The Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finace , Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala revealed Monday that her
mother, Prof Kamene Okonjo was kidnapped by those who claimed their fuel subsidy payments were blocked and the non-release of SURE-P funds.

She said her mother was neither given food nor water during her kidnap.

Professor Kamene Titi Okonjo, the 82-year-old retired professor of Sociology at the University of Nigeria, UNN, Nsukka, was released six days after a 10-man gang seized her from her home at Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

Most anencephalic babies do not survive birth, accounting for 55% of non-aborted cases. If the infant is not stillborn, then he or she will usually die within a
few hours or days after birth from cardiorespiratory arrest.

Kaduna – Alhaji Mukhtar Yero was on Sunday sworn-in as the new Governor of Kaduna State by the state Chief Judge, Justice Rahila Cudjo.

The ceremony conducted at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna was witnessed by members of the state Executive Council, government officials and traditional rulers.

Yero replaced Gov. Patrick Yakowa who died in a helicopter crash on Saturday in Bayelsa.

In his acceptance speech, the governor pledged to continue with the transformation agenda laid by his predecessor.

“I sincerely desire to build on the good foundation that my boss had laid,’’ he said, adding that he would ‘’secure, unite and develop the state’’.

He paid tribute to Yakowa for his outstanding contributions to the development of the state and humanity.

Lagos state police have arrested an okada rider by name Igali for stabbing a landlady’s son, Demola Talabi, to death.

Igali allegedly used a screw driver to stab Talabi on the neck and other parts of his body.The victim slumped and died due to excessive bleeding.

The 42-year old Talabi from Ogun State and married with two kids, was said to be trying to mediate in an argument between Igali and a passenger over N50.

According to Talabi’s younger brother, Ayo, the incident occurred at Osho Street, Opebi and they (members of his family) were contacted. Before he got to the scene, his brother had died due to excessive bleeding.

The body has been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for autopsy report.A witness told P.M.NEWS that the late Talabi was on a visit to his mother’s house at 14, Irewole Street, Opebi, when he met the okada man and a passenger arguing over N50 fare.

He was said to be trying to settle the matter when Igali brought out a screw driver and stabbed him several times.The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ikeja Police Station.

When P.M.NEWS visited the station, the suspect was in the cell.The DPO was said to be in a meeting when our reporter sought to speak with him.

Police sources confirmed that the matter would soon be transferred to the SCID, Panti, Yaba.At her mother’s residence in Irewole Street, sympathisers were consoling the bereaved mother and Talabi’s wife.Residents expressed shock over Talabi’s death and described him as a hard working man.

IT was a shocking story to the parents and neighbours of an 11 year old girl and pupil of Ikorenim Primary School in Calabar, Cross River State, Ekamen Asuquo, when a pregnancy test that was conducted on her at the General Hospital, Calabar revealed that she was carrying a four-month pregnancy.

The mother of the primary five pupil, who resides at 2, Pipeline Road, Ikorenim had suspected pregnancy, going by the symptoms exhibited by the teenage girl, who was sick for a while as she decided to take her to the hospital after she failed to get well, despite long period of self medication.

The mother was rattled when it was discovered that the girl was pregnant after some tests.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “She has been at home for the past two months always complaining of one ailment or the other and the mother had to take her to the General Hospital after home medication could not heal her in the hope that she could be treated there.”

The neighbour, said when the teenage girl was confronted by her mother, who allegedly sells hot drinks and illicit drugs over who was responsible for the pregnancy, she mentioned one Tony, one of the boys that patronises her mother’s hot drinking joint.

However, the source hinted that when Tony was confronted, he said “He was the one who dated the teenage girl first but another customer, Jones snatched her from him and when Jones was confronted, he said he had since stopped dating the girl and mentioned another person, who when also confronted, mentioned another boy and at the last count, the number was five.”

