Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi, the Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has expressed delight over the smooth transition of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Elujoba, to the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede in OAU. Dr. Ogunbiyi, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, made this known at the inauguration of the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Ile-Ife, on Wednesday in Ile-Ife, Osun State. “I am particularly delighted that this day has finally come to pass, a day in which we all present to witness the peaceful inauguration of a substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede,” Ogunbiyi added. He further expressed satisfaction that the selection process was adjudged fair, transparent and accepted by all. Dr. Ogunbiyi said that in spite of the tremendous pressure from the political arena and the influential people in the society, the council did not yield to their pressure. “The council decided to do the best and resist the oppressors, who came to influence the selection,” he said. The pro-chancellor commended the efforts of the out gone acting vice-chancellor for creating a conducive atmosphere for the exercise. According to him, the inauguration of the new V-C marked the beginning of new era in the history of the institution. Dr. Ogunbiyi congratulated the new V-C for his doggedness during the selection exercise, while congratulating him, charged him to sustain the confidence of both the members of staff and students on him. The chairman appreciated the search team and the members of the council for the success on the emergence of the new V-C. Earlier in his valedictory speech, the out gone acting vice-chancellor expressed heart-filled appreciation to all the members of staff for the overwhelming acceptance that led to his election by the Senate of the university to act, as directed by the Federal Government. Prof. Elujoba charged the new V-C to enforce obedience and absolute compliance to rules and regulations “with the principle of doing things right, thereby encouraging discipline in both staff and students.” He declared: “I did not steal one kobo of anybody rather I donated personal cash into the endowment fund of the university and settled all my bills before leaving the office as the acting V-C.” “I was picked up to be acting V-C like David and fished out like Moses and I am handing over to the Joshua of the moment, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede. “And as he is John the Baptist, God will use him in double portion of my own anointing while like Gideon, I say to you Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede “go in thy might”, Elujoba. Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, in his address said he was delighted at the inauguration of the V-C, adding, “today marks the beginning of a new dawn in the history of the university”. Ogunwusi warned that people should be conscious of whatever they did in life because posterity would always be the judge. “There is no single soul that will not give an account of his deed in life and what recommendation will people give after leaving the post,” the Ooni said. The royal father thanked the governing council of the institution for not compromising in the selection of new V-C. Prof. Ogunbodede, the new V-C, appreciated those who contributed in ensuring his emergence as the 11th substantive vice-chancellor of the institution. Prof. Ogunbodede, who acknowledged the transparency of the governing council during the selection, pledged that he would strive hard to ensure that the university was taken to greater heights. He appreciated the efforts of Ooni of Ife for his intervention at all times whenever there was crisis and his fatherly role he had been playing in resolving issues on campus. The V-C promised to rigorously follow up on all his promises in his manifesto, especially on the welfare of members of staff and students. http://www.vevo.com.ng/2017/06/prof-ogunbodede-appointed-as-oau-11th.html Get more news on schools news, scholarships, admissions and educative info, visit http://vevo.com.ng

The belief that all you need in Jamb is to pass has thoroughly been debunked. This can be reflected in a situation where you see candidates who score around 240 are not offered admission to study their desired course. Hence the need to score high. This brings us to the reality that passing Jamb alone (Scoring 180 to 200) is not enough. What matters now is how high you can score. The higher you score, the more your chance of getting admitted to study your course of choice. In this article, I will not touch the exact score you need to be sure of admission. I have already treated that in my recent post on Jamb score that will guarantee you admission . Now, lets see how to read And Score High in Jamb: 1. Read Points The reason why so many candidates fail Jamb is that they read too hard. It sounds ironically, right? But you don’t need to read hard. All you need is to read wise. Go through the Jamb syllabus and point out the hot topics. For example, the Jamb mathematics syllabus doesn’t require you to learn inverse of 3*3 matrix. Learning it means that you are off point. Reading off point is the number one reason why very intelligent students fail Jamb examination. Do not read out of point. 