Mizzhelen:
Hi guys, please help my life.
I will be landing in March as PR, I won’t have my SIN until then and I want to apply to some BS Nursing programs for fall intake. I was able to apply to one university on OUAC as international student before the Jan 15 deadline because nursing is competitive (I couldn’t apply as PR because SIN is mandatory before payment on OUAC). However, I’m not very sure of my chances of getting in, so I would like to apply to some colleges on OCAS as a PR (SIN was wasn’t required before payment) and February 1 is the deadline for most complétive programs.

On OCAS, I was to select 5 schools on the portal for citizens/PR as against 1 on international portal where most nursing courses aren’t available. I want to make the application fee payment now but I’m not sure if SIN will be required at any point after making payment, I don’t want to waste my money.
Please can anyone who have an experience with applying on OCAS as PR confirm if I will be asked for SIN after payment or when sending in my transcript 🙏 thank you

Apologies for the long epistle
Good morning, base on my little Knowledge, you can easily be addmit into License practical Nurse diploma in any College in Canada, because their requirements are not much.

Any or combination of these will suffice. The more the better.
1) Family (loved ones) with pics and evidence of relationship and how you impact their life e.g medical bills for your mum etc
2) Shares
3) Land or real properties with evaluation
4. Ongoing Program in University e.g NOUN
5. Existing Business that is profitableto you (you will need all the biz owner doc and tax)
6. Belonging to a group in church, volunteer group
7. Pension statement
8. Proof of Job you are returning to after your temporal stay in Caanda. Remember it is a temporal work permit you have and you need to have plan to come back except you are able to secure PR in the process.
Thank you so much for your explanation.God bless you sir

If she has a job offer with full job description, has pay slips, can print bank statement, works full time (at least 30 hrs a week) with a valid work permit, you are entitled to a spouse open work permit (sowp).

All foreign worker in Canada hold temporal permit so you will need home ties in terms of jobs, church position, business, family members, land/shares investment etc in Nigeria to show that after the duration of your work via sowp, you will not have any issues to return home because you have investments. THIS IS VERY CRITICAL TO GETTING APPROVED!

You will also need small PoF (you can check the PoF amount on IRCC website for living expenses) based on the year you re applying for...for instance if she holds a one, two or three year work permit...have something reasonable that if in those years ..in case you dont have a job, that money will sustain you. The PoF should only be for you and your wife can also show it...it doesnt mean it must come from you. But if that is the case, she will also get an immigration letter to state that.

I really dont blame the West for ensuing these process, that's how they ensure responsible society for all to live well but here in Nigeria, we born anyhow, give all our money to church and other things and now say God go provide on zero level. In the West, your bank statement must provide 1st before you talk about God.
Thanks for your response. She will be traveling with the kids,so how else can I show home ties in terms of Family?

Yours is not a problem. You should have no difficult getting an open work permit. Your wife is coming as a worker so, you have nothing to be worried about. I am surprised you are not processing your permit together.
Thanks for your response.we agreed for her to go first and settle, then I will join her later, because of some reasons.

Yes, to a large extent but applied differently. MMF calculates simple interest on your current balance (capital) and prorate to daily and it accrues then at the end of each quarter it's either reinvested/paid to your bank account depending on your option during registration.

Chat me up if you need more clarity on mutal funds generally.
pls can i have your phone or WhatsApp number to reachout to you for more clarification?

Compounding is automatic once u pick the option to reinvest your interest.

You can decide to top up the capital in your MMF at anytime you have money to invest from 5k and above. Interest always accrues on the available balance - capital at anytime.
Good afternoon, pls what is the minimum amount to start with?, and can I use my name and that of my fiance to invest?,so that both of us will own it together.pls reply

I think it's more complicated and I think you can learn from my mistake. I had more than this amount when Naira was more valuable and it was refused.

Factor to look at:

1) Have you used the same account to do PoF before? If yes, the VO will consider the amount remaining to be spent for the student already in Canada and deduct it from this amount 1st to know how much is available for the couple that is joining the principal applicant that is a student. You are only free from this if you used a different account for the principal applicant (student) when they are applying.

