Architects vs Draftsmen, differences, similarities and more

1. Education

The educational requirements for architects and draftsmen are different, and this information reveals what you may anticipate from each of them.
Architecture is considered to be one of the most difficult courses in the world, and architects must complete 5–7 years of undergraduate study, preferably with a master’s degree, in order to seek their license. No one is a licensed architect until they are one.

Although formal schooling is not necessary for drafting, earning a bachelor’s degree in drafting in 0–4 years may help you get employment more quickly. So formal education cannot be considered to be “not required” for drafting.

Even things as little as getting to know relevant languages in the field of architecture something not to be neglected.

2. License

As we already established, you cannot call yourself an architect unless you have a license. This ensured that before you are allowed to make changes to your surroundings, you must pass a thorough examination of your knowledge of architecture and your local environment, including building codes.

Although draftsmen are really not obliged to obtain licenses, they virtually always need to see architects to have their work reviewed and stamped.

3. Kind of Work

An architect typically serves as the project manager, designing , drafting (including working drawings ), supervising, and engineering a construction project. He receives the client’s instructions and uses a variety of factors to create high-quality, long-lasting designs that assure effective space organization, good flow, etc.

An architect is responsible for obtaining building permits, providing the contractor with pertinent information during construction, resolving code violations, and many other tasks. His level of education and licensing make this possible.

On the other hand, an architectural draftsman focuses on the drawing portion of the architect’s job. Technical design drawing is his area of expertise. He is typically depicted working with architects on construction projects.

4. Internship
Prior to taking their appropriate examinations to obtain licenses, aspiring architects must complete an internship of two to three years with a qualified architect.

Draftsmen are not needed to complete an internship, unlike architects.
