Kewtt: ![]() If that will help us improve our own system. But they are already chasing us away from every community, so I think they can decipher our plan ![]() |
Flangelo12:He will run away. I have been engaging him on that aspect for so long,he refuses to see the connection between low taxes and under development and higher taxes and more citizens' benefits. All he knows is hating Tinubu all day long ![]() |
Shameless old fool. I hate people like this . |
23jerryking:Look up ,I replied you already |
Evilthoughts:Nobody is dictating to Africa. Countries are simply protecting what they’ve built. Wanting everyone to lower their standards instead of raising ours is evil. So Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Mauritius and Seychelles will just pack Africa into a Ghana-Must-Go bag and relocate by Monday morning. International relations solved. 👏 |
isio1:I understand the anger, and you’re right about one thing: corruption and government waste are Nigeria’s biggest problems. But natural resources alone don’t translate to development. Countries don’t develop because of what’s in the ground, they develop because of how well the state is funded, managed, and enforced. South Africa does not have Nigeria’s oil reserves, true. But it has something Nigeria lacks: a broader tax base, stronger compliance, and institutions that actually collect and spend revenue with some level of accountability. Fighting corruption and increasing tax revenue are not mutually exclusive. In fact, you can’t sustainably fight corruption without adequate funding for institutions, audits, courts, infrastructure, and public services. The fuel subsidy example proves my point. Nigerians are already paying more, but because the state lacks structure and credibility, the pain feels wasted. The problem is not Nigerians’ willingness to pay—it’s how the money is managed. Resources don’t build countries—institutions do. Corruption must be tackled, yes, but no country develops on minimal taxes, especially one of 200+ million people. Nigerians aren’t unwilling to pay; they’re unwilling to be robbed. The solution is reform and revenue, not one without the other. @ brain54 ezmans 23jerryking I think this answers your posts as well |
23jerryking:Nigeria has one of the lowest income tax rates in Africa, what were you hoping there would achieve other than low development output🫡. The higher the taxes the more developed the country will be. Morroco, South Africa and other Northern African states are good example of that. The lower the tax rate the worst the country is governed ; Nigeria, Congo ,Burundi etc are testament to that 🫣 |
If we want the same standards and annual budget South Africa has, are we willing to pay the price they are paying for all the development they have? That's the biggest question. South Africans pay 40% and above in taxation, are ready for that or we just want the beauty and class without paying the price tag for it ? You cannot be this organised and developed without the budget to match the standards. Let's pay the taxes first and complain later if the government doesn't deliver. |
MrUnitedstatesA:Mr , South Africa is a multi-racial country and a high middle income country and it has millions of indigenous English population who have been living there since the 1800s. So South Africa is a very different African country hence it gets a different treatment globally, that's why they are also heavily criticized when they fail to live up to expectation whilst other African countries who fail or elect dictators ,no one says a thing , the country is held on a different standard in the eyes of those outside Africa. So it's foolish to realistically compare SA and Nigeria on the global stage. Nigeria is the biggest black nation in the world, and that's our advantage and I like that Tinubu is using that wisely these days. We need to use our population as leverage sameway South Africa uses her multi-racislism as leverage. Let's stop whining about what we don't have and use what we have fully and effectively. We are more likely to be seen as an example by most of Africa than South Africa because we have similar demographics, challenges and history to the rest of the continent unlike the south Africans who seem more different and strange to the rest of the continent because their own story is very different and most can't relate. We must use this to win. Big up Naija. The giant is waking up. |
Evilthoughts:What you're asking for will never be allowed by a fraction of functioning African states. If you were Morrococan ,South African, Egyptian Or from Seychelles or Mauritius would you want open borders or one African passport when your own passport has more value ? . They will never agree ,so those are just slogans and daydreaming from your part . |
OneCandleAway:Then as an Igbo I'm telling you that we also have a role to play in that forgiveness and reconciliation. We are not just victims of hate and divisions but also perpetrators. There is no Nigerian more innocent or more guilty than the other.. we have all cause harm to one another whether knowingly or not. Everyone deserves peace and forgiveness in Nigeria. |
Nothing will come ofthis one like the previous summits. It's all slogans and vibes but no action. I wish this useless organization can be disbanded ,it's too compromised with both the East and West influencing it heavily. |
OneCandleAway:I'm Igbo too, but we need to realise that the war affected everyone in Nigeria and for us all to heal ,we cannot afford to put the pain of one group ontop of others. We are creating nothing but suspicion and resentment with your kind of talks. Igbos are owed peace and Igbos owe others peace too. My two cents |
This is a good thing? Both giving out money that should be used to better the lives of Nigerians to buy Trump's love and acceptance. So disgusting and embarrassing. This is not the way to go for both groups especially the fg |
