Jonathan my Hero |
Farewell president Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan. To everything there is time Thank you for availing yourself. Thank you for showing us the step. Thank you for changing the course. Thank you for carrying the cross. You bear the pain. You accepted the blame. You were faulted in all. You were mocked. You were insulted. You were hated You were dishonored. You were disregarded. You were riddiculled. You were reduced to nothing. Yet you absorbed all. What kind of man? Nigerians were horrified running, waiting for the fate of the nation in 2015 election. Africa was on the watch perhaps to create a refugee camp. The world was waiting perhaps to send peacekeepers. Then you made that call, one call that changed the whole scene. Those that supported you looked like dreamers. Those that were against you pondered a long time in their heart. What kind of man? I never thought it could happen, I never thought. You dignified Nigerians before Africa and the world. You changed the story of the nation. You sacrificed all, all, your dignity, your immunity, your honor, your respect, your title, your power, just to save this nation from drowning, and you saved her. TODAY,as you bow out,we pray the peace you left behind will follow Nigeria,I can see your footprint on African political soil,Wherever Nelson Mandela is mentioned,GEJ will be mentioned,I promise to tell my children and anyone who cares to know, about you,In this last minute I say to you sir 'farewell' farewell, farewell. I salute you. |

Qualification This opening is not limited to any specific field of study but only OAU students with second class upper degree and above will be considered this time. |
NIGERIAN YOUTHS WHEN IS YOUR FUTURE ? "First, everybody has a choice, but for me, Jonathan is my choice. For goodness sake, Buhari has ruled us before. He was the governor of North Eastern State (presently Yobe and Borno). He was also the minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources when he was 32. He was also chairman of NNPC at 36, and at 41, he became the head of state. If Buhari could achieve all these between the age of 32 and 40,what then is the fate of the younger generation if he's still wanting to be president at 72 ? If you're between 30 and 50 clamoring for a 72 year old president who himself first became a Head Of States at 41 then, you're selling out our generation. No matter the challenges our nation is facing at the moment,we can only overcome when we put our heads together, apply all synergy and vibrance of our youthfulness in supporting the government and criticizing it constructively when the need arises. We can only move forward and NOT backward ! |
slimfit1:pls i talk with facts, please if you think you know what GBJ do not want us to know you better say it or forever remain silent. |

Over the past few months, the APC have tried to paint Buhari as the candidate of change. They have tried to hide his abysmal record in office and their only hope is that voters won’t look too closely at their flagbearer. Don’t let that happen. Forward this email now to 5 friends and talk to your friends and family who aren’t active online. Make sure they know who Buhari really is. We can’t go back to the old ways! We must keep Nigeria moving forward. 10 Things Buhari and the APC don’t want you to know: 1. He overthrew democracy Buhari claims to respect democracy, however in 1983 he overthrew the civilian government and put in place his own harsh, military regime. 2. He indiscriminately arrested and detained opponents and tortured and executed prisoners Buhari's brutal crackdown began with Decree No. 2 of 1984, which allowed Buhari's chief of staff to arrest and detain anyone indefinitely without trial. When Buhari was overthrown in 1985, the Inspector-General of the Police opened the prison doors on national television, revealing people, many of them torture victims, in various stages of malnutrition. Buhari used retroactive laws to impose death sentences and expelled hundreds of thousands of foreigners who had migrated to Nigeria. 3. He ended press freedom and arrested journalists and artists After seizing power, Buhari announced a decree that made the publication of “critical articles” a crime. He used the decree to jail many journalists, including Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabo. He didn’t stop with journalists, also jailing prominent artists such as Fela Kuti. 4. He failed to fight corruption, despite brutal tactics Buhari claims to be an anti-corruption crusader. However, as head of state he failed to curb corruption in the country. He implemented a “war against indiscipline,” which was carried to “sadistic levels, glorying in the humiliation of a people,” wrote the Nobel laureate and writer Wole Soyinka. Buhari forced civil servants, even older ones, to perform frog jumps if they were late for work, and ordered the “notoriously unruly Nigerians” to form neat queues at bus stops, under the sharp eyes of whip-wielding soldiers. Despite his brutal tactics, corruption was not curbed under his rule. 5. He destroyed Nigeria’s economy In the name of curbing imports and fighting corruption, Buhari implemented policies that led to countless job losses and the closure of businesses. He ordered that the currency be replaced, forcing all holders of old notes to exchange them at banks within a limited period. Prices rose and living standards fell sharply. 6. Billions went missing under his watch When Buhari served as chairman of the notoriously corrupt Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) under Olusegun Obasanjo, $2.8 billion in oil revenue went missing under his watch. When the Federal Government attempted to investigate his complicity, the principal witness who was set to release evidence to implicate Buhari died in mysterious circumstances. 7. His record was so poor that he was removed from power After just 20 months of brutal rule, driven by a sharp fall in living standards and criticisms over human rights abuses, Buhari was removed from power in a coup led by General Ibrahim Babangida. 8. He would rather divide Nigerians by region and religion than unite them During Buhari’s rule, he was unapologetically northern. He made no attempt to balance his government, which was the only regime in Nigeria’s history headed by two Northerners. He declared that Muslims should vote only for Muslims and became an advocate for implementation of Sharia all over Nigeria. 9. He incited violence following his failure to win the 2011 election Buhari's inflammatory statements following his loss in the 2011 presidential elections incited widespread violence in the North. His supporters went on a rampage, looting and killing, despite an international consensus that the elections were judged the most free and fair in Nigeria's history. All told, over 800 people were killed and some 65,000 displaced during the post-election violence. Buhari later told loyalists, “If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood”. 10. A petition has been filed against him in the International Criminal Court (ICC) In December 2014 a petition was filed with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, calling for the prosecution of General Muhammadu Buhari for inciting violence following the 2011 elections. The ICC has been looking into possible war crimes in Nigeria since 2010. The criminal acts alleged in that complaint include murder, torture, rape, and the burning of people. Among the allegations: On April 16, 2011, during one of Buhari’s campaign rallies he called upon supporters and loyalists “to destroy, kill and maim men, women, and children” who were opposed to his candidature. We can’t afford to go back to the old ways under another Buhari regime. Keep Nigeria moving forward by voting for Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP on February 14! Sincerely, The Forward Nigeria Team |

