February 14, also known as Valentine's Day, is a Christian and commercial holiday. The story goes that back in the late 100s AD, Saint Valentine was imprisoned for performing illegal weddings for those persecuted by the Roman Empire. It was not until the 15th century that people in love celebrated the holiday by giving one another flowers and cards, or "Valentines."

One in three women on the planet will be raped or beaten during her lifetime. The odds are staggering as the probability of it happening is Today ; Valentines day.

A few ways to avoid being raped or assaulted during this day.


No matter what it is, drink less and drink. It could be a new brand of fruit juice you have never tasted before or it could be some sort of foreign cake you have never eaten before, constrain yourself.
Most cases of rape and assault begin once the victim is no longer in their right frame of mind, due to consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating products, basically it boiled down to hiding the taste and smell of alcohol in fruity drinks and stuff and that if you mixed it right then the girl would never suspect that she was drinking alcohol.


Wearing revealing clothing makes you a target for harassment. Men always want sex and will do whatever they have to in order to get it.
The above notion is wrong, even Alhaja's that cover their whole body get raped. Various things turn Rapists on, and one can never know because in most rape cases the victim knows the rapists.
No matter where you are today, ensure its a public place. Avoid going to special enclosed clubs,parties or even his house.

To prevent sexual abuse and sexual violence against children, understanding the minds of the sex offenders is of utmost importance.
Understanding the behavior was not excusing it. But, if you can understand “the why”, then maybe you can start to find a solution.

“If you show empathy for a rapist, it is not the same as showing empathy for their act,” the men that participated in this private study were all “severely damaged human beings”, and it’s for this reason that they did what they did. They feel no empathy or remorse because they don’t know how but were pleased that we finally listened to them without criticizing nor judging them for their acts.

It was also learnt that rape is not about sex, rape was about power, and that all the men she interviewed had experienced high levels of anger before committing the rapes. “Rape is between the ears, not between the legs – they will find a way to manifest their anger,” remember the Exxon Mobil worker who his tenant failed on several occasions to make his rent? , he must have been filled with rage and he took that rage and focused it on his tenants daughter.

In not so recent times, the university embarked on the rehabilitation of their sports arena and to my utmost surprise the contracts were awarded to foreign companies to develop a swimming pool which to me is basically a glorified ''suckaway'' or sewage cube/cuboid.
So the question is thus; if a school that has a departments for structures and construction such as civil engineering can not recruit their alumnus firms and award them this contract , do they expect the government to call on their alumni, if the university that awarded them their certificates doesnt even call them.

It means they must have been teaching them nothing for they know that awarding an alumni firm this project is tantamount to failure.

And also means their lecturers do not have practicing firms like in other developed countries that can execute such projects because their busy stressing students by awarding them D's and F's since thats the only thing their good at.

Number 2

If we took a statistically ratio of the number of students that are actually utilizing the knowledge they learnt from university in their career and used it as a measure to determine the best university in Nigeria, i wouldnt be surprised to see Private universities on top.

For example; if 1000 people enrolled in a university to learn a skill such as engineering and after graduation on 50 of them are pratising engineering while the rest are in the music or banking industry thats a giant F to the institution which is the case in OAU. A university should be able to effectively transcend all the 1000 students into engineers since they can collect Engineering school fees from them, they should also teach them effectively the skill.

Not measuring them with grades and Classes of degree.

Haven't you read enough stories about men raping; some will say because he is poor yet we heard about an employee of exxon mobil, others might say because he has no power and yet again we have heard about pastors and religious leaders.

Haven't you ever wondered how Rapist think, what motivates them to do such acts?
Haven't you ever concluded that maybe its his wife fault, for not serving herself to him on a dialy?
Or maybe its the parents fault for not being skeptical about the people their children move with especially the adults.

Lets solve this issue or atleast come up with possible solutions because your Husband or son or brother inlaw, even your father might be the next rapist we read about on nairaland or lindas blog or bella naija or even worse your child might be the next one raped. (I bet everyone is forming Godforbid just like many pastors wives did)
