Emmanuel Okoyomon, a former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPM), is to be extradited to the United Kingdom to face charges of corruption and money laundering. Justice E. S Chukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, gave the order on Monday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said in a press statement. Okoyomon’s extradition is being sought by the United Kingdom over his alleged role in a bribery allegation involving officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, NSPM and Securency International Pty of Australia between 2006 and 2008. Alex Izinyon, counsel to the accused, had challenged the jurisdiction of the court to entertain and determine the matter, arguing that no extradition treaty exists between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and that the 2002 London Scheme for extradition within the Commonwealth does not apply in Nigeria. http://centralreporters..com/2015/05/court-orders-extradition-to-uk-of-ex.html http://saharareporters.com/2015/05/04/court-orders-extradition-uk-ex-mint-boss-emmanuel-okoyomon

Gentlemen of the Press: You will recall that soon after the 2015 general elections, the media, especially the social media have been awash with sponsored negative publications and other insinuations against the leadership of our great party. You will also recall that we had hinted you on several occasions that some fifth columnists working with other parties had been concocting some frivolous allegations and sponsoring amorphous groups against the National Working Committee. We had also alerted the Nigerian public through you that some members of our party including ambitious aides and associates of President Goodluck Jonathan are using their perceived closeness to him to further their heinous agenda of injecting crisis in the party with a view to highjacking the structure for their selfish interests. In the attempt to discredit the NWC, these elements pushed out series of misleading information to the unsuspecting public alleging that the party leadership mismanaged the Presidential campaign funds, leading to the poor performance in the polls and as such NWC should be made to resign. When this wicked and baseless allegation was debunked by the NWC who publicly clarified that it was not involved in the handling of the campaign and its funding, and that such were exclusively managed by the Presidential Campaign Organization appointed by the President, these divisive elements in their desperation came up with another allegation claiming that the leadership embezzled funds belonging to the party. Even after the NWC also debunked this despicable allegation, showing that the party’s funds were judiciously appropriated for our state election campaigns, this group resorted to labeling the NWC with attempts to instigate President Jonathan, PDP governors and other well-meaning members of our party against the national leadership. This is in addition to recent sponsored publications accusing the NWC of corruption with claims that members shared monies generated from the sale of forms from aspirants for the general elections. For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that this national leadership has remained very transparent in all its dealing since coming into office. No NWC member has been involved in anyway in any sleaze or embezzlement of party funds. Also, no member of the NWC has ever been accused of embezzlement of funds in any ministry, department or agencies of government at any level whatsoever. We state clearly that we have not been given any money rather this NWC generated billions of naira from the sale of forms from where we funded our candidates for governorship and state assembly elections in all the states of the federation in addition to funds released to key leaders including NWC and BoT members to prosecute the campaigns in their various areas. The NWC is willing and ready to make this account public in line with the freedom of information law. We hereby wish to alert the general public and all our members that the main agenda of these elements is not only to hijack the national leadership but also to create an impression of division and crisis and pave the way to lure some of our elected members to decamp to other parties apparently in view of the recent ruling of the Supreme Court which allows defection in the event of leadership crisis at their party’s national level. However, we are happy to announce that the leader of our party, President Jonathan, the PDP governors and other key stakeholders of our party including governors and legislators-elect are deeply concerned about this development and have intervened to ensure the desired stability in our party. We thank the President for his role in calling all stakeholders to order in the general interest of the party. In the same vein, we thank our governors and elders of the party for their mediation as well as in joining forces with the NWC in the efforts to reengineer and rebuild our great party and reposition to it to regain power in 2019. As you are aware, part of our reengineering process is the setting up of the PDP Post Election Assessment Committee, which is to be inaugurated tomorrow to evaluate and assess our performance in the general elections and make recommendations for the way forward. On this note we wish to state clearly that there is no crisis in the national leadership of the PDP. The National Working Committee under the Chairmanship of Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu is duly elected and is fully in control of the administration of the party until the expiration of its tenure in March 2016 in line with the provisions of the constitution of our great party. We therefore urge all our members across the country to close ranks and work together with their leaders at all levels and make themselves partners in progress in the all important on-going rebuilding process aimed at restoring the supremacy of the party and its glory as the preeminent party in Nigeria. What we need now is to eschew all personal and private agenda and join forces to reinvent our party for the task ahead. Good one, now the reviews continues |
President Goodluck Jonathan's associates have released up documentary evidence that members of the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stole funds belonging to the party's treasury shortly after President Jonathan lost the presidential election on March 28, 2015. Two close associates of the president spoke to SaharaReporters on what one of them described as "shameless stealing of party funds by officials entrusted with running the affairs of the party." The two sources disclosed that President Jonathan felt betrayed by the "greedy actions" of the NWC members. The Presidency sources gave SaharaReporters internal vouchers showing that the party's NWC members shelled out over a quarter of billion naira in unexplained fees to themselves on April 8, 2015. The monies, which were paid out of the party’s Zenith Bank account number ending with 6016, revealed that the party's national chairman, Adamu Muazu, was paid N100 million through Julius Berger PLC while the deputy chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, received N40 million. The documents provided by the Presidency also revealed that the PDP's national secretary, Adewale Oladipo, got N30 million. Other members who got N30 million each include Buhari Bala, who is national treasurer of the party, Bolaji Akpan Anani, national financial secretary, Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary, Adeyanju Fatai, the party's national auditor, Abubakar Mustapha, national organizing secretary, Kema Chikwe, national women leader, Victor Yusuf Kwon, national Legal adviser, Hussaini Maibasira, and the deputy national secretary, Onwe Solomon. Apart from the scandalous payments, another set of documents shows that the PDP also compelled delegates to its annual convention to pay N10,000 each into the private accounts of Marufi Nigeria Limited. One of the Presidency sources described the company as a fraudulent front linked to a top member of the NWC. One of the Presidency sources stated that the NWC members contributed in a large measure to the defeat of President Jonathan, adding that they more interested in pursuing their private material interests than the party's corporate interest. "They were too busy helping themselves to party funds as President Jonathan's campaign suffered." In a fierce rebuttal, several of the NWC members told SaharaReporters stated that President Jonathan was the architect of his own failure. "He was the person running the country, not members of the NWC. If Nigerians turned against him, it's not because of anything the NWC did or didn't do," one member said. Another NWC member accused the president and his closest associates of operating the president's multi-billion dollar campaign using structures outside the party. One member of the NWC accused President Jonathan of planning to hijack the party in order to place his loyalists in place in anticipation of running for office again in 2019. The NWC member accused Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State of leading the plot to remove the Muazu-led NWC. "We are determined to ensure that nobody can just pocket a party that many eminent Nigerians contributed to establish," one NWC source vowed. Before going to press PDP Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh told Saharareporters that the payments was made to assist NWC for the Governorship and state house of assembly elections that took place on April 11th 2015. He said that since the Presidency was more concerned about transparency, they Presidency Campaign Council should publish how it gave out N700 million to each state and most importantly how the Presidency spent Nigerian resources in the last 6 years. http://centralreporters..com/2015/05/pdp-crisis-president-jonathans-men.html http://saharareporters.com/2015/05/03/pdp-crisis-president-jonathan%E2%80%99s-men-produce-evidence-corruption-nwc-members
