Please can you advise on the process for Critical skills permit?

I am an IT professional (NQF cool, currently doing Masters in KZN, Should finish this semester. I have been attending interviews here and a couple of HR in coys have requested that I start processing my critical skills permit as it would ease my job applications.

I wanna start this process asap, but I have a couple of questions.
1. how easy it is to switch from study permit to work permit.
2. Do i need to be a registered member of a professional body (IITPSA) to process critical skills visa?
3. Can anyone give an estimate of how much I could be spending for the process?

Hi,

CSV applications within RSA are pretty-straightforward. I will delve straight away into your questions:
1. To switch from Study Permits to CSV would be "Change of Status/Change of Conditions:
2. Yes, it's compulsory to show evidence of registration to a Professional body in your application. Even if it's Student member.
3.Quotes? Obtain info about membership registration from the professional body, also factor in VISA application costs at VFS, Medicals etc.

Here's link from VFS for documents required:
http://www.vfsglobal.com/dha/southafrica/critical-skills-visa.html

One important factor you must know is, have all your documents in order, all must be genuine and verifiable( They do extensive verification on CSV) so as not to waste your money and time.
BUT, the good news is that the CSV applications enjoy fast processing, it WILL come back within 6 weeks. In some cases, within 7-10 days you get an outcome.

The rest of the forum members who has been through this process will guide you.
All the best!

Pm me sir

For the second time, i need to give thanks where thanks is due. Some weeks back, i posted a query asking for anyone coming into RSA to assist me bring some stuff for my brother's wedding. In an era where trust is a big issue amonsgst Nigerians, especially a faceless, nameless individual like me.

The forum member "Holluwai"assisted me. He brought the items, and strangely, this member turns out to be -like a friend to my younger brother getting married in the first place? And now i have gained a brother via this forum.

This shows that Nigerians, we can use online-medium for good things as well instead of all these negative stereotypes

Thanks "Holluwai".
All the best everyone.

Dear Seller,

8 days down the line after my initial inquiry and follow-up email asking for your pricelist, no feedback still. Not even an acknowledgment of email received. And this is the way you want to do business?

I wish you all the best in your sales. Im moving on to other sellers.

Have a good day

Can SA bound travelers acces Travelex at the airport

As far as i know, there's a Travelex located inside the arrival lounge of OR Thabo Airport in Johannesburg. And it stays opened until 11pm at night.
You can convert foreign currencies into Rands there. I doubt if they will accept Naira

I was granted 3 Months SA visa but i couldn't travel with it. Although, i have been to SA twice. What's my chance of getting another visa when i want to renew the said visa i didn't honor? I need your assistance on this.

Nobody has visa assurance or monopoly. It's solely at embassy's discretion. That being said, nothing will affect your chances of being issued a visa just because you never used the previously-issued one. Just write a letter explaining circumstance surrounding reasons why you couldn't take the trip and why the right time is now.

Hello everyone.
Any idea of a hotel with refundable rates.
I plan to book just for my visa and then cancel later

You can try City Lodge, Town Lodges or Road Lodges.

Here's their website: https://clhg.com/

Last time I checked, you can get a refund provided you cancel no later than 2 weeks to arrival date.

This was in today's papers ( Times Newspapers) At least, govt is doing something about this.

Cops in 'reign of terror' on foreigners
Pretoria Central police are alleged to have unleashed a reign of terror on foreigners, targeting them in a string of assaults, robberies, thefts and kidnappings for ransom.
According to the victims' sworn statements, submitted to police watchdog, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, members a Pretoria Central unit would tail victims to their home, where they would assault them while other officers searched for valuables.

Cameroonian Said Nassoro told investigators that in April last year he was accosted by two police officers in the Pretoria CBD. He said he was assaulted and pepper-sprayed before being bundled into a marked police car, a BMW sedan. He was driven to his Arcadia flat where a laptop and R150,000 were stolen.

Ipid spokesman Robbie Rabu-rabu said Nassoro was then detained at a police station.

"According to [Nassoro], the police officers searched his bedroom and took R50,000 and moved to the lounge where they took R100,000 in cash and his girlfriend's laptop from the cupboard," he said.

Raburabu said Constables DM Mohlala and MV Manyase, as well as Sergeant LJ Mashishi, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on April 25 on charges of assault and robbery in connection with the Nassoro incident. They are each out on R2000 bail.

Raburabu said that in another incident, in July last year, Nigerian Anthony Izundra was assaulted and robbed of $60500, allegedly taken from his hotel room by police officers who followed him from a bank.

He was accused of carrying forged documents and detained for hours before being released.

Raburabu said police reservists Peter Molobo and Victor Moloisi appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on February 25 on charges of robbery and assault. They are out on R2,000 bail each.

Raburabu said the directorate was investigating at least 31 of the 70 reported cases, and that some of the crimes dated back to 2013.

He said the cases included kidnapping, with foreigners being detained and ransom demanded from their relatives.
