I am writing to request the removal or correction of the Nairaland thread titled “Media Drama Won’t Replace Justice: Victims Call On Victor Giwa To Face His Trial” (posted November 18, 2026).

The thread contains numerous unverified allegations presented as factual assertions regarding myself and others, including claims of forgery, unlawful eviction, impersonation, and criminal enterprise, as well as descriptions of purported actions by unspecified “assistants” or “thugs,” which are highly defamatory in nature.

Basis for this Request

Defamation and False Statements
The post includes allegations of criminal conduct without any citation of verifiable public records, convictions, or judicial findings. Courts and common-law principles define defamation as the communication of false statements that harm reputation. Publishing allegations presented as fact — without verifiable judicial record links — exposes individuals to reputational harm and may place the platform at risk under applicable laws regulating defamatory content.

Violation of Platform Terms and Responsible Posting Standards
Nairaland’s own terms and community guidelines (including the general rule that “every Nairaland member is solely responsible for anything that he/she posts or uploads on Nairaland”) require users and hosts to ensure that statements posted do not unlawfully harm others. The Nigerian legal framework (including the Defamation Act and other applicable laws) also recognizes that unverified allegations of criminal wrongdoing must not be published as established fact.

Absence of Context or Verification
The thread fails to distinguish between allegations, claims, and proven facts and does not cite verified public records, empowering media reports, or judgments demonstrating the truth of those claims. For readers, this creates a misleading and harmful impression.

Requested Remedy

To prevent ongoing reputational damage and to comply with responsible content standards, I respectfully request one of the following:

Immediate removal of the thread, OR

Correction or closure of the thread, including a clear statement that:

The allegations discussed are unverified and not judicially established,

The thread does NOT represent official court orders, and

Nairaland does not endorse the assertions as factual.
