I love this

Still without my masters degree.....
I own a small scale business of my own....
Not that i am proud but rather i am thankful to god and all that supported my dream.....
But i have always wondered what it would feel like to have a country i am proud of, a country i can be
so bold to tell the world i am from and everyone would love to get to know me more.....
On the 29th of December 2019, i was looking online to find out what peoples’ new year resolution for
2020 was going to be like, but to my surprise i did not find any, or maybe it was not loud enough and
got lost in the wind.
So i started making up my own new year resolution list of what i wanted in 2020.........
As much as i love life, i love to see people happy too.
My people on the other hand are not happy contrary to what we are lead to believe.
People are afraid of speaking up and some don't even have a means to, and the last are the minorities
that do but are simply ignored....
Hence it became clear to me what i wanted for my new year resolution.....
As much as i love my country i would love to have a country where:
I. One can travel for hours without potholes
(i usually don't feel like doing anything for the next 30mins after such ride. I get tired of being tired)
Ii. There are more alternating roads to ones destination.
(i honestly think importation of cars should be stoped if we know we don't have the roads for them.
Spending hours on congested roads is punishment enough)
Iii. One can plan to get from point a to b and actually get there on time at anytime of the day.
(its not okay if you get to work at 5am when office time is 8am simply because you want to bit a traffic of
30mins drive)
Iv. Their should be a body or authority one can report to and get quick response on complains within
any department in any state.
( i witnessed a bus ran over someone and i felt helpless simply because i did not know who to call and
report the bus driver to)
V. Our tax translates to better life for ALL and not few
(no comments)
Vi. Foreigners would line up at our embassies world wild to get visa
(this is something that can be done, look at UAE (Dubai) it use to be a desert)
MY 2020 RESOLUTION
Vii. It would be nice if the world ritual/ human sacrifice becomes abolished....
(you cant spill innocent blood and expect a peaceful atmosphere)
Viii. Masses are being represented as it should be in all arms of power, and swift actions are taking to
remove mass phobia.
Ix. Equal rights are given to every states as regards national liberty to provisions from the government.
(every state has its own challenges and more can be done to assist all other states struggling only when
more states have developed to their full potentials)the more the merrier. We should be learning from one
another not fighting each other.

As for the members of high sit representing their states
X. Representative should spend more time in their states rather than in Abuja.
(how can you represent people you are not staying with? Or dose Abuja representative come and stay in
your state?)
Xi. Representative should be made to travel to the capital using all the same means as everybody (by
road and air).
( the people might just be saying nonsense but there is sense in non sense. Your voice is a voice of a million
people so use it well)
Xii. They should enjoy all the privileges other Nigerians are enjoying
(hospitals, schools, roads, etc.... It is very possible if only we can think big)
Xiii. The salary should be moderate so as to cut down on the extravagant lifestyle.
Then they can be rewarded based on merit with 300m, 500m, or even a billion or less AFTER their
services to the country as a retirement package.....
(this can happen only when Nigeria is ready for greatness)

Ixx. Listen more.....
Xx.You should always remember that you are but small reflection of a larger population hence portray
us better....
( simply to say lead by example)
Xxi. When people complain, have a body that would genuinely listen to their complains and act as an
intermediary between the people and the government.
( oh! I think those are called representative leaving in estates in abuja and unreachable when needed.)
Xxii. There should be more public awareness on regulations, laws and organisations to reach when in
need of certain assistance or guide.
( since there are no more public directories like back in the days)
Xxiii. The standard of living of the people should be increased without necessary increase in salary.....
(i look forward to a time when n1 would equal $1 in 2020)
Xxiv. I have heard of deflation but i would love to see it in 2020
Xxv. Something needs to be done and done fast about DATA providers. IT is unfortunate that some people
use it for wrong reasons but that does not mean it was created for such or that every one else does. We
need development fast and now, what better way to build that than to shape the mind of the people.....
Internet is a good development that should be welcomed, embraced and made AFFORDABLE to every
Nigerian citizen. It is becoming very expensive to get educated even online......
Please help us make this possible for the love of innovations.

Xxvi. Never keep quiet and allow evil or bad to go unpunished or checked. If it happens to your
neighbour today and you did nothing about it, soon when it happens to you there would be no neighbour
to hear your cry.

Xxvii. When ever you complain please complain with sense.
(have at least an idea of a solution to your immediate complain)
Xxviii. Please pay contractors so that they can pay labourers. So many labourers are under paid because
contractors have to manage what they get.......
(no one is speaking for them so i am saying something)

We are a proud race, and we deeply love our nation. This is why so many of us are hoping and working
towards a better Nigeria....

