Zarian5: This CAN President talks too much, he should go rest! Somebody should remind him that he is just a 'president' of an association and not the president of Nigeria! Whether he and his fellow christians like it or not THE MUSLIMS ARE THE MAJORITY IN NIGERIA! That was why Obasanjo's christian government deliberately dropped religious column in the 2006 census. OBJ was afraid, his fellow minority christians would revolt against him when the census figures presents Nigeria as 'a muslim-majority' nation that it is. However even with the 2006 census as it was, you can know who has the bigger population. Just add the figures of the muslim dominated states and compare with the sum of the figures obtained from the christian dominated states and see for yourself!!

This however has nt made Nigeria an islamic state. The minister should corect his statement.

My friend, even if they bring U.S security inteligence, they cnt have meaningful achivement without useful information. No security outfit can conquer terrorism without useful information on how to bring dis hoodlums to a halt. Boko haram started 2001 and up till 2009 were not involved in any form of violence. 8-9 years no violence - they were just preaching and drawing larging following from the poverty-stricken masses, and also had some kind of social welfare scheme. Now, why hav they turned to violence? Police and army are to blame. In 2009 Mohammed yusuf (late boko haram leader, killed by police)fell out with former Borno state governor(SAS) and SAS started using police to attack & kill large numbers of ertswhile peacefull BH with whom he had been hobnobbing for political gain. In responce, BH also acquired arms and the violence began. Most of BH attacks ar against security forces, which they see as avenging the killing of their members.They hav now added churhes as targets. Analysts believe that their aim is to provoke christians to start attacking muslims in retaliation so that we hav a full scale religious war in nigeria.It's clear from his Yuotube videos that Shekau (BH leader) is a hardliner & mayb also his lieutenants. But they can change. D country is now faced with d choice of either to use force or dialogue with BH. May God help nigeria out of this delicate situation.

It really appears as if every Muslim leader in this country, in whatever capacity, enjoys coming up with violent-prone policy that must heat up the polity. Probably this is a way of expressing solidarity to a religion they have so close to their hearts. Probably, there is an injunction that all Muslim leaders must leave an indelible mark in the polity for posterity to see their level  of dedication to Islam and then carry the spirit on.

If not, why should Sanusi copy other countries that are not as polarized as Nigeria even at this period when Boko Haram is decimating our population? For those that see nothing wrong about it, I pray that the violence that may erupt as a result should not affect them or any member of their families.
