Anyway wetin consign me... If na me, as long na Chinese version i dey hold. No Google services, bootloader locked, no multiple languages, no regions, update na Chinese version, installed version, same Chinese, obob, i update straight away. Even wen raj fixed my phone, he to me to go from shop rom u still have to go to chinese rom fes... And the update is chinese rom... Anyways.. E no consign me.

All this long talk, he should just request to unlock bootloader, then when he gets permission, use any rom whether na China or Global rom that is available to fasboot flash it using miFlash tool. That is the guaranteed way to banish shop rom. Entering brickland cuz of unforeseen guess work is not a funny business o

I think we're the ones doing guess work. Cus the guy got Chinese version. Unless there's shop rom of Chinese version. The installed version is cn, the update version cn also... undecided

Remember you guys are using different phones.... I have never seen a redmi 5 get bricked after OTA. But for Redmi 6 pro, well I have seen more than enough bricking over time

Ordered mine from ali, came with shop rom... I couldn't update, (eh ehn dat reminds me... I think i know a way to identify shop rom...) Back to my story, i couldn't even receive ota... That is wan faint. Do necessary research, download necessary global stable rom... Flash... Boom.. Welcome ro brickland. I wan mental...at the end, raj flashed Chinese rom... Enjoying it ever since.
To me as long as his fone didn't come with play store installed, bootloader locked, no multi language, no multiple regions,.. It can't be shop rom,.. In other words original Chinese version..

Not they can, they do. That's the need of the shop rom. To. Install multiple languages and Google services. To make it look like global rom. Otherwise there's no need for shop rom. Unless ur telling me there's a shop rom for Chinese rom again. I don't know wat dey want to alter again. undecided

The installed OS version of MIUI is still the same with the update version.

I think ur rom is original. If it came without Google play store. I strongly believe it's original.

If your baseband version starts with anything .TA then you are holding a shop ROM variant

Please i need your opinions o. Which do you think is the better buy between Redmi 6A and lenovo k5 play? Considering that the former is an MTK device while the latter is a snapdragon device.

I didn't say you're a newbie o, I just gave an example of a common mistake many newbies make where they don't investigate a Xiaomi phone's global availability before purchasing. You also didn't answer my question, don't you honestly think the UI differences between MIUI apps n Google play store apps are annoying? Anyways as I have said before, Android One is mid-range android as Google intended after starting their Pixel line n the Mi A series is the best of both worlds (Google plus Xiaomi combo) mid-range series IMHO

To be honest, i don't even give a f about different ui in apps. Wetin consign, so long as e work and does wat it's supposed to do. undecided

How to identify the official stable ROM
1. It must have seven MIUI version letters
e.g NDACNFI
Anything more or less is an unofficial ROM from Xiaomi

2. The fourth and fifth letters must indicate the ROM
CN = China
MI = Global

3. It must not indicate more than four numbers for the miui version
E.g 10.1.1.0
Anything more than this indicate an unofficial ROM. E.g MIUI 10.1.1.0.96

4. Also, if the release number is high. It can also indicate an unofficial ROM.
E.g MIUI 10.1.1.96

5. Baseband version can indicate the status of the ROM. Those stating with TA are unofficial ROM.

However, baseband version can be confusing. Mine starts with MPSS.TA. numbers numbers numbers and I have been receiving updates via OTA and nothing has happened to my device. I am currently on MIUI 10.1.1.0

This is my own research. The house can agree with me or correct me where necessary especially the number 5 point. Thanks.

The number 5 TA lvl is no longer a sure bet. Maybe it used to be before...
