Maj Gen Sibusiso Moyo read out a statement on national TV early on Wednesday
The military has seized control in Zimbabwe and has said President Robert Mugabe, in power since 1980, is safe.

After seizing state TV, an army spokesman announced it was targeting people close to Mr Mugabe who had caused "social and economic suffering".

Messages attributed to a ruling party Twitter account described the takeover as a "bloodless transition".

The move came after Mr Mugabe sacked his deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, in favour of his wife.

A statement read out by a general on air denied it was a coup and said Mr Mugabe was safe, but did not say where.

Heavy gun and artillery fire could be heard in northern parts of the capital Harare early on Wednesday.

There was no immediate word from Mr Mugabe himself.

Mr Mugabe, 93, has dominated the impoverished country's political scene since independence from the UK.

The UK Foreign Office advised Britons "currently in Harare to remain safely at home or in their accommodation until the situation becomes clearer", while the US embassy in Harare advised US citizens in Zimbabwe to "shelter in place" until further notice.

This post is about the ASUU Strike Looms Over NUPENCO as the Registration of the Nigerian University Pension Company NUPENCO was part of the agreement but the FG has not fulfilled it.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU may decide to shut down government-controlled universities after review its agreement with the Federal Government.
The union’s National Executive Council meets this week to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MoA) the government signed with them in September.

The government had agreed with the Union on the MoA before the last industrial action was suspended that it will implement its agreed contents before the end of October.

Registration of the Nigerian University Pension Company NUPENCO was part of the agreement which the government promised would be taken care of two weeks after the suspension of the strike.

Lives in Ilogbo, Oko Afo, a neighbouring community. The Senior Secondary School One pupil, Lawal, reportedly eloped with the boyfriend, identified simply as Akin, on October 22 and had yet to return home.

We learnt that a friend of the girl, known as Kemi, hooked her up with Akin, who is said to be an okada (motocycle) rider. Annually, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (TUCN): Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (Total E&P Nig Ltd) and Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), together with their venture partners, award scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in the tertiary institutions in the country.

The programme is aimed at promoting academic excellence and quality manpower development in the Country. This is one of the many ways TOTAL demonstrates its commitment to the educational development of Nigerian students. It is a part of NNPC/TOTAL’s rich Corporate Social Responsibility.

This scholarship scheme has been successfully carried out over the years. The 2017/2018 is due and this web portal is dedicated to receiving applications from eligible Nigerian undergraduates.
