Everyone wants to Japa for different reasons, some of us for job opportunities, better education, and a better quality of life, so their children do not have to be Nigerian too and to achieve that, a visa is necessary. After the SOP, the most important thing has to be Proof of Funds; the documents that prove your financial capacity to support your stay in a foreign country. The problem arises when you do not have as much as is required or you are waiting on someone that does not have the funds available as at the time determined by the embassy, thus, you turn towards POF agents, faceless people behind a screen promising to help you solve your needs and they ask you to pay the interest upfront and sometimes, they disappear with your money and disrupt your process. Here are some rules to prevent you from falling victim to scammers;
1) Do not pay upfront without duly signed letters and a commitment from the person you are talking to.
2) Schedule a video call with the agent to see their faces and if possible take a screenshot for reference purposes.
3) Ask for the company name and search online to confirm their details, if possible check on LinkedIn to see if they work with that company.
