Politics / Re: Army Officers Who Sold Weapons To Militants by idonland(m): 11:38pm On Jan 18, 2008
The really sad part of this is that the honest ones in the military and oppressed and not promoted, they are tormented until they leave the military.
TV/Movies / Re: What Can Be Done To Improve Nigerian Movies? by idonland(m): 11:32pm On Jan 18, 2008
There is sooooo much that can be done to improve the movie industry in nigeria.

1. We as a people should stop accepting mediocre work(not just in movies but in all aspects of our lives)
2. Put time and effort int the movies.
3. More mentalling stimulating plots and themes
4. Better directing, editting, acting.
5. We need to get more professioinals in the industry, not just hand cameras to people and say press that button.
6. Commit to excellence
7. Hold open auditions and discover fresh talent

This list can go on and on
Religion / Re: Lovemaking After Traditional Wedding Only: Is This Fornication? by idonland(m): 10:00pm On Jan 18, 2008
Actually once you have had your traditional wedding you are married, like it or not, according to the laws of the land you are married and God respects the laws of the land. Read your bibles people. Once you marry whether it be traditional or court or church you are married so you can go ahead and do what you want to do.

So what then happens to the people who do not get married in church, are we saying that they are not married? If you have a church wedding, the pastor even says by the power invested in me by God and the state/country i now pronounce you man and wife. Thats is the marriage union cannot be conducted by just any pastor, the need to be recognized by the government as well as by God.

There are a lot of questions to ask yourself and her.

Ask yourself;
1. can i look beyond what she did
2. can i see myself with her forever
3. is she worth the work and pain

Ask her;
1. do you want to be with me
2. what made you go to someone else
3. do you love me

After going through these questions and getting answers then pray and ask God for guidance, i have been through the same thing and i know its hard. people go outside for different reasons, im pretty sure you will be surprised the response you will get from her as to why she did. Just be honest with yourself in whatever you do. Also its one thing to make a mistake its another to keep making the same mistake. If she keeps making the same mistake at some point you will have to let her go. Also if you just let it pass without making much of it she will feel like she can do it again and you will forgive her again so make sure that you let her know how you feel.

At the end of the day just be true to yourself if you can stay with her or not.

Hi Guys.I'm intending to study for My Masters degree in USA Fall Admission. Its actually MBA.Do i need to take TOEFL,GRE? How do i book appointment with the Us embassy? I hear its now done online.
Thanks

When you decide what schools you are applying to, the check their requirements, some schools require TOEFL while others don't, for an MBA you will most likely need to take GMAT. other than that the requirements are the same as for an undergraduate visa

I am currently in graduate school in the US and I also attended university here. The Visa process is easier than we make it on ourselves, the embassy is not out to torment us. If you have your documents together and know your information you will get the visa (also you need Gods will lol).

-The first thing you will need is your form I-20, you will receive this after you have accepted your admissions from the school, some schools have an acceptance fee (usually $35-$150). You should NOT i repeat NOTpay any part of your fees before you apply for your visa.

-You will also need to have proof of financial support, this should be in the form of a current bank statement, and in some instances you will need to show tax clearance.

-you might also need to have your SAT scores and if your English scores are not too good or your school requires it you might also need TOEFL.

-You should apply to more than one school, preferrably about 5-10. you should only apply to 4 year colleges, do not apply to junior colleges, community colleges or schools that are not accredited.

-You should know why you chose your course of study, and why you picked your specific school for that course.

-You should be confident in your responses and look the interviewer in the eyes, but do not over-confident, arrogant or cocky.

-If you have been out of school for a while you should also be able to describe what you have been doing since you were last enrolled in school, in some cases they may require proof.

-you should be well rested before you go to the embassy as it will help you stay relaxed and focused.

-Lastly you should have something that ties you to Nigeria, you should have something that tells them you want to come back home, be it your strong family ties, or family business that you plan to use your degree for. Just have something that will let your interviewer know that you are coming back home after you graduate.

I hope this all helps. Also if you are on scholarship you will still need money to cover your living expenses such as clothes, hygiene, and such things so you will still need a bank statement showing sufficient funds to cover the living expenses shown on your form I-20 and still have funds left over for the owner of the bank statement to survive comfortably.

best of luck and Gods grace.

Travel / Re: Mind-boggling Nigerianphobia Tales in South Africa, Bellview Airlines intervenes by idonland(m): 10:25pm On Jan 16, 2008
It is funny how living in America we get the same thing here, anyone that is guilty of fraud is automatically Nigerian, yes we did not help ourselves by promoting 419 and just watching it spread through our cyber cafes, its so bad now that people from other countries have started sending the fraudulent emails and they claim to be Nigerians. We as a people need to take a stand against the many yahoozees out there. If we took a stand and enforced some kind of serious penaly for cyber cafe owners who do not monitor what the touts they serve are doing then the situation would get better.

I was in lagos in august and i went to about 10 cyber cafes between yaba and VI, and in all but 2 of the there were alot of guys actively sending out fraudulent emails trying to scam people. it was so bad that they didnt even hide it, whenever they would get a response they would all gather around that one computer and suggest the things that the guys should say. if only the police or someone would do 2 weeks worth of raids we would be alot better off.

With all that said, we are not that bad a nation, we should still be proud to be from Nigeria, and we should let that pride govern our lives, if you have a benz that you love you will not use it to carry spoilt fish because it will leave a bad smell in it. thats the same way that we should view our nigerian image.