MrUnitedstatesA:Look at you talking down on your mother who fed you. On your sisters who probably pay for your clothes and hardworking and industrious Nigerian women in general. How can a society function with only one group exerting power, you think that kind of society is desirable,? If so ,when you Japa would you leave for a country that practices what you preach ( treating women like non entities) or will you go to the liberal ones?. There are millions of Nigerian women paying their home bills ,feeding their children and husbands but silently without making any noise. Nigerian youth aren't blocked by anyone,we are just too selfish to come together without the guarantee that we will get money on positions. You think the other African countries don't have those old men too,how come they are able to push them aside when need arise? No,you mention his tribe a lot more than you mention his name, so clearly it's more tribal than performance . Saudi and them produce more oil than Nigeria and they have far less population, not to mention that they are more homogeneous( Islamic) and Nigeria is diverse . Mention any other country outside of these outliers that are prosperous without tax ? |
MrUnitedstatesA:Let me ask you something first; before APC ( that you clearly faults for the lack of things you want to see) did their predecessors provide for the numbers you asked for ? I'm no ways excusing that APC failed but I'm trying to point out a pattern . None of the administrations in Nigeria will ever give you what you want without you committing first as a citizen. Tax and activitism just like in the countries you wish to copy. You can't have your cake and eat it. You'll have to pay for that infrastructure and get involved in making it happen and maintaining it. Are you willing to go all the way ? |
MrUnitedstatesA:So that's not meaningful infrastructure that's a game changer for the affected areas ? See what I mean? You simply can't let go of hate for APC and Tinubu to the point that you can't even see the progress happening before your eyes. Have you visited your state lately ? And where exactly are you from so that I can point out the infrastructural development happening in your own backyard . |
Oh you don't say🤣. We didn't even notice . |
The African countries with such high rankings, their citizens Pay the highest taxes in Africa. Their youth and women are allowed to participate meanifully in politics. Their youth are not money obsessed but work together regardless of tribe and religion to hold those who govern accountable. Are you ready to let go of your tribal hate of Tinubu for starters. ? Are you ready to question the wrongs of Obi? Are you ready to pay over 40% of your salary to tax ?. |
vikithor:https://www.nairaland.com/8182194/everyday-xenophobia-sa-it-still You went into another man's country with the above opinion of them and thought you'd live in peace with them ? .You didn't say why is our embassy not addressing the criminality that leads to violence and stereotyping. And since you were trying to sneak in to their country, what exactly do you do over there ? Do you have papers to stay or you want to blame the Nigerian government as well for your poor life choices 😕. What you're going through over there isn't because of the embassy or consulate, it's because of you. You were told on your thread but you chose to be stubborn Mr know it all. Enjoy what you cooked . |
I really don't like this man,he is too petty and childish to hold such a position 😒. He has good points but he is too streetwise in voicing them out |
Usmanovic95:Those metrics are the exact reason we japa to their countries, so you cannot take them out of the conversation when they make life much easier . And those metrics didn't come easy for them either, they worked hard to have them which we must also do before insulting them unprovoked. Healthcare Quality education Wages Minimum wage Quality roads Welfare system Etc these don't fly into countries, they elect goof leaders and work for them . So we should also blame ourselves for electing these criminals |
helinues:There is no country in Africa more globally aligned than South. Look us up on Gdp per capita Healthcare Education Tourism Infrastructural development Standard of living Acesss to welfare Salaries for professional jobs Etc etc how do we fare better than North, Southern and Eastern counterparts?🙄. Why don't we take your advice as well and focus on developing Nigeria instead of going around insulting and belittling others and playing victim when they retaliate? You're a dishonest person ,the vert reason for our poor global image. You're not defending Naija but you're living in fantasy world |
helinues:But the sadafricans aren't the ones seeking asylum all over the world running away from insecurity, we are the ones known for that. They are not the ones whose country tourists and migrants avoid ,Nigeria is. Their tourists don't walk around with police escorts but in naija they do. Be honest with yourself for once ,I know you get paid to defend the administration and lie but the truth is out there for all to see |
helinues:I relocated years ago and not to attack Nigeria but to better my life. And stop lying ,wasn't it not our citizens who started calling Zambian women men and they got mad and came for us 🙄 |
PulaPower:Go back to where this beef started with Namibians. The ishowspeed visit to Namibia where Nigerians started dragging them and they retaliated with brutal blows . We threw the first punch and they started shooting ![]() |
PulaPower:But we started the dragging ,now they are finishing us,why did we feel the need to go after them in the first place? . |
Usmanovic95:The Nami beer had me laughing so hard 🤣. But honestly it's not our politithifians who go around looking for trouble in other African countries or online dragging other Africans, it's us the availability citizens who bring this ridicule on ourselves . Was there any need for Nigerians to go about belittling the culture and country of these quiet people unprovoked ? Did Tinubu,Atiku or Obi do this ? No. Let's be accountable for our behavior abeg |
If you enter between her legs, why will you refuse to help her keep it clean and healthy ? |
LordviccoDaGuru:Was Buhari your sugar daddy or not ? |
We have heard na. Now let them stay off the media |
This is very childish of Obi. He could have used another issue to mock or get Tunubus attention. But using a tragic incident that took someone's life to earn cheap political points is distasteful and proves his desperation. So annoying and heartless. |
Why not also compare the corruption rate. If you really want Nigerians to pay 40% tax. If the government can reasonably minimize or wipe out corruption or even reduce government wastages, development can come with even minimal tax. Nigerians are very ready to pay any amount, e.g after the whole noise about fuel subsidy, are Nigerians not paying today?
