raining fitfully . it was cold in the bus for the AC was low.

first impression, philipinos were short and usually had a tummy in middle age.

today i would take 11 hour bus ride. traversed approximately 600km. from manila to naga city.

the girl sitting next to me was very smelly. plus the fatigue after a sleepless night and the long bus ride, i wanted to VOMIT.

i shifted to another seat and felt better.

philippines was still a third world country. i needed to be open-minded and prepared to rough myself.

the surburb of manila. looked like industrial zones. but out of this metropolis, the rest of the country was paddy fields and rural scenes.

arrived in manila, mabe got ripped off by the taxi from the airport . but at least the driver, after ascertained my round-coubtry route, took me to one of the many bus stations, which running specific line buses to my next stop. taxi fee , after negotiation, 1500naira.

this slip was the "ticket" for the bus. puntuation as fare counting. strange way.

day 1

took a red eye flight to save (a lot of )money. departure time 5am in the morning . suffered a miserable sleepless night in the airport.

my intended route, but later i prolonged it because i traveled fast and had spare time .

the asian country i like most, phillipines.

out of almost 10 asian countries i have visited, phillipines, with its people , is the most lovely , friendly, westernized , open-minded and "NORMAL". by the way , the least liked asian country , by me , is vietnam , which possesses the opposite characters and which is amazingly situated not far from philippines.

by 6 boat trips and numerous long-distance buses, i roamed almost all the country.

May I ask what the initial purpose of the trip is. It's sounds like a long and and inconvenient one

1. is there any man who does not want to adventure? adventure in shipshape europe or in "inconvenient" india ?

2. india was one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

3. i dont have money and energy to do the REAL adventure, such as the antarctica, the new guinea, the amazon jungle. so, india is an easy choice.

4. isnt it said , 21st century is an indian century ? hype or not, just to go there and to have a look is the best way to find out.

5.i dont find anything particularly negative about india, except for its food, which i can not accept. it is a country, big, with large population, and diversity. so , it has to be interesting.

6. it is a leisure travel. eat, see, take photos, the usual stuff by every common traveler. it is not for any other purposes.

BACK HOME

end of the whole journey .

backed to airport. two north korean oversea laborers with KIM's badge on their chests , sitting in front of me. they enquired an indian of the flight to china. funny.

chips bought for my driver. he declined to join my meal. because it was really costly. a meal can be three times that of an indian meal. and i have already paid the traffic and gasoline money.

local money , very small denomination.

the kitchen of the eatery. i used local money with a very low exchange rate from the airport. but i paid the driver with dollars. 100dollars to and back.

my dinner. expensive. price double that of india. chicken with very spicy chilli.

the world heritage site and one of the most famous religion mountains worldwide. adam peak. muslim, christians and buddhists, and atheists like me all come to here.

dark, raining, possible tigers, exhaustion, cold, not enough time....

from airport to adam peak , about 50km , from map, it had more than 10000 turnings. every 10 meters a stomach-churning turning. crazy ! out of 18 hours layover, i spent 12 hours in the car. tired to extreme , overnight.

my most impressive birthday , 1st , june.

got a visa on arrival at colombo and checked out sri lanka.

i adventurously went to adam peak which was 6 hours drive . i also intended to climb it in dark. but it was raning like hell and we, me and the driver were exhausted, i had to undergo another 6 hours on the meandering "expressway".

sri lanka, my stopever for 18 hours, it looked nice from paper.

what the hell? the toilet on indian flight . they dont know how to use toilet paper. they use hands .

very low efficient ticket desk. even indian themselves were impatient. 1 hour only 6 people checked in

monsoon came puntually on the first day of june. it last for 25 days.

other snacks

pizza in the airport. 700naira. at least clean .