There is no country in the world today that is not corrupt...... (Saudi, Israel, Germany, USA, Russia, UK, Ghana, Sudan, Egypt .......)

And America (USA) is on the top of the list..... Because They do theirs with guns..... They come in The name of peace and stay in The name of order and stability....
Look at all The countries America had helped to destroy.....

But that aside....

Do you see an American coming to Nigeria to look for work despite all the corruption.....? NO!!!

Do you see an American saving his or her looted funds in Nigeria NO!!

Do you see an American recruit *incompetent* people for The job simply because he is my brother, she my girlfriend, his my uncles friend son..... The list is long.... NO!!!

SO OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IS NOT CORRUPTION,
OUR GREATEST AND PERHAPS ONLY PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY IS

We want to be developed like the western world's but we not ready to do exactly what it takes to get there.......
Imagine you putting some one that sees the western world only in The TV in their house in charge of development....

Even someone who lived their is not capable... Why

It takes some one with a medical skill to perform am operation...
So we don't just assume because he works in the hospital as a cleaner or receptionist that he or she is capable of carrying out an operation..... BIG NO NO!!!

If I lied, have we done anything different from what I have said.......

If not then our problem is as I stated earlier *STUPIDITY*........

Do you know fuel sells more than rice, beans, cocoa, and many other food stuffs in Nigeria?
Do you know that generators consumption of fuel in Nigeria is the most in the world......
Can you even imagine The amount of generators out there on sale?
Can you imagine how many THOUSANDS of people have to import generator for The whole of Nigeria...
( I would guess only 10 to 20 importers if not less)

How many of this generator is MADE IN NIGERIA
How many homes use generator in Nigeria....
Imagine how we are forced by NEPA and NNPC to enrich other countries while we remain in poverty and darkness....

Imagine what would happen if the government put a ban on the sell, use, and importation of generators.....

Your answer is as good as mine......

I am simply saying that this generator issue is also part of our NEPA problem....
Even NEPA patronize them......

I don't know what direction we heading anymore.....
Some people have made it their life ambition to sabotage this great country NIGERIA.
NEPA is on the top of that list..... When it comes to NEPA in Nigeria, it's nothing good to write home about.
1. You don't get electricity but you must pay your bills
2. You get bills of 7k in a flat, that is simply outrageous.... (where is the light?)
3. Complain to NEPA, they would say write application and we would look into it. (case close)
4. Okay please give us prepaid meters (we are yet to distribute it to your area) but sir you are not yet to distribute the bills BECAUSE WE GET IT EVERY MONTH WITHOUT DELAY.. And refusal to pay any month, you would send thugs in uniform to cut off the little supply of electricity we have left ..... (so NEPA has enough resources to collect money, but not enough to install our meters..)
WHO ARE WE DECEIVING

It's easy to take money for the services they have not yet rendered than to actually perform the services that THEY (NEPA) HAVE BEEN APPOINTED FOR which would help elevate NIGERIANS from poverty.....!!!

We talking about production and economy reformation and we forget that without light, this is close to OR intact fact IMPOSSIBLE.......

Look at all the countries that transcended to first world from Third World, they ALL made sure electricity was always available to their people so as to foster their growth....

But NIGERIA case is the reverse.... REVERSE.... almost everything about us is in that order....
Our best minds are in other countries,
Our rich men invest in other countries,
Our best university is not affordable to people who actually want to get educated,
We let our old road turn to dust due to lack of repairs and start building new ones..... (who told you NIGERIA is not beautiful?)
A law that protects the rich and punishes the poor.
A system that denies you the right to fight a wrong.....
And to cap it all


A COUNTRY WHERE YOUR HEAD OF NEPA or DISCO, HAS A GENERATOR IN HIS/HER HOUSE AND OFFICE WHICH RUNS EVERYDAY......

(NEPA GUY TOLD ME THEY ALSO RUN GENERATOR DAILY.... I was speechless and I could not even complain anymore....)

Though we charge a standard starting price of 30k for logo, but you need to see the reaction on people's face......
And tell ones that beg the most are the ones that would cost you the most, you would wish you had charged triple....

Graphics is as wild as it comes........

Everyone at one point or the other would need a designer......

But I believe you attract what you present..... If you present your work cheap, you would attract cheap clients.. Because they would tell each other... .....

If you believe you can do it, then charge for it, else leave it to The professionals....