Over his four years in office, President Goodluck Jonathan has transformed Nigeria from a sleeping giant into a nation that has become the largest economy in Africa and one of the economic giants of the world. His reforms have touched all sectors of Nigeria’s economy, from agriculture, to manufacturing, to ICT. He has diversified the economy, lessened Nigeria’s dependence on oil and increased employment opportunities. He has also strengthened Nigeria’s educational sector, providing the next generation with the skills and training they need to thrive. President Jonathan has created millions of jobs in the last 4 years. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 1.6 million jobs were created in 2013 alone. Below are just 10 of the many reforms instituted by President Jonathan that are helping to move Nigeria’s economy forward: 1. Boosting the Agricultural Sector: When President Jonathan came into office, Nigeria’s agricultural sector was in desperate need of reform. With a sure and steady hand, President Jonathan revolutionized the sector. His efforts have focused on ensuring food security, reducing expenditure of foreign exchange on food imports, diversifying the economy, generating foreign trade and creating jobs. Through the introduction of the e-wallet system, he put an end to the corruption that was once rife in the agricultural sector. 2. Reviving the Automotive Industry: President Jonathan has also put in place an automotive policy, which has attracted significant foreign investment and created jobs. The Director-General of the National Automotive Council (NAC) recently estimated that the automotive industry now has the potential to generate over 200,000 jobs. 3. Supporting Domestic Cement Production: President Jonathan has introduced a cement policy geared at increasing production capacity and quality of cement produced in Nigeria. Already, $1.2 billion has been saved in foreign exchange demand through sufficiency in domestic cement production. 4. Establishing the Sovereign Wealth Fund: The sovereign wealth fund has been established under President Jonathan’s administration with $1 billion invested to save for future generations and also fund infrastructural spending and stabilization of the Nigerian economy. 5. Providing Employment Opportunities for Youths: President Jonathan has introduced numerous programmes to provide economic opportunities for Nigerian youths. He spearheaded the YouWIN programme, aimed at creating youth employment and alleviating poverty. The programme will create 80,000 -110,000 jobs over 3 years. He also introduced SURE-P (The Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme), which has already created 185,000 jobs across the country. 6. Reducing Inflation: Under President Jonathan’s leadership, the inflation rate has been reduced to 8% from 14%. This is due in part to the President’s agricultural sector reforms, which have led to a drop in food prices. 7. Supporting the ICT Sector: The strides made by President Jonathan in the ICT sector have made Nigeria the largest internet market in Africa by volume, with about 48.4 million users. 8. Privatising the Power Sector: President Jonathan successfully privatized the power sector, positioning the sector to respond adequately to growing power demands and ensuring that Nigerian businesses have the stable power supply they need to thrive and grow. 9. Rebasing the Economy: President Jonathan was able to rebase the Nigerian economy, securing Nigeria’s place as the largest economy in Africa and the 23rd in the world with a GDP of about $503 billion. 10. Increasing Foreign Direct Investment: Under President Jonathan’s administration, Nigeria has become the number one destination in Africa for foreign direct investment. This development has brought about predictions that Nigeria will be the third fastest growing economy in the world in 2015 according to CNN business. Under President Jonathan, Nigeria hosted the World Economic Forum on Africa for the first time in 2014, showcasing Nigeria’s impressive economic growth to a global audience and attracting further foreign investment. President Jonathan has done what no other administration has been able to do in reviving the Nigerian economy in 4 short years, moving Nigeria forward. Help ensure that our economy continues to grow by voting for President Jonathan and the PDP on February 14! Sincerely, The Forward Nigeria Team |
