It has a settings where you’d choose the battery type for yourself. In this case of a LifePo4 battery, you’d choose either “3.2-4” or “3.2-5”. One of them is meant for your lithium ion battery depending on the serial number.

Even if you picked the wrong one from the 2 options, the controller would alert you about it (E11 error), so therefore you can proceed to change it to the other option, and you are good to go.

Overall, it’s a good controller if you ask me though. But if you have the money for an MPPT, you can try it.

I have both PWM and MPPT. But the MPPT has an edge (A higher input) on the same setup.

It can’t. You’ll regret it. Solar is no longer cheap.

You can save up and buy a good Solar Generator.

Hi, experienced folks,

I have an Africell Solar panel of 180Watts but my PWM (I have done all the correct settings on it) shows that this panel does not output anything beyond 90Watts (14.4V and 6Amps) on a peak sunlight . This is 50% efficiency. Infact it goes lower at some point.

My question is, could this be from my PWM controller? Is it limiting the output from the panel to that very low value ?

If I decide to get an MPPT controller, will there be a positive difference?

Or should I just add another panel?

Oh interesting. It’s a LifePO4 battery and I have changed the “battery type” settings from “5-3.2” to “4-3.2” I.e for a LifePo4 battery, and right now the error is gone. But I guess I have done this b4 and the error managed to come back then. I am still novice to Solar anyways.

If this fault is from the PWM controller or battery I can’t really tell too.

Now, let's get serious.

The truth is, solar inverter is a necessary evil that inevitably awaits anybody that values his comforts, productivity and wants cost-savings.

This because as long as you remain in this country, it is only a matter of time before the cycle of epileptic power supply either catches up with your area or they move your area to "Bandit A" and you will begin to wonder whether someone is putting hands into your pocket and zapping your resources through power bills. By then, you may then have to cough out x2 of your current budget to achieve what you could have achieve today.

Personal story: Last October, it cost 450k to convert my SUV to use CNG at NIPCO station. The money sounded very big and I disapproved it further by saying fuel was just 400+/litre, so why spend 450k to convert my car. I was so foolish...

Fast forward today, I spend nearly 200k every single month on fuel even though I drive sparingly. CNG conversion is now a whooping 950k, with serious shakara and lobbying. I am full of deep regrets for not doing it last year. By now, i would have finished bleeding off the 450k and recouped it through cost-savings

Very true. I totally agree. I can’t regret my decision cos my money is invested. I just hope I can raise another money to get an inverter system soonest b4 the prices gets worse off.

First of all, your budget is fine as long as the load you are trying to power is very basic and you have energy saving appliances. Posting it here would help so proper advice can be given.

Also, take the advice of the serious people who are trying to help you here and contact Valto and Linov8 for quotes.

I was discouraged by the prices. Moreover there is light in my area to an extent. Instead I add on top the money go buy land in one area of Ogun state. I’m now a landlord instead of a solarlord.

Relax, this is what he loves doing. He has enough money and sense. He is successful. He has travelled far and wide and has played for the biggest teams in the world. But he still loves to play football.

If you find something you love, it’s hard to let go especially when you can still do it. Coming back to Kano Pillars is a good way to end it.
