The chief executive of Tonimas Oil and Gas Group and one of Nigeria’s richest oil magnates, Chief Anthony Enukeme, has died at the age of 75.

He died on Monday night, June 8, after a brief illness.

According to a family source, who spoke with The Nation, the deceased used to travel overseas every year for routine health checks but was unable to travel this year due to the pandemic, and this resulted to him falling ill.

However, Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication said Danga’s refusal to resign won’t affect the integrity of the investigation.

He said, “His being in office will have no impact on the integrity of the investigations. We trust the police to do a thorough job. But you will agree with me that it will be unfair to punish anyone who has not been found guilty.”

The Supreme Court, on Friday, invalidated the judgment that indicted and condemned the previous legislative head of Abia State, Orji Uzor-Kalu, to 12 years detainment.

The apex court, in a consistent choice by a seven-man board of Justices drove by Justice Amina Augie, held that the Federal High Court in Lagos acted without purview when it sentenced Kalu, his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and previous Director of Finance in Abia State, Jones Udeogu.

It held that preliminary Justice, Mohammed Liman, was not, at this point an appointed authority of the Federal High Court as at the time he sat and conveyed the judgment that sentenced the respondents for supposedly taking about N7.1billion from Abia state treasury.

As per the Supreme Court, Justice Liman, having been raised to the Court of Appeal before then, came up short on the forces to come back to sit as a High Court Judge.

It held that the Fiat that was given to him by the Court of Appeal President pursuant to section 396(7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act was unconstitutional.

Thus, the apex court abandoned the judgment that indicted the litigants and requested new preliminary of the respondents.