It was gathered that the mother was infuriated when her daughter confirmed that she slept with all the boys mentioned and could not actually tell who was responsible. It was also gathered that two of the boys mentioned were tenants living in the woman’s house.

Out of annoyance, “She has since asked the two young men living in her house to quit but they are asking for time to secure another accommodation before they can vacate the house.”

When the distraught mother was asked what she was going to do with the daughter’s predicament, tears rolled down her cheek, as she said “I leave everything to God.

Prof. Kamene Okonjo, the mother of Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been freed by kidnappers.
Okonjo, 82, was abducted five days ago.

Special Adviser (Media) to Okonjo-Iweala, Paul Nwabuikwu, confirmed this development in a statement.

The statement by Nwabuikwu reads in full: “I can confirm that Professor Mrs Kamene Okonjo, wife of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Professor Chukuka Okonjo, and mother of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy/Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was released this morning, five days after her abduction.
“The Okonjo Family is full of thanks to the Almighty for this happy development.
“The family is also highly appreciative of the support and encouragement of President Goodluck Jonathan; the country’s security services for their excellent operations; Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, Peter Obi of Anambra, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and other Governors as well other friends and well-wishers within and outside government for their prayers and encouragement during a very difficult period. “
Okonjo was kidnapped on Sunday night by eight gunmen at the palace of Prof. Chukuka Okonjo.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Wednesday morning, arrested Aminu Lamido, eldest son of the Jigawa State Governor, Alh. Sule Lamido over money laundering allegations.

For the first time the National Law and Drug Enforcement Agency, NDLEA will appoint ambassadors, it has chosen the Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus and music act, Lamboginny real names Yinka Lawanson.

The duo were officially unveiled as the new ambassadors at the NDLEA headquarters in Lagos on Monday 10th December, 2012. Director General of the agency, Dr. Femi Ajayi, said Stella and Lamboginny were selected for the honour due to their outstanding positive impacts on youths and the society at large. Lamboginny’s Say No To Crime project, he said, was worthy of emulation while Stella has been inspiring the youths through her many activities and projects.

Gunmen on Sunday kidnapped the mother , Prof Okonjo-Iweala who is the minister of finance in Ogwahi-Uku, Delta State Asaba

Okonjo-Iweala’s mother who is the wife of His Majesty, Professor Chukwuka Aninshi Okonjo Agbogidi, the reigning Obi of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom was kidnapped Sunday at about 1:30 pm from the husband’s palace at Ogbe-Ofu quarters in Ogwahi-Uku by eight gunmen who entered the palace with two Audi cars.

It could not be concluded if security men were at the palace when she was abducted.

Delta State police public relations officer, [PPRO],in the name of Mr. Charles Muka in his reaction said “YES”, we (police) have gotten the information on the kidnap and we have also got information that will lead to the arrest of the kidnappers”.

An eye witness who pleaded anonymity stressed that the woman[OKONJO IWEALA’S MOTHER] who is a trained medical doctor and a professor was pushed into one of the Audi cars and driven to an unknown destination.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said security agents have been drafted to the palace for fear of the unknown.

A senior police officer in the State who also pleaded anonymity however said that massive search has commenced to rescue the Queen of Ogwashi-Uku.

Which part of your body do you like most?
There are certain things God blessed with that make me to feel like a real woman. They are my boobs and my face. I am not saying that anybody who is flat chested is bad, the person still looks good. But if I dress, i will first admire myself before the mirror, I always thank God for making me a complete woman.
Like something you know many are paying to have, I have it naturally. And I thank God the way he made me. I am very grateful, I cannot ask for more.
Like how much can you insure these places you like most?
Money cannot be enough when it comes to those areas. I don’t pray for anything to happen to these places. I am ok the way I am.
Are you comfortable with the kind of movies that are coming out of Nollywood?
I am not comfortable at all. Though there are some good movies, the fact remains that Nollywood needs to step up its game in the area of production. Because, majority still need amendments here and there. I want the industry to produce quality movies . I want them to come out with something more challenging.
