again he cannot
enter the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). A heavenly entrance
needs a heavenly birth.

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

People who are born again "were born, not of blood, nor of
the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John
1:13).

GOD MUST DO IT FOR YOU!

We are "born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God..." (1 Peter 1:23).
Corruptible simply means decayed or false. Man's ideas on
getting into heaven are corrupt. Only in God's word do we
find God's method on how to be born again. Here is what it
says.

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

God's Word says:

1) You are a sinner and have earned the wages for your
sin, which is death.
"The wages of sin is death..."

2) He has a gift for you. You do not earn gifts. Salvation is
"the gift of God."

3) Jesus Christ is the provider of this gift. It is "through Jesus Christ our Lord."

You can be and must be born again, but you must do it God's way.

GOD'S WAY

"Christ died for our sins...He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3,4)
Your sins demand a payment. You need a redeemer to purchase your salvation. Jesus paid your sin debt on Calvary's cross. That is why He can give you eternal life as a gift. He paid for it with His life. "As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name" (John 1:12).

You receive Jesus by faith. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).

PRAYER

Father i realise that i need to be born again. By faith, I receive
Jesus Christ, Your risen Son, as my Saviour. I ture away
from my sin and stop trusting my own works to get me to
heaven. I accept Jesus' shed blood as my sin payment and I
give my life to Jesus Christ. Amen
Christianity EtcAn Unspoken Bible by idaev1(op): 11:59am On Aug 29, 2017
His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans and no shoes. This was literally is wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant. Kind of esoteric and very, very bright. He became a Christian recently while attending college. Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative church. One day Bill decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt, and wild hair. The service has already started and So Bill starts down the aisle looking for a seat. The church is completely packed and he can't find a seat. By now people are really looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything. Bill gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit and, when he realizes there are no seats, he just squats down right on the carpet. (Although perfectly acceptable behavior at a college fellowship, trust me, this had never happened in this church before! By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick. About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, an Elder is slowly making his way toward Bill. Now the Elder is in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, and a three-piece suit. A godly man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and, as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying To themselves that you can't blame him for what he's going to do. How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor? It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy. The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane. All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The minister can't even preach the sermon until the Elder does what he has to do. And now they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor. With great difficulty he lowers himself and sits down next to Bill and worships with him so he won't be alone. Everyone chokes up with emotion. When the minister gains control, he says, "What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget. Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people will ever read."
Christianity EtcChoose Your Final Destiny by idaev1(op): 3:04pm On Jun 10, 2017
Today is the right time to decide your FINAL DESTINY: Life or Death, Heaven or Hell, Jesus Christ or the Devil. It's clear, either you belong to Jesus Christ or to the Devil. Either you do what is Right or you do what is Wrong. You choose your destiny: Eternal Life or the Lake of Fire. Think about it. Decide Now. Tomorrow may be too late. Jesus Christ died on the cross for every one of us (irrespective of religion background), for our sins, and He gave us the opportunity of salvation by His mercy.

Thousands may come in your life and thousands may go, but there is SOMEONE who left His Glory and came to the world Just For YOU
HE left His Kingdom Just for YOU
HE was born Lowly in a manger Just for YOU
HE was denied and Rejected by His people Just for YOU
HE was mocked and Ridiculed Just for YOU
He was beaten with scourge Just For YOU
He was made to bear your Cross Just For YOU
He was nailed on that very Cross Just for YOU
He worn a crown of thorns Just for YOU
He was spit upon Just For You
He was given a wine mixed with gall when thirsty Just For
YOU
He was Pierced with a spear on the cross Just For YOU
He endured and His deepened in agony Just For YOU
He paid the redemption Price Just For YOU
He gave away His life Just for You---and that’s JESUS!
He died to remove the curse of sin from man and the entire Universe. He did what He did for you and for me! He did what He did so that we might be able to come to an old-fashioned
altar, fall on our knees, confess and repent of our sins and receive Him into our lives as our Savior. He died to
open the door of salvation wide for you and for me. Just for YOU! That is why the King of Glory left Heaven, was born in Bethlehem, lived in poverty, died in shame and agony and arose in victory. He did it just for you! He did all that He did so that you might simply call on Him by faith and be saved by His grace. He did what He did just for you so that you might miss Hell and enter Heaven.
Jesus’s Death wasn’t just an act of LOVE, it defines LOVE.
His Substitutionary Death is the Ultimate example of what LOVE means.

