Why is it so? Aliexpress clearance takes longer.
A custom's fee is taken when you buy off Amazon.
They use that deposit, to clear your parcel, & if change is left they refund you the rest, it's really expensive, but you will never deal with customs wahala.

Technology Market / Re: This Thread Is Only For Aliexpress Shopper by IMAliyu(m): 9:01pm On Aug 29
I have to say, while Amazon shipping is hella expensive, the fact that you get customs clearance done almost instantaneously for a phone is a big plus.

I sure like to keep up in contact with you we are very few blender users in Nigeria it will be great to keep up the thread. I m into games and cinematography it's always been my passion. I plan to have my own game and movie company in the future hopefully.
Maybe we can do done together if you have the zeal to go back to blender.

Thanks for the encouragement.

But I love both 2D and 3D art and I'll keep pursuing both.

Hey bro do you still learn blender as we speak?
What part of Nigeria are you? I am a blender enthusiast my self and I love it.

How often do you keep up with blender?

I had to stop, not because I don't have interest in it, but because I don't have my own personal laptop or computer at the moment.

I've been focusing purely on 2D digital art on my phone now.

If I save enough and get a PC I'll jump back into blender

Now this is also Kamala supporting the defund Police movement

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/26/politics/kfile-kamala-harris-praised-defund-the-police-movement-in-june-2020/index.html

Already aware of her position on defund the police.
While I agree with her here, these are leftists positions. A question is on if the average voter agrees with her?
My guess is that the average voter is more likely to be against the "defund police" movement, as "defund the police" is a dumb name and bad optics for a movement, even if I agree with the positions.

So the Trump campaign has legit ammo on her here.

Update, guess I was likely wrong about the legitimacy of the leak,
However the Streisand effect Twitter caused with how they handled this is noteworthy.

Every thing's fair in Love and War!

What do you mean free speech absolutist?
Well to understand free speech absolutism it's easier to just point out what makes it different from the current views of free speech.

Both are the belief that an individual has the inalienable right to political free speech where the state cannot prosecute or infringe on that right.

The distinction is that absolutists "believe that restricting free speech in any way, including curbing insulting or factually incorrect speech, means assigning gatekeepers who decide what can and cannot be expressed in public." The necessitation of some kind of arbiter or moderator, is something they find problematic and are against. (A reason Elon had a problem with old Twitter)

The core of free speech absolutism is the idea that only through a free and unfiltered exchange of views and ideas can we reach the “truth”, otherwise dubbed "freemarket of ideas".

Liberal Free speech views recognizes a distraction in hate speech and political free speech.
Absolute free speech views do not recognize hate speech, and anything classified as political speech is protected.

My quick critique:
-This may sound rosey and ideal, but the end product is due to the fact that "this life no get balance (economically and socially etc)" the speech of some are louder than others and that means the inevitable suppression of other weaker voices.

-Another consequence is that this belief doesn't allow for the holding of people responsible if or when their speech results in real life violence, threats or harassment, because absolutism doesn't recognize the concept of hate speech.

-There is nothing inherent about this that will result in arrival at the "truth" it's like opening up a serious discussion on orbital mechanics, to a flat earth conspiracy theorist to contribute, all you will get is unnecessary noise, not the truth.

There are more critiques, but I'll keep it at this, now taking these critiques into accounts are why I'm not an absolutist, and I believe that censoring people that will use their speech in inciting harm and infringement on the rights of others as necessary to keeping the bear minimum of a functioning social fabric.
So Banning Nazis, Bigots, Islamofascists, Anti-Democratic personas etc... is fair game and necessary to me, but not necessarily to a self proclaimed absolutist like Musk.

Protest is antigovernment and shouldn't be allowed but the government can create anti people policies and stifle the people to death, yeah?
They fail to understand protest is the citizens rights to voice their concerns.

When the government blocks the means to peaceful protest, that's when they make violent protest the only alternative.

I have the same thought as well. Let me share my own view.

No any president can fix the mess in this cohntry in 8 years. At most,he lays the foundation for a gradual change and hopes the next president continue from where he stops and this is still a rare scenario.