2. Constant Reading I hear Jamb candidates say, “I have finished this subject, no need to focus on it”. It is not the right attitude towards learning. With every passing week, go through all your subjects over and over again. With this, the points will be clearer to you. The reason why you should constantly go through your subjects is that it helps you refresh the ideas. Else, you will forget a whole lot of things in the jamb exam hall. 3. Put Down High Score Points As you study for Jamb, ensure to put down the key points in your rough note. When the exam gets very close, revise the point all over again. This has been dealt with in my post on how to prepare for an exam overnight. 4. Don’t Just Read Calculation Courses Do not just read calculation courses. Make sure you pick a pen, calculator and rough sheet. For every topic you learn, solve at least 20 questions. 5. Don’t Assume Never assume that you know any topic. Test yourself whether you really understand it. 6. Avoid Procrastination Later things. This is the language of procrastinators. Avoid the use of such language and get back to work. 7. Study Effectively Effective study means that you actually gained something from what you have studied. As you read, ask yourself, “what have I learnt so far?”. Telling yourself the truth is honesty. 8. Ask Questions Do not keep quiet. When you come across what is difficult to you. Quickly seek help. 9. Study Long It is true that life not all about duration but donation. However, most effective studies are functions of time. Spend quality time to study. 10. You Need Mentor Mentor is someone that has written Jamb and gained admission to study his desired course. You need guide from a mentor. culled from VEVO http://www.vevo.com.ng/2017/05/secrets-in-reading-for-jamb-to-score.html

Abia state. And as you can clearly see, it's a mess right now. It's overly flooded, and there's constant stagnant water, forcing shop owners to abandon their shops. The people in the area say it's due to bad road and bad drainage system. They are begging their govt to look into it for them. More photos after the cut... https://yabaleftonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Uzor-Killed.jpg Some policemen have allegedly shot dead an engineer, Chinedu Uzor, during an altercation at a checkpoint in Sperando Junction, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. PUNCH Metro learnt that the leader of the police team, Inspector Agbo Onwe, had been arrested and detained at the command headquarters, Abakaliki. It was gathered that on Sunday, July 19, Uzor, a mechanical engineer, was returning from a club with a friend, whose name had yet to be identified, when they got to a checkpoint at the Presco area. It was learnt that 33-year-old Uzor reportedly zoomed past the policemen but stopped at another checkpoint at Sperando Junction. It was learnt that the policemen at Presco, however, came after him to Sperando and shot him in the head and chest. A witness was said to have contacted the family, after which he rushed the engineer to a nearby hospital where he died. Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Uzor’s wife, Nkiruka, said she was expecting her husband on Sunday when she was called on the telephone that he had been shot and hospitalised. She said: “They were two in the vehicle. They were returning from a social club in the area. It was not his first time of going. His custom was to drop his friends, who were not mobile, to their respective houses. “On that Sunday, I called his phone, but he did not pick. I called another person who was at the meeting; he said they just dispersed. It was not up to an hour that a man called me from a hospital and asked whether I knew a man, Chinedu. I replied that he was my husband. “He said my number was his last call, and he was now in the hospital. So, I went there. But he was injured badly, and minutes later, he died. I want justice on this matter. I am a university student. He has aged parents that he cared for. We do not have any child yet.” An eyewitness said Uzor’s head was blown open by the bullets and his brain tissues spilled out. He said, “The man was driving back home, and he saw those men dressed in mufti flagging him to stop. For fear that they might be robbers, he did not stop. When he got to another checkpoint where uniformed policemen were, he felt safe to stop. “While he was explaining himself to the officers, the guys in mufti from Presco arrived and shot him on his head at close range. He was rushed to a specialist hospital where he died.” The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, Anyanwu Chibuike, confirmed the arrest of Onwe, adding that the matter was being investigated at the State Department of Criminal Investigations. He said, “The state command will not cover up any form of such action. There was a similar incident some time ago, and the policeman involved is now in prison. In this particular incident, the leader of the team is in detention. “The bullets have been retrieved, and they are being subjected to ballistic forensic investigations. The case is being investigated at the SCID. It is unfortunate.” http://www.badolee.com/policemen-kill-mechanical-engineer-at-checkpointphoto/ |