2) How long is the principal applicant visa. In my own case, we just got an approval extension from a year to 2 yrs course so the financial requirement for PoF technically also should rise.

Pls consider these two factors when putting up PoF for SOWP else those guys will be waiting to screw you up.

So the more fund you can show from both sides that takes care of both bills, the better.
Good morning sir,my Wife got job as a Registered Nurse in Canada, though about to start process her visa application and she live outside Canada, but i planned to join her later after she might have settle.Pls what type of permit will I apply if i want to join her later ?,and Do i need prove of Fund when applying for the particular permit ?, and how much should I have in my account before I apply.Thanks.

While the guy ranting might seems loud, he's not very far from the truth. Student visa shouldn't be a problem in the first place if everyone is following the rule (especially the POF). I can tell for a fact that 90% of Nigerians never had real proof of fund. We are so unbelievably over-confident and think we can scale through anything.

While it's possible for some people to be lucky, I mean, getting job not so long after migrating and being able to sort accommodation and feeding. (I didn't include paying tuition because, that's totally almost impossible with a part time job).

While some might be lucky to pay for accommodation and feed, it's certain that majority won't. Majority will wait till five to even a year before they can land a job. This is the reality.

Hoping to fall among the very few minority that may be lucky is an outright stupidity when it comes to planning for even anything in life. It may not be you. It can't be you. In fact, it won't be you. Stop the self-deceit blinded by your religious belief. Drop that hope and plan well. The risk involved isn't about just losing a game. You will lose your millions, your time and return back home.

The worst part is, PR pathway isn't even certain for students any longer. it's getting dimmer, and the current government is looking for every means to pacify the raging citizens. He's losing for sure and he knows that.

If you're coming as an international student which is even a risky investment right now. At least, have a means to survive for a year without job after paying the full tuition. This is just the honest fact. Also, it's better to come for a master program than all these colleges. That's if anyone wants to take the chance.

I would also like to rant my opinion about the canadian government intentional blind eye to fake asylum seekers. I mean, this is the most obvious scam of the century. Everyone in the country knows that 90% of the asylum seekers are fake.

This pathway is scamming the government than anything else. To me, it would have been better if the govt venture their frustration towards them than the international students who mostly at least, have one or two to contribute to the society. At least they are educated and vibrant to some extent. It's sad to see that most international students are very educated and even have masters degree and relevant work experiences that could benefit the country.

The asylum program which the majority is fake is consuming so much from the country and adding very little significance back to the system. From monthly upkeep, to free housing for probably one or two years, and huge pressure on the healthcare system. At least, the students are bringing funds to the country and are not taking advantage of the free social benefits.

I'm also a student and I'm not being selfish. I'm just stating the pure fact, and everyone living in the country understands this.

It's very sad to say, most people who came through visiting visa and instantly claimed asylum, got their claims granted. It's just very unfortunate that such great loophole exists in the system.

People coming through study visa should think twice. The worse of it are even the docile and non-vibrant minded students. There's a shocking incident about a female student who applied to a non-pgwp college. According to her, she didn't realize because her agent didn't inform her. She attended the school for a year in complete and pure sufferness. She had to sleep outside at subway stations and even outside sometimes. This isn't a life anyone should be living just because of japa.

The most unfortunate part is, she is about applying for a second course in the same non-pgwp school again because, she couldn't complete the second semester tuition for the first program untill after the study. Apparently, she had no time and money to process the second program untill after first program when she worked for like 3 months. Because of so many reason, she had no choice than to apply to the same school again meaning, she will get no pgwp for 2 years study.

I'm sure she was one of the people who will be saying, let me enter first. The reality is, you can never beat a system, no matter how intelligent you are.

I'm also an international student who came with my spouse who's on sowp. We both had our first part time and full time job 3 and 4 months after, respectively. We could survive because we've paid our full tuition and can easily live on our both earnings which is more than enough for us. Unfortunately, they've stopped issuing spousal open work permit. This could have been a leverage to survival for married ones.