What we need is an authoritarian government that will rule indefinitely, such as in russia and north korea. Forget about the media propaganda this countries have thier own good side and is not hell on earth like the west want us to believe.

At least a president that can rule for more or less 20 years can a have a good vision will have enough time to implement it.
Of all the authoritarian governments you could have chosen you choose the 2 worst as an example. The neo-monarchy of NK and the dictatorship that dragged it's people into war with a non hostile neighbor.
I would much rather a Chinese, or Cuban style government, if we were ever going to be non democratic.

At least these governments have a positive goal for their people, and are doing a relatively good job given their constraints.

As much as I'm not a religious one, I notice that the growth of atheism is already fueling immorality among our youths as most no longer have reasons to remain humane(as they now know there's no heaven or hell), a recipe for societal crumbling

Because the immortality and deep corruption in Nigerian society and government was not caused by self proclaimed Muslims and Christians.

In conclusion, they are not educated.

Education makes you a problem solver.

Every good thing is a product of good. Intelligence is good and it has produce good things.
Right here is the difference between IQ and education.

Education is the solid amount of information and facts you know, from the Numbers and letters you learn in nursery school to the advanced theories you learn and memorize in Uni.

IQ is your capability to apply your knowledge and reasoning to create something new or solve a problem.

IQ is like the raw cognitive potential someone has, and unfortunately this is not something that's equal among everyone.
There's evidence suggesting environmental factors and (this is still a subject of dispute) genetic factors does stunt people's IQ.
Education alone will not improve someone's IQ.
Things that can stunt brain development and tank a person's or community's IQ are:
Being abused as a child.
Malnutrition.
Starvation.
Lack of access to good healthcare.
Exposure to toxins, like lead. etc.

With this you end up getting stunted people in your society, that are superstitious, impulsive, short sighted, and/or violent. Education can only have a minor effect on changing this, without the underlying issues being addressed.

You just saw it up here that the bible never supported slavery,

if a slave escapes do not return him. Deuteronomy 23:15

Leviticus 25:17 "Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God:"

Exodus 23:9 "Thou shalt not oppress a stranger:

Exodus 20:21 "Thou shalt neither vex a stranger nor oppress him:

Exodus 20:22 "ye shall not afflict ...a fatherless child".

Exodus 23:2 "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil:"

Exodus 23:6 "Thou shalt not wrest the judgement of thy poor in his cause"

Yet, you pretended as if you did not see it. See how prove you anti God people are evil pretencious folks?
I said "permissive" not "support" don't twist my words.

And are you going to honestly argue that the Bible didn't say the quoted scripture in the OP?

Things better bawo! So this is not slavery abi?

This is a different type of struggle fam, which is still bad, however ownership over another human is mostly outlawed around the world and very very few people will try to justify slavery today like they did in the past.

You can quit your Job and leave and no one is going to hunt you down like an animal and bring you back in chains. So yes things are slightly better.

It's like I'm pointing out it's good smallpox is a thing of the past and you're bringing up malaria exists, both are bad, but both are different diseases.

If you want to discuss the topic of proper compensation for work in this country I'm on board, I believe workers should unionize and demand better compensation. I'm all for worker rights.
Religion / Re: Biblical Verses Used By colonial masters To Enslaved Africans by IMAliyu(m): 8:33pm On Jun 21
It's interesting how we've mostly all come to the conclusion that slavery and ownership of another human is immoral now a days, inspite of the Quran and Bible being permissive of it.

And things are slightly better for it, compared to the needless human suffering because of slavery in the past.

Which I'll have to ask, Is Ukraine not a sovereign country that can choose what alliances they want?
What specifically about this, justifies starting a war over?

He believes that Nuclear will settles the war at most but he should remember that Nuclear war will never give him Peace with his neighbours, which they all needed most.
Putin should end this Unnecessary War he deliberately created because of Pride!

Putin has already stated that one of his goals is to restore the borders of the former Russian empire, which far exceeded the USSR.
The man can not be trusted to not be antagonistic to neighboring countries.
There's a reason most former USSR countries jumped at the opportunity to join NATO.

I hope he's humiliated, and loses power over his invasion of Ukraine, and Russia can have someone more sane leading it.