1. what is graphics design:
Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving using one or more of typography, photography and illustration. The field is considered a subset of visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term "graphic design" is used synonymously.(by google).

in my own terms ( trying to communicate to people without being there in person or without any phone)
now that is a problem!!!. how can you talk to people without actually being there or on a phone? that is where graphics design comes in......

( a well communicated design would surely get the intended message out)
e.g. no smoking sign, one way, female and male toilet, chairman office, street sign..... and so on
graphics design is everywhere and it has been in existence since the early cave men......


2. who is a graphics designer?

a professional within the graphic design and graphic arts industry who assembles together images, typography, or motion graphics to create a piece of design. (google)

in my terms: a graphics designer is a problem solver.......
what problem you ask? communication between A and B without the presence of one or the other......
a graphics designer is mostly used when trying to bridge the gap between two people either known or unknown......

so that brings us to the QUESTION, who needs a graphics designer?
answer: EVERYBODY who intends to communicate to others in absence but without the skill set of a graphics artist.....



3. GRAPHICS TOOLS:

most times you would here people talk about software when ever this topic is mentioned.... but that is not your first priority. as a graphics designer your tools should be as prioritized as in this order:

1. sketch pad and you computer
2. knowledge (on how to design)
3. software ( Photo Shop, Corel Draw, MS WORLD, ADOBE READER)
4. internet service

some of you are thinking why not knowledge first....
but think about it, if you do not have a computer, you would not be able to access this information right now, and if yo were to read it in a book, you would still need your sketch pad to note down what you need......

information is power. there is no such thing as a gifted graphics artist, they all undergo process of knowledge gathering and critical brain storming. they all started with the intention you have now, which is to know what to do so as to pass out effective communication through visually. knowing what to do and how to do it is a very important process in graphics designing......(you could go for tuition)

software is the replacement of knowing how to craft.....
these days you don't need to know how to draw a perfect circle or a straight line to become a graphics artist.... knowing how to draw is good but with the help of software, it is really not a criteria anymore......
there are some great graphic artist of these era that are not good at drawing too. just as long as you can sketch it out on your pad, you can create it on your computer with the help of your software......
(you should try to know how to draw letter on in your profession because it really helps)

as an artist, you need some time to think but you also need to know what is trending in the world of designing......
it is important to stay connected and go online to find out about the new trend, so that you would not be let behind.....



4. HOW TO MEASURE YOUR GROWTH?


you need to set a standard for yourself or else you would wind up like most road side business center graphics person....(knowing the tool but not the skills)
so what standard is the right standard?
1. as a student of art, you should have a role model you look up to.....
some one you want to be like some day, or perhaps be better than....
2. let your close friends be the judge of your work and try to get an honest feed back and know how people view your work...
3. you can also sort out graphics artist and let them give you a honest pointers on your work...
4. there are portals online that you can join to challenge yourself in projects to find out if you can compete with the best of the best around the world......(don't feel too bad if you don't get selected, it just means you still have more work to do.......

5. WHAT I SHOULD CHARGE FOR MY DESIGN!!!

1 MILLION, 300K, 50K, 10K...... How much do you really think your service is worth
it boils down to two things..... YOU , THE CLIENT.

ABOUT YOU:
think of the hours you spent learning your craft,
the money you spent learning your craft,
the fun you missed out on simply because you wanted to be better....
remember these criteria apply to all profession ( doctor, lawyer, artist, mechanic, dentist......e.t.c.)
but still they all dont charge the same amount simply because they all put in different time, effort and money to learn there craft......

so if you are very good but charge very low, then you must have done something less than the other person charging higher than you do.....
but with that aside, as a good artist you should try to know your worth even if you did not spend as much money in learning your craft......
because if you do not know your worth, people would not believe its your work........

take a survey and find out what you doing wrong that makes you feel like you deserve less than the next guy and fix it....... but if you cant, just be the best you can at what you do and someday you might get your own breakthrough.

ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS:
but remember if you charge cheap, you would only attract cheap customers and that would speak bad of you to those that are looking for something exceptional.
who your client is matters a lot.....
is it the " i just need something quick"
or the " i would like you to create"
trust me guys they are both saying the same thing but with different meaning.....
quick is cheap, creating is art and art is not cheap....

so you need to know what the customer really wants from you which would also in a way affect the way you charge them.....
think of the work load they expect from you.
the quality of service they expect from you.
the time and energy they want you to put into the work....
these added up should give you an idea of who you dealing with.



6. PUBLICITY:

Nice work, but we are also into graphics and much more like
Branding, website, and animation......
Even printing anything .....
As in a complete promotional package anyone need, I. E. promotion in general...
But people out here don't want class, they want cheap....
