Nigeria’s footballing authorities have been left stunned as a massive sum of money was stolen from their offices. The sum of $200,000 (€146,000) was stolen when the offices of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja were burgled Wednesday night, officials have announced. "We are still shocked by this discovery because this is the first time this has happened here," said NFF secretary-general Bolaji Ojo-Oba. "This [has] stunned everybody but we are up to it and our investigators are working on the case. We are positive we will recover this money." It is believed that the bulk of this money was meant for the country's preparations for their World Cup qualifier against Mozambique on March 29 in Maputo. However, Ojo-Oba assured that the theft will not disrupt the Super Eagles build-up for the Mozambique tie, which includes a training stint in South Africa ahead of the match. adapted from goal .com |