EducationOur Time Is Now by idaev1(op): 4:32pm On Nov 21, 2016
Evething has got its own time and time has come when we as
youths are supposed to rise with one voice and speak out.
Not only for our benefit and our wishes but a voice that has been
kept in the darker corners of our hearts. Many have gone through
hell to get were they are now but few will open up and expose their past.
Child abuse, incest and difilement have been bottled up by many.
For that matter, many of these past abuses are always haunting
us now.
Every morning we look at our reflection in the mirrow. How long
should this go on? Time has come to bring back all the lost that blame themselves for anything that happened to them, come
back home and restart your base because life is short.
Christianity EtcJust As You Are by idaev1(op): 10:55am On Nov 21, 2016
HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO CHANGE SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF?
Have you thought that you might be happier if you had different colored eyes, or if you were a different height or weight? Perhaps you’ve wished that you had perfect eyesight, that you did not have diabetes, or that you
could walk without the aid of crutches or a wheelchair.
But did you know that you were created, just the way you are, by God? The Bible says that every person— including you—is “wonderfully made." God “formed” you and “intricately” created you (Psalm 139:13-15). It also says that each of us is like clay, and God is the potter (Isaiah 64 : 8 ). Have you ever seen a potter work
with clay? It can sometimes take hours of work, with the potter paying very close attention to each detail. Every inch of the clay is carefully formed, not a single part is missed, until the potter creates a masterpiece. Even
though potters take great care in their clay creations, God took even more care when he created you!
Did you also know that the Bible tells us that God is perfect (Matthew 5:48)? That means that he does not make mistakes! You were created by a loving and
perfect God, and he made you to be completely unique —you are not like anyone else in the world! God created you, he loves you, and you are special to him… make
no mistake!
Even though God is perfect, we are not. God knows everything about us. He knows the good things that we do and the bad things that we don’t want anyone to know about. The Bible says that we all have done bad things (sins) and that we all deserve to be punished for doing them (Romans 3:23, 6:23).
But you and I are so special to God that he sent his very own Son, Jesus, to die on the cross and take the punishment we deserve. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son [to die for our sins], that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Isn’t that great news?! Jesus opened up the way for you
to have a home in heaven (where one day, everything will be perfect)! But first, you must agree with God that you’ve sinned, and trust that Jesus forgave you when he was on the cross. Those who believe in Jesus like this become God’s very own children (John 1:12). He wants you to experience his love, be part of his family and to help you every day — it’s why he created you!

Christianity EtcWhere Will You Spend Eternity? by idaev1(op): 1:38pm On Nov 09, 2016
On a late-night television show a popular playwright was asked if making lots of money concerned him. The studio audience went dead silent when he answered, “No...what does concern me is the fear of dying.”
Most of us, like that studio audience, are too uncomfortable
with death to think clearly about our own eternal future. But the fact is that one day you and I will die. We can live in fear of the unknown or we can take a moment to consider what
the Bible says about eternity…it may be the most important
moment of your life. First, let me ask you a simple question that will help you face the issue:If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?
Most people, when asked that question, say something like…“I’ve led a pretty good life. I hope I’d go to Heaven.” But they’re not really sure. Why are they willing to risk their future on wishful thinking when the Bible tells how they can
know for sure where they will go after death? Perhaps because it’s so humbling to face the fact that we are sinners in need of salvation. The Bible says that all fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23 ). In our natural state none of us is pure enough to enter Heaven; we need God’s forgiveness before we can come before Him.
Entrance into Heaven is not based on what we have done, but on what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. The Bible says that “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth [remains] on him” (John 3:36).
That’s why God sent His Son to take the punishment for our sins, so that we won’t spend eternity in hell separated from Him. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 ). He willingly took our place, then he rose
from the dead three days later.
Now let me ask you the same question again:If you died
tonight, where would you spend eternity? Are you ready to
stand before God with Christ as your Savior or are you
willing to face Him in your sinfulness? The choice is yours.
If you choose God’s way, you can tell Him in words like
these: “Lord, I am turning from my own attempts to be
good enough. I accept Your offer of forgiveness and
salvation. Thank You that Christ died for me so my life can
change now and I can spend eternity with You.”
The person who truly believes that Christ is the only way to
God has this assurance from Christ Himself: “He that heareth
My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation but is
passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). I hope you’ll accept
His amazing offer!
