GEJPosterity: I knew what I had achieved in life before I turned 20. I just turned 25 and I know where I am in life. I don't know why many Nigerians have a big problem understanding that just because they were still wearing nappies and rolling tyres at 17, that doesn't mean that other people didn't have the intelligence, foresight and ability to achieve great things at a young age.
These people are not hating on Iheanacho per se - they just hate looking at anyone who reminds them of their own uselessness and lack of success in life. Why won't they doubt his age when they see an 18 year-old from the same country as them who faced the same difficulties as them on the verge of breaking into the first team of one of the world's biggest clubs and becoming a global superstar?
They cannot deal with the reality - that they have underachieved in life and that all the excuses they create to make themselves feel better about their lack of achievement in life are all nonsense, and that other people are more intelligent and more capable than they are.
I faced similar boneheads when I came back to Nigeria to do my youth service. You would see 40-something year old civil servant earning N40,000/month as a 'Director' and feeling like he was a 'boss'. Then they saw me - a 23 year-old who attended the best schools in the world and had worked at the BBC and KPMG and was obviously ambitious and heading somewhere in life, and their stomach would start paining them. I know what I went through in that bush called Ekiti state.
Now I know where I am and what I'm doing and those people aren't even in my rear view mirror but everyday I still come across people who look at me like I cheated them of their money. They can't understand how come I have a fiancee. They can't understand how I have bought a brand new car from my own sweat while they're still managing their 2002 long Camry. They can't grasp how this young guy has the audacity to be so successful, that's the Nigerian mindset!
They cannot stand to see a successful young African who looks like them because it reminds them of what they have failed to achieve in life! They don't mind seeing a successful 18 year-old Brazilian or German. They don't even mind seeing Luke Shaw earning £100,000/week at Manchester United at 21 years of age, after all he is British. Let Mikel Obi earn £80,000/week at Chelsea and see the same people foaming at the mouth and hating his success.
I really hate this African mentality, this crabs-in-a-bucket mentality.
Why is it so difficult to see a young, successful Black man and just leave him alone or appreciate his success? Why must you hate on him? Does he owe you? a million likes my bro. THE CRABS - IN -THE -BUCKET MENTALITY I THE REAL REASON AFRICA IS STILL WERE IT IS. PLEASE IF YOU CANT PROOF THEY ARE CHEATS DONT POST, RESERVE YOUR COMMENTS. I think some of these people have a better shot making a name for themselves digging into this age cheating thing than accusations on Naira land. |

Business › Re: Xenophobia: MTN Nigeria Warns Of 6,000 Job Losses by imatalks: 6:55am On Apr 21, 2015 |
Adesiji77: MTN Nigeria on Monday warned that should there be attacks on its facilities, it might be forced to close shop and 99 per cent of its over 6,000 workforce in the country, who are Nigerians, would be thrown into the labour market.
It also said that calls for the boycott of its services were unjustified as such an action would affect its support chain, which could cause another 500,000 Nigerians to lose their means of livelihood.
The company stated this in Lagos some hours after two groups protested in its Abuja and Benin offices against the killing of foreigners in its home country, South Africa.
According to the Corporate Service Executive, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Wale Goodluck, there are only 12 expatriates working for the company in the country, compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians.
Goodluck said, “So, if people go ahead with their threats to attack our facilities, what that means is that we may be forced to close down the business in Nigeria and about 6,000 Nigerians that make up 99 per cent of our workforce will be unemployed.
“Then, when you look at our support chain, we have about 500,000 Nigerians gainfully employed. So, boycotting our services simply means destroying so many other Nigerian businesses and making over 500,000 other Nigerians to lose their jobs.
“This business supports a lot of businesses across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Many of the businesses that are affiliated to South Africa are in the retail space, supporting the growth of Nigeria and employing so many Nigerians.”
He noted that the company had spent in excess of $15bn on capital expenditure growing the telecommunications business in Nigeria.
“We see no revenge of Xenophobia and we commend the role the Nigerian High Commissioner in South Africa has played; at least there has been no fatality on the part of any Nigerian,” Goodluck added.

lalasticlala This is so poorly handled by Mr Wale..... is this what he should be saying to an angry mob? It sounds more like a threat more than a plea... very few persons would care about the employment of 6,000 or 500, 000 Indirectly sustained by mtn when there have lost a breadwinner to some sensless attacks. it sounds like a selfish threat because he wants to safe his job. if were president I would give S/A 48 hours ultimatum after which evacuate all Nigerians willing to come back and other their embassy to be shut down! this is What Mandiba would have done...remember south Africa `96 |

QuotaSystem: You're just an ignorant fool, who told you Taraba are hausa/fulani? Later your empty brain will call other people illiterates, clueless dolt. with all due respect... I think a lot of Nigerians are ignorant about other places in NIGERIA.... I wonder what our education system has done to some of us that we are more aware of the geography and people of western countries than parts of our own country....secondly like Obama and his gay rights, a lot of people outside taraba are more concerned about breaking history than what the majority want.... Jumai and Dickson are PDP by blood but the PDP candidate is prefered, for the greater good. just as okorocha and ihedioha are both the same thing. okorocha is preferred, if only be more sincere. I praise the people of Gombe who I think were the most matured in their voting. we prefer GMB for president, but dankwambo has done extremely well to deserve a second term even if he remained with the PDP. and GOJe should be rewarded with the senate seat for the role he played in making gombe the most developed state, while he was gov. |

Nigeria has predictable voting patterns, as all democratic countries do. Buhari can expect support from large swaths of the core north, and Jonathan from southern states. Region and religion are potent forces here. Vice presidents are carefully picked with these factors in mind: Buhari’s is a southwestern Christian and Jonathan’s is a northern Muslim. But it is not so simple. There are non-northerners who would ordinarily balk at voting for a ‘northerner’ but who support Buhari because he can presumably fight corruption. There are northern supporters of Jonathan who are not part of the region’s Christian minorities
I enjoyed every bit of this delicious piece.....but like most southerners she is an 'Americana' when it comes to the north. Christians in the North are'nt the minority (in number s) there have been defeated and subdued by divination, terror (jihad) and the love for money. And there's nearly any northerner who is not aware of the Genesis to Revelation of Book Haram. Infidel! Is no discription that anybody would like to be called...be he a deputy gov, president or vice president. I have chosen to be apolitical on election right from my days in El-Kanemi Hall when i discovered what politics truely is. Would I vote in this election? I don't have my card yet. Why? Because I had the feeling that going to my village/LGA was a high risk when INEC started distribution. Few days after the commencement my whole L.G.have been taking over by gunmen. Thank God it has been reclaimed by a gallant soldiers of the Nigerian Army with the aid of some hunters. Now the storm is over is my blood what worth the voting of any of these candidates? No! for the love of my country I shall try to vote. But will it count? That would'nt deter me. Can any politician be the answer to my wish for this country? No they can't..... Can you tell me one politician that kept his or her word? no...Jesus only is my confidant.... He alone can ensure that my good whatever the outcome of these election. I would rather pray for my help comes from the Lord. |

Amaechi. Cost analysis
Cost of Amaechi stadium N24 billion = $126,349,252.96 Cost of the whole complex N31 billion = $163,118,513.33
And compare to the world class Akwa Ibom Stadium Built by a world renouned expert julius berger.
Akwa Ibom Stadium cost = $96 million.
