“Buhari who staged a coup in 1983, removed the political class and clamped them into prisons is the same Buhari doing the same thing, today, dehumanizing humanity “Today, we are more divided as a people. There is more poverty in the country than it was in the past; more pains and agonies. APC has no history like the PDP. It is a mere political contraption. “For us to have a country which belongs to all Nigerians in a federation, we must have equal rights and opportunity. Every Nigerian has the right to access power whether from the North or South. “Buhari and the APC have no vision, no human compassion and all they like doing is to inflict pains on Nigerians. They want to destroy people’s living standard to a level that they will all become perpetually poor. A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Sule Lamido has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of dehumanizing Nigerians like he did in 1983. Lamido speaking in Benin City, Edo State on Thursday while addressing delegates ahead of the October National Convention of the party, insisted that Buhari who staged a coup in 1983, removed the political class and clamped them into prisons, “is the same Buhari doing the same thing today, dehumanizing humanity.” He urged Nigerians to join hands with his party to rescue the country from the clutches of President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC. The former Jigawa State governor said “For us to have a country which belongs to all Nigerians in a federation, we must have equal rights and opportunity. Every Nigerian has the right to access power whether from the North or South. “PDP made some mistakes. Some of its members were reckless but they are humans. Time will cure us because they are humans. Some us are calling Buhari’s name because we don’t have institutions. The economy is very weak, no security, no bureaucracy, and no standing institutions to protect all of us in terms of justice and fairness. One single human being is appropriating Nigeria as if it is his own. “Today, this party of saints called the APC is a party of pains, hunger, anger and evil and where are we today? It is a party which has no historical foundation, no philosophy, ideology. “Buhari and the APC have no vision, no human compassion and all they like doing is to inflict pains on Nigerians. They want to destroy people’s living standard to a level that they will all become perpetually poor. “Leadership is geared towards raising people, motivate and give hope and confidence. All those that makes APC government thick are former PDP members. “They are former governors, senators, ministers, ambassadors among others. The PDP you maligned is now the prominent members of the party and if you says we are thieves, then the government in Abuja is of evil people. “The former PDP members are the ones that produce the APC government in Abuja. Then how do we build a nation by maligning each other’s where there is no love, respect. Leadership is about that human feeling in you, the feeling of care and compassion. When you see poverty, you feel it. “Nigeria is for us and not for APC, Lamido or for PDP, as such nobody can come and destroy the country. Be on the watch out. My aspiration is not a desperation. But you and I have been in PDP. We have been demoralized, gone through hell, coerce but yet we never left the party.” https://www.thenewsbook.net/buhari-has-not-changed-from-1983-lamido-carpets-apc

Buhari's damaging and outdated monetary policy has been crippling the Nigerian Economy and led the country into recession Buhari's anticorruption drive that is selective and focused on senior members of the opposition party creates deep political divisions. Meanwhile, members of Mr. Buhari’s own cabinet, accused of large-scale corruption, walk free. Seventy percent of the national treasury is spent on the salaries and benefits of government officials, who make upwards of $2 million a year. The manufacturing sector, essential to Nigeria’s diversification, has been hardest hit, exacerbating an already fast-growing employment crisis. Foreign investors have started to flee en masse. Nigerian President Muhummadu Buhari writes of building an economic bridge to Nigeria’s future (“The Three Changes Nigeria Needs,” op-ed, June 14). It’s hard to see how his administration’s inflexibility, lack of vision and reactive approach will achieve this. Mr. Buhari notes that building trust is a priority for Nigeria. But an anticorruption drive that is selective and focused on senior members of the opposition party creates deep political divisions. Meanwhile, members of Mr. Buhari’s own cabinet, accused of large-scale corruption, walk free. Seventy percent of the national treasury is spent on the salaries and benefits of government officials, who make upwards of $2 million a year. As for Mr. Buhari’s ideas to rebalance the economy and regenerate growth, his damaging and outdated monetary policy has been crippling. The manufacturing sector, essential to Nigeria’s diversification, has been hardest hit, exacerbating an already fast-growing employment crisis. Foreign investors have started to flee en masse. Mr. Buhari makes only brief mention of the country’s deteriorating security situation. But security and stability are precursors to economic growth and development. Boko Haram has been pushed back for now, but little attention is paid to the structural issues that have spurred its rise. Instead, the Nigerian government has diverted much-needed military resources to the Niger Delta, where rising militancy has reduced Nigeria’s oil production to less than half the country’s capacity, and half the amount required to service the national budget. Much of these tensions arise from Mr. Buhari’s decision to cut amnesty payments to militants and an excessively hard-line approach in a socially and politically sensitive environment. Other ethnic tensions are also growing. In the country’s south, protests have been met by a bloody response from the Nigerian military, stoking the fire and galvanizing support for an independent state of Biafra. Rising tensions could again pose one of the greatest threats to Nigeria’s stability and future. The Abuja division of the Federal High Court has described the two years detention of journalist Jones Abiri as outright conviction and ordered government to pay N10 million in damages to Mr Abiri.God bless the judiciary Buhari is an unrepentant dictator

The Abuja division of the Federal High Court has described the two years detention of journalist Jones Abiri as outright conviction and ordered government to pay N10 million in damages to Mr Abiri. Mr Abiri was arrested in August 2016 and detained for two years till his lawyers, led by human rights activist, Femi Falana filed a fundamental suit against the Federal government. Following outcry by various human rights agencies and the media, Mr Abiri was arraigned on militancy at a magistrate court in Abuja. Speaking at a judgement on Mr Abiri’s fundamental rights suit at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Thursday، the judge, Nnamdi Dimgba, said the federal government had no right to detain Mr Abiri after taking his statement in 2016. “Having taken his statement, the applicant should have been arraigned,” Mr Dimgba ruled. The judge said the federal government’s submission that Mr Abiri was detained in national security was baseless. According to the judge, the federal government should have filled the suit against the defendant and asked the court to refuse him bail, so that the court will use its discretion in determining whether Mr Abiri should be granted bail on not The court therefore declared Mr Abiri’s detention illegal and an abuse of his fundamental rights. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/283404-breaking-court-awards-n10-million-damages-against-nigeria-for-illegal-detention-of-journalist-jones-abiri.html
