I know how agonizing it is to watch our little ones suffer catarrh or any illness (my daughter had the cold recently)

1. I have reservations for silverbird. even though I hear other mothers say they use it....But it's eucalyptus oil which is recommended for children 2years and above.

2. please give them vitamin c drops. it will help boost their immune system. you too should take fruits rich in vit c like Apples so they can get it from the breastmilk (that is if you are breastfeeding )

3. If breastfeeding./formulafeeding...feed them more than you normally do. even if its small small quantity more times in a day . colds and cattarh causes loss of fluid. so they need to have replenishment which will also help thin out the mucus

4. do steaM inhalation for them morning and night. You have to be VERY careful while doing this one. since they are two you will need someone to assist you. cover their head with a towel and let them inhale the steam. they will cry well. But just let them inhale the steam for like 5minutes, to loosen up the ones in their chest ,so it can run out. .......another option if you have a heater in your bathroom....run the hot water and close the door and Windows of the bathroom so the bathroom will be steamy while you bath them , they will inhale it and it will help.

5. press hot water on their chest and back. be careful not to scald them.

6. take little mentholatum rub on their chest and feet before you dress them up. for dressing please cover them well. If they wear night suit, wear a vest for them under it. But watch the weather....If it becomes too hot, look for something light but not too light like a short sleeve and trouser.

7. please let where they stay be rid of dust. wash your hands and theirs regularly. and if anybody else is carrying them let the person maintain proper hygiene too.

8. catarrh has no drug. it will go when it is done. don't be tempted to give any drug (minus vit c). just do these to alleviate the symptoms.
your babies will be fine
Thanks God bless you

AlphaHandMaiden:
If you are in lagos i may know someone who has one she is no longer using. Let me ask if she still has it and if she wants to sell.

But i have to add the following:

Please, Please, Please be careful about used car seats as you can sometimes not guarantee how it has been previously used. For instance if it has been in an accident before it is more or less useless and should have been discarded and not be sold on. But one is not able to see any damage on these things sometimes by quickly looking at them.

Car seats are one of the few baby things that are advisable to buy new but i can understand that with twins and all cost can go up pretty quickly so if you can get a good and reliable source, by all means go a head, and get a used one but remember that the reason for a car seat is to safely carry a child in a vehicle.

So shine your eye and use microscope to inspect any that you are interested in well well, bear in mind the following:

●ask about the previous usage history especially if it has been in an accident before. Any accident! from ocada rider to trailer bashing! Even it being tumbled down a flight of stairs ( without a child in it i hope! ) In my opinion it is better to buy a pre-used carseat from the previous owner rather than a second hand shop as you will get more information as to how it was used.

●Check the manufacurers details, and google them for reviews before you go and inspect it.

●ask for the manual, this will ensure you can install it properly in the car, or how to remove the cover for washing etc. Although most good brands will have youtube how-tos online but a physical manual is still good.

●Check for any obvious signs of wear and tear - kindly ask them to remove the cover and check all the belts , clasps, fixings etc.

●Go preferably for the european or american brands or those made for those markets.... as the EU and US safety standards and test methods are by far better and more rigorous than the chinese for example. ( check the labels and stamps to see what test standards they use, it should be a number with either an EN or ASTM Prefix for EU or US products respectively.)

●Take a responsible other person with you to help you check it thoroughly.

●TAKE YOUR TIME and inspect it well.

Good luck
yes am in lag, I really want to buy new but its way above me that's why am asking here, 60k is above me now for car seats. My babies are underweight soam trying to pump dem with similacwhich costs me so much. Thanks sis
