Gazzy88:A custom's fee is taken when you buy off Amazon. They use that deposit, to clear your parcel, & if change is left they refund you the rest, it's really expensive, but you will never deal with customs wahala.

I have to say, while Amazon shipping is hella expensive, the fact that you get customs clearance done almost instantaneously for a phone is a big plus.

raumdeuter: Already aware of her position on defund the police. While I agree with her here, these are leftists positions. A question is on if the average voter agrees with her? My guess is that the average voter is more likely to be against the "defund police" movement, as "defund the police" is a dumb name and bad optics for a movement, even if I agree with the positions. So the Trump campaign has legit ammo on her here. 2 Likes

kkins25:Well to understand free speech absolutism it's easier to just point out what makes it different from the current views of free speech. Both are the belief that an individual has the inalienable right to political free speech where the state cannot prosecute or infringe on that right. The distinction is that absolutists "believe that restricting free speech in any way, including curbing insulting or factually incorrect speech, means assigning gatekeepers who decide what can and cannot be expressed in public." The necessitation of some kind of arbiter or moderator, is something they find problematic and are against. (A reason Elon had a problem with old Twitter) The core of free speech absolutism is the idea that only through a free and unfiltered exchange of views and ideas can we reach the “truth”, otherwise dubbed "freemarket of ideas". Liberal Free speech views recognizes a distraction in hate speech and political free speech. Absolute free speech views do not recognize hate speech, and anything classified as political speech is protected. My quick critique: -This may sound rosey and ideal, but the end product is due to the fact that "this life no get balance (economically and socially etc)" the speech of some are louder than others and that means the inevitable suppression of other weaker voices. -Another consequence is that this belief doesn't allow for the holding of people responsible if or when their speech results in real life violence, threats or harassment, because absolutism doesn't recognize the concept of hate speech. -There is nothing inherent about this that will result in arrival at the "truth" it's like opening up a serious discussion on orbital mechanics, to a flat earth conspiracy theorist to contribute, all you will get is unnecessary noise, not the truth. There are more critiques, but I'll keep it at this, now taking these critiques into accounts are why I'm not an absolutist, and I believe that censoring people that will use their speech in inciting harm and infringement on the rights of others as necessary to keeping the bear minimum of a functioning social fabric. So Banning Nazis, Bigots, Islamofascists, Anti-Democratic personas etc... is fair game and necessary to me, but not necessarily to a self proclaimed absolutist like Musk. Romance / Re: What Would You Like To Change About Nigerian by IMAliyu(m): 6:32pm On Jul 03 |
Badmashiii:Of all the authoritarian governments you could have chosen you choose the 2 worst as an example. The neo-monarchy of NK and the dictatorship that dragged it's people into war with a non hostile neighbor. I would much rather a Chinese, or Cuban style government, if we were ever going to be non democratic. At least these governments have a positive goal for their people, and are doing a relatively good job given their constraints. 1 Like |

I don't fall under any of the at risk groups. So no, I have no reason to get tested. Chances are even if I've unknowingly contracted it, I'm mostly likely to die without passing it some else. 1 Like 1 Share |
Family / Re: Why Nigeria Is Underdeveloped? by IMAliyu(m): 9:54pm On Jun 29 |
Victerica:Right here is the difference between IQ and education. Education is the solid amount of information and facts you know, from the Numbers and letters you learn in nursery school to the advanced theories you learn and memorize in Uni. IQ is your capability to apply your knowledge and reasoning to create something new or solve a problem. IQ is like the raw cognitive potential someone has, and unfortunately this is not something that's equal among everyone. There's evidence suggesting environmental factors and (this is still a subject of dispute) genetic factors does stunt people's IQ. Education alone will not improve someone's IQ. Things that can stunt brain development and tank a person's or community's IQ are: Being abused as a child. Malnutrition. Starvation. Lack of access to good healthcare. Exposure to toxins, like lead. etc. With this you end up getting stunted people in your society, that are superstitious, impulsive, short sighted, and/or violent. Education can only have a minor effect on changing this, without the underlying issues being addressed. 1 Like |

Religion / Re: Biblical Verses Used By colonial masters To Enslaved Africans by IMAliyu(m): 3:10pm On Jun 22 |
StillDtruth:I said "permissive" not "support" don't twist my words. And are you going to honestly argue that the Bible didn't say the quoted scripture in the OP?
This is a different type of struggle fam, which is still bad, however ownership over another human is mostly outlawed around the world and very very few people will try to justify slavery today like they did in the past. You can quit your Job and leave and no one is going to hunt you down like an animal and bring you back in chains. So yes things are slightly better. It's like I'm pointing out it's good smallpox is a thing of the past and you're bringing up malaria exists, both are bad, but both are different diseases. If you want to discuss the topic of proper compensation for work in this country I'm on board, I believe workers should unionize and demand better compensation. I'm all for worker rights. |
Religion / Re: Biblical Verses Used By colonial masters To Enslaved Africans by IMAliyu(m): 8:33pm On Jun 21 |
It's interesting how we've mostly all come to the conclusion that slavery and ownership of another human is immoral now a days, inspite of the Quran and Bible being permissive of it. And things are slightly better for it, compared to the needless human suffering because of slavery in the past. 1 Like |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Putin Demands Ukrainian Troop Withdrawal In Exchange For Peace by IMAliyu(m): 10:28pm On Jun 14 |
Bluntemperor: Putin has already stated that one of his goals is to restore the borders of the former Russian empire, which far exceeded the USSR. The man can not be trusted to not be antagonistic to neighboring countries. There's a reason most former USSR countries jumped at the opportunity to join NATO. I hope he's humiliated, and loses power over his invasion of Ukraine, and Russia can have someone more sane leading it. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Mrexcell:Then send them to prison, and let them repay society with hard labor. The death sentence is barbaric and dated. Keep in mind most political corruption isn't from mismanagement of funds. It's from lobbying, when they wealthy buyoff lawmakers to maintain their interests at the cost of the average man, and this is done in mostly entirely legal means. |

FoggedBrain:Why does that matter? Most Palestinians alive today never elected Hamas, that was in 2006, the median age of gazans is 18. And Gaza is still under Israeli control, they control their water, power and goods that come in and out. So address the question, Yes or No? 1 Like 1 Share |
