open the bracket 2x² + 4x + x + 2 < 3x + 2
collect like terms =2x² + 4x + x - 3x < 2-2 =2x² + 2x < 0 =2(x² + x) < 0

I actually used this method but you are not simplifying
2x²+2x<0 2x(x+1)<0 2x<0 x<0-------1 if x+1<0 then x<-1-----2
