Hi everyone,

Can I get an idea of how the cost of live chickens and frozen chickens compare in different parts of the country. I am about to start a chicken processing business. Our plan is to buy live chicken, clean than and sell them as frozen chicken.

As always, all contributions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot. Very helpful.

Different birds with different sizes
Example
100 broilers will stay in a 12 by 16 ft size room to 12 wks
Same size of room will take 150 Cockrail
And for laying birds it can take 80 this is cos the stay longer between 12 to 18 months and they need ventilation for optimal performance and this is for deep litre practice caged birds use lesser space

You will have to get a bottle of cold water and 5kg of popcorn and get your phone or laptop fully charged, then go to page zero(0) and start reading from there am very sure there are loads of useful information in between those pages. I have done it before and trust me I am going to do it again (read it again). I saw this thread when it was on page 35 and I read through the whole pages. I will the pics.

My main interest is actually chicken processing, that is buying live chicken and selling frozen chicken. I have got my equipment and will start in January by God's grace. I will appreciate any general advice or input about the market. Has anyone here done something similar? Isit possible to work out chicken table weight from live weight? etc.

Thank You

Very possible
U will net to net the windows
Ventilation is very critical
Then no of birds to stock depends on room sizes
Thank you very much. That is very helpful. It's a standard two bedroom flat. How many birds will you stock in a square meter for example? I can then work it out.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your generosity and willingness to share your knowledge and experience here for people to learn from. I have a very simple quetsion: IS IT POSSIBLE TO START A SMALL POULTRY IN AN UNCOMPLETED STANDARD TWO BEDROOM FLAT? IT HAS BEEN DECKED AND DOORS AND WINDOWS CAN BE FIXED, IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH VENTILATION? HOW MANY BIRDS CAN I STOCK?

Thanking you in advance.
