Jobs/Vacancies / The Untold Story Of MOUAU Sacked Workers:1yr After Like Buhari Like Otunta by ImagoDei1: 1:00pm On May 23, 2018
Barely 1yr after the sack of over 400 staff in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Abia State things have gone from bad to worse in the university..
Many reasons adduced by the vice chancellor for hurried and irrational sack of staff are:
The university is overstaffed so can't pay full salary until the number of staff are reduced.
The names of the newly employed workers by his predecessor are not in Abuja and so are not recognized by FCC..
Many of the staff who were employed by the previous administration paid money to get the job..
But from the forgoing, none of these excuses is real..
The university has been unable to pay full salary one yr after the sack..
Senate committee on ethics and privilege that investigated the matter found out that the Federal Character Commission (FCC) approved the employement and those sacked workers met all the requirements to be employed in Nigeria civil service..
And therefor should be reabsorbed back..
My own finding...
Otunta wants to create space to employ his own people by sacking all the workers whose employment status has not been confirmed..
Otunta is bereft of ideas so has resort to blaming his predecessor just like Buhari.. Why? There is nobody who assumes a leadership position without meeting a problem left to him by his predecessor and it's this problem that you are coming to solve and blame game and excuses..
Now since the workers were sacked their salaries are been released by federal government then in whose purse is it going to?
Finally,as Otunta has refused to call back all the workers despite Senate resolution what will be the consequences? Pls those versed with the law should tell me..