While I'm not saying it's not possible to survive as an international student, I'm only emphasising that the majority will be on the other ugly side of the flip. Just like gambling, anything that has a high chance of losing isn't worth it.
Good morning,do you really mean that, they have stopped giving Spousal Open Work Permit?.Then, pls how will I join my Wife in Canada, whom just got Job offer as a Nurse and she will soon move to Canada, but will like to join her later.Pls what type of Permit should I apply to join her later?.Pls I hope to hear from you soon.Thanks.

Seriously I don't pity people like this. I find it difficult to pity students to some degree. If you falsify your proof of fund and you are here complaining of no jobs, you are on your own. The era of people coming to Canada to study with the hope of paying tuition from working is very new. Before you have three categories of people, graduate students with full/partial funding, graduate students with money from Nigeria to fully cover their expenses, and children of rich parents coming for undergrad. Those were not relying on working here to fund their education.

However, if someone that comes as a PR complains about the system, I can encourage the person and give them suggestions on how to advance their careers. Some time you may have to change career and be very open minded. I have seen a lawyer that decided to go for nursing immediately have landing as an immigrant. After becoming an LPN, he started working on what is needed to be called to bar. He is a lawyer now. The LPN provided fund for him to meet bills before being called to bar. For a new immigrant, it is a long process. Be open minded and don't limit yourself.

Again a student complaining of no fund to pay tuition was not prepared to be a student. It is impossible to work to pay tuition and living expenses.
Good evening sir, please how many years will it take someone to become a LPN in Canada?

[quote author=imustsaymymindo post=132989644]Sorry for the late response. In my opinion, you can do both together.

Just start your PR process as early as possible. For instance, try maxing out your IELTS and enrolling in a French school before your study permit is out. Do Babbel and Duolingo too. You can watch French movies and French songs+lyrics, and use AI apps like Google Live Translate to practice speaking and listening to actual people and yourself speaking French.

You can go for the MBA alone if the permit gets approved to know the terrain and whether Canada is even a place you want to be while your family holds the business down in Nigeria if possible. Then when you get ITA, you can bring the rest of your family along. Do you have a spouse with an in-demand occupation too?[Good afternoon sir,pls I want to ask,if a Nurse from Nigeria got Job offer in Canada, what type of permit can she come with?PR ?

Intellectual scam? Will you like to go back to where we all came from?
I don't think k any of us were promised automatic jobs.
We are all from a 3rd world country, not everyone will be lucky to come and start at same professional level he or she was at in Nigeria, in Canada a 1st world country.
Most people will have to start afresh, or start at a lower level, or even go back to sch.
No one lured us, we all searched for better environment and found Canada.
There are success stories all around. My frnd was a bug guy in Halliburton years ago in Nigeria when he left and started as a security man because you cannot practice engineering without licence here. After his licensing he got 180k role and after two he realized 180k is too small for him. Today he drives truck and owns two trucks and decides how much taxes he pays as a business owner. Will u say the country has scammed him?
If we are complaining, what should Doctors do? After years of study and they have to write exams for three years? Nurses have to write exam as well?

There is a reason they say they want highly educated people, people who will come face the challenge and intellectually carve a way for themselves and survive. Not because there are jobs on the street waiting for us from Nigeria.
Good evening sir,Am 43 by age and a business man here in Nigeria.I only have SSCE Certificate, pls can I go into Nursing in Canada without science background?

Tech is broad. And it’s super saturated now. But what area of tech and how many years of experience in it do you have?
Do you have a strong digital footprint that reflects your tech experience and skill set, besides submitted resumes? Are you getting interviews or you are not even getting any interviews at all?

If you came on study permit, your hours to work are limited. It doesn’t have to be tech but yea, you know best. It is a very competitive market out here and there are techniques besides just sending resume.
Good evening sir,pls advise me.Am 43 yrs old with SSCE Certificate and am a Business man here in Nigeria.Meanwhile,I don't have Chemistry and Physics in my O' Level result. Can i go into Nursing schl at Canada without science background?.
