Sports / Nigeria Fans Want Okocha Out Of Retirement by ilovesoccer: 6:16pm On May 28, 2016
The former midfielder was in thrilling form during Friday’s testimonial for Joseph Yobo in Port Harcourt that Super Eagles fans want him back.

At the height of his prowess, Bolton Wanderers fans used to sing that Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha was so good they named him twice.

More than a decade after he last played for the Super Eagles, Nigeria fans want the former midfielder recalled from retirement after he dazzled at Friday’s testimonial for Joseph Yobo in Port Harcourt.

Even Cameroonian super star Samuel Eto’o was intimidated by his array of skills that he asked for the Nigeria legend to be substituted before half time.

Okocha set up two goals for Team Nigeria with some piercing passes from midfield which left everyone stunned by his vision. His feints and turns left opponents lost as he took viewers down memory lane.

Fans took to social media in appreciation of his vintage skills which looked as fresh as it was in youth despite not having played professional football for more than a decade.

If the wish of Nigeria fans comes true, Okocha might be lacing his boots once again for the Super Eagles who have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations on two consecutive editions.

He won’t be the only legend coming out of retirement though as Brazilian legend Pele has also said he would be warming up to play at the Olympics in August.

Who knows, Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia might have found the magic player for his final over-23 slot for the summer.

The Nigeria National League board have suspended FC Taraba until they pay off all the monies they owe their players from last season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Jalingo-based outfit were relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League last term.
NNL Secretary, Lawrence Katken, stated that the club will play no part in the league until they comply with the decision of the 2015 Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation on the payment of backlog of salaries and allowances to the players.
“Football is governed by rules and rules are meant to be obeyed. We have no choice but to implement the decision of the Congress,” said Katken in a release made available to Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We always have to ensure that clubs in the NNL are ready to run because they move to the Premier League from the NNL.
“It behoves on us to direct them well.”
FC Taraba are due to take on Supreme Court on Sunday.

Sports / UEFA Champions League Final: Real Madrid Vs Atletico Madrid (7:45pm) LIVE! by ilovesoccer: 9:08am On May 27, 2016
The UEFA Champions League final is just around the corner and once again it will be a side from Spain taking home the most iconic trophy in European football.

This is a game that can certainly go either way. Both teams have been severely tested throughout not only this competition but also La Liga, where they both fell short of FC Barcelona.

With the most number of Champions League titles (10), Real Madrid certainly know how to win these blockbuster fixtures. The most recent of these was from two years ago when these sides met in the final, yet that result has little relevance today apart from purely a motivational factor for both clubs.

Arguably the most influential player on the pitch has to be Cristiano Ronaldo. Having scored 16 goals with just two more needed to break his record of 17 goals in Madrid’s 2013-14 campaign, Ronaldo is obviously a severe threat to the Atlètico’s defence.

Not to be outdone, Antoine Griezmann has been significant for Atlètico with seven goals at vital stages throughout the competition.

Threatening due to his speed, terrific ball control and creativity on the outside, Saul Niguez is a player Real need to shutdown.

Struggling in this year’s tournament, Fernando Torres needs to lift for Atlètico in the final. Although he has scored just one goal from eleven matches, Torres is the kind of player who could prove vital in a massive tie such as this one.

Defence has been the building blocks for Atlètico’s success in the 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League, but this will be tested yet again on Saturday.

Real Madrid possess strong attacking midfielders who constantly pressure the opposition through exquisite and creative passing. Modric, Kroos and Bale are classy playmakers capable of scoring if not causing defensive errors from their respective opponents. Keeping this midfield guarded and ineffective will be extremely difficult for Atlètico.

It is because of this factor that Real Madrid should win the Champions League for a record eleventh time. Despite Atlètico’s strong resilience throughout this competition, Real’s squad consists of too much firepower and too many threats.

Sports / This Is Cheating Mikel Slams Egypt For Not Playing Fair by ilovesoccer: 10:15am On Mar 26, 2016
Captain of the Super Eagles, John Mikel Obi, has criticized Egypt’s players after Friday’s 1-1 draw in Kaduna.
Oghenekaro Etebo scored for Nigeria, before Mohamed Salah equalized in the 90th minute.

The goal came after defender Godfrey Oboabona had fallen on the pitch and the Egyptians refused to play the ball out.

“I think we played very well but we lost a lot of chances that we created that could have fetched us total victory in today’s match against Egypt,” Mikel told media.

“Everybody is saying we lost the game in the last three minutes but all I can say is that fair play is fair play, it doesn’t matter, fair play is fair play.

“Okay you can say we should have concentrated a little more, but Fair Play is Fair Play. This is cheating, that is all I can say. It happens in Egypt, it happens everywhere. It doesn’t matter how many minutes it is, you have to allow it. It is the referee that controls the game.”
