A failed campaign no doubt. Putin will definitely claim victory for ego sake. But even a child knows that the main aim which was regime change and a take over of Ukraine to install his puppet as the Ukraine leader failed spectacularly.

Its unfortunate lives were lost, but with the quantum of support Ukraine has been able to garner, the rebuild will be sponsored by massive funds from the west, and Ukraine might come out stronger. For sure, Putin had just helped Ukraine to get a stronger military, because the west will now donate more weapons to them and build a stronger defence force.

Ukraine is too big to control all its territory even if the Ukraine army surrenders. Russia will need serious manpower on ground. That is why they took the most strategic locations in the south which already have the Russian rebels in control, access to the Black sea effectively making Ukraine a landlocked country, demilitarizating them etc.
