EducationRe: A Secondary School Gave Students Weird Hairstyles (Photos) by Insipidvamp(m): 10:20pm On Jul 14
[quote author=shiwex post=140022168]I find it deeply concerning that a secondary school would discipline students by shaving an "X" shape into their hair. Such a practice can be humiliating and may have a negative impact on a child's self-esteem. While schools have a responsibility to enforce discipline and maintain standards, disciplinary measures should be reasonable, respectful, and focused on correcting behaviour rather than embarrassing students.
In my view, there are many more appropriate ways to address misconduct, such as counselling, detention, community service within the school, parental involvement, or other educational sanctions. Publicly marking students with unusual hairstyles risks causing unnecessary distress and ridicule from their peers.
Parents have a right to question the school's actions and seek clarification on the disciplinary policies that permitted such treatment. If they believe the school acted improperly or violated students' rights, they may wish to pursue the matter through formal complaints procedures and, where appropriate, obtain legal advice regarding their options.
Schools should aim to discipline students in a manner that preserves their dignity and promotes positive behavioural change, rather than using measures that could be perceived as degrading or humiliating. students do have legal rights, although schools also have authority to enforce discipline.
Some of the key rights that may be relevant are:

Right to dignity and respect – The Nigerian Constitution guarantees the right to the dignity of the human person, and the Child Rights Act also recognizes a child's right to dignity. Disciplinary measures that humiliate, degrade, or publicly shame students could potentially be challenged on this basis. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng]

Protection from abuse and harmful treatment – The Child Rights Act seeks to protect children from physical and psychological abuse, exploitation, and other harmful practices. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [awjai.org]

Right to education – Students have a right to receive education in a safe environment. Schools are expected to maintain discipline while respecting students' welfare and rights. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [awjai.org]

Freedom from discrimination – Children are entitled to protection from discrimination and unfair treatment. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng]

Regarding the specific issue of shaving an "X" into students' hair, whether it is illegal would depend on the circumstances, the school's rules, parental consent, and whether a court or regulatory body considers the action degrading or abusive. Merely being a military-style school does not automatically give it unlimited authority over students' appearance. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng]
Parents who are concerned could:

Request an explanation from the school.
Review the school's disciplinary policy.
Submit a formal complaint to the school authorities.
Escalate the matter to the State Ministry of Education or relevant education board.
Seek independent legal advice if they believe their child's rights were violated.

From a personal perspective, many people would argue that marking a child with a distinctive hairstyle as punishment is unnecessarily humiliating and that more constructive disciplinary measures could achieve the same objective without causing embarrassment. Whether it amounts to a legal violation, however, would ultimately depend on the specific facts and applicable law.

All this epistle wouldn't have mattered if the belligerent students had just follow simple rules

It is evident beyond reasonable doubt that the hardliners who are hell bent in holding the world into ransom are foolishly and audaciously trying to go rampage and carnage as well become a hard nut to crack beyond the shores of Iranian leadership through the democratic elected leaders. Apparently, They are toeing the the parth and instructions from Ayatollah Khameini jrn but let it be told unequivocally that they will met their waterloo very soon the day of reckoning is obviously knocking. Conversely, because Iran is already becoming a rogue and a failed state with two emerging powers, how is taking Omani route on the Hormuz your business? Most ships avoid Iranian water space in the Hormuz because of their problems but still yet some rogue psychopaths are hell bent in burning and causing eclipse to the economy activities of the world. We are watching... him who prays for rain without an an umbrella should not blame it when it beats him.

They were on their own before Trump and Yahoo attacked. Iran is standing up to a bully. They aren't your ancestors who were easily enslaved.
RomanceRe: Victor & Diane Patterson: Nigerian Man Takes Wife's Late Husband's Surname by Insipidvamp(m): 9:22pm On Jul 11
[quote author=AngelSlay post=139996426]Funny how everyone suddenly becomes a relationship expert once inheritance enters the conversation.

If Diane had married a younger man from her own country, many people would probably call it "finding love again." But because it's a Nigerian man, the default assumption becomes, "He must be after the money."

Unless there's concrete evidence of fraud or manipulation, two consenting adults have every right to choose who they love, how they live, and even what surname they use. Victor taking Diane's surname may seem unusual, but that's a personal decision between a married couple—not a crime.

As for the will, it's Diane's estate and her legal right to decide how it's is distributed. People are free to disagree with her choices, but that doesn't automatically make her husband a gold digger.

Families often become protective when money is involved, and sometimes their concerns are genuine. But it's equally true that inheritance disputes have torn apart many families long before an outsider entered the picture.

At the end of the day, the courts can determine the legality of any will. The rest of us should be careful not to convict people based on assumptions, stereotypes, or the nationality of the person they married.

Agreed with all your points, you have however failed to address the most disgusting issue here. What's up with Victor taking up the late husband's surname?

[quote author=CanadaOrBust post=139674322]You must be kidding. How come other countries are fine without one-child rule? So many things they could have done - education, birth control, etc, but like typical totalitarian regime, CCP chose a draconian measure. So many families were put through hell because they secretly had two children. So many female children were aborted

China's population issues precede modern western democracy, I hope you know that. In the 90s, China was one-fifth i.e 1.1 million of the 5.5 million persons in the world.

[quote author=CanadaOrBust post=139669443]At least US never instituted a one-child rule. That's the disadvantage of having a totalitarian government that can do anything it wants.

What do you think China should have done to combat their population issues. Besides instituted massive killings, wars and hoping on natural disasters to wipe off a large chunk of the population. If China had done any of these, peepz ll still label them all sorts. I think the US is already fearing and gearing for the worst.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans Celebrate Arsenal's Champions League Loss by Insipidvamp(m): 4:51pm On May 31
[quote author=kanmie post=139573604]Rooney 🗣️ “I’ll be completely honest, Arsenal were absolutely robbed tonight, there is no other way to put it. You look at that foul on Noni Madueke in the box; it’s a stonewall, 100% clear penalty. How the referee or VAR hasn't given that is beyond me, and it completely changes the dynamic of a Champions League final.

But for me, the moment that truly gave it away the moment you knew exactly what the referee was doing was that halftime whistle. To blow the whistle right as Arsenal are literally standing there about to take a corner? I’ve played this game a long time, and you rarely see that unless there’s a blatant bias. It was shocking, and it set the tone for everything that followed.

In the second half, it became a totally different game, and not because of the football. The referee made absolutely sure that every single 50/50 call, every little nudge, and every major decision went straight to PSG. It completely killed Arsenal’s momentum. But to be fair, I’m not even surprised. We saw the exact same story when they played Bayern Munich earlier in the tournament. The officiating was heavily skewed then, and it’s happened again on the biggest stage.

PSG might be lifting the trophy, but they cannot honestly look at themselves in the mirror and be proud of the way they’ve won this final. To win the biggest prize in club football like that? It leaves a horrible taste. Arsenal deserved so much more tonight.”

Oga leave epistle, 25% possession in any match is shambolic. Your bus was shattered. If Arsenal had played football, we could have enjoyed a classic 5,6 goal thrilling final.
