yea Baoule and Agni understand each other perfectly, i think just the accent is different
Ebrie is close to Akye, it has almost nothin to do with agni, nzima...
Abbey i thought was close to attie cuz they sound alike, cant tell the difference when they sing, however it's a total different language

i thought Ebrie was close to Adjoukrou because they are neighbor! and i thought also Akye is close to Abbey

when MEIWAY sing there are a few baoule expressions in it, i understand some too
it's a bit like spanish and portuguese, there are some similarities between the 2, but they are still different from one another
My mum is from Tiebissou, she can't understand appolo
so maybe it depends also of the region, cause there are different variant of baoule language.
i know baoulé can understand agni and for appolo maybe southern baoulé(toumodi) can understand very well, ebrie is very différente i don't understand any words and you?

Sybellah: also i have a question for u? smiley

how well can an Abron understand Baoule?
Nzema and Baoule seems close, but they say Baoule cannot understand Nzema and that it's easier for Nzema to understand Baoule than the contrary
Also, some say Aboure also can understand Baoule, but Baoule do not understand them. Have u heard of these statements?
Abron can't understand Baoulé very well, but we can understand Agni Bona, Bini, Juablen and Ndénian but not very well Morofoé and Sanwi, and for Nzema and Baoulé, i would say Baoulé can understand Nzema too because my best friend is Baoulé from mbahiakro and she can understand a little when meiway sing, i would say the same for abouré but i am not sure.

have u met an aowin person before?
i never met aowin before, but there is so many thinks about akan on web, maybe sefwi speak baoulé and agni because i look a map on web and the ghanian akan who live near our borders are sefwi, aowin and appolo (nzema), do you met a sefwi before?

Sybellah:

ooh really? i have not heard this one yet, i have a document where they actually say the akye are a mix of aowin, ebrie and other ethnicities
so far for the baoule, i have read in some docs that they were descending from the alanguira, and in others from the ashanti.
They were twi speakers before, but while migrating they settled within different villages (sefwi, agni,...) before reaching their actual location. This is why their language have changed, cuz of adaptation within other cultures smiley
Baoule is somewhat close to sefwi in Ghana tho.
ok because i read on web that agni baoulé come from aowin, and aowin is a small people in ghana who live near ivorian borders
Culture / Re: Akan Of Ghana And Cote D'ivoire by ivoqueen: 10:41am On Feb 06, 2013
Sybellah:

uumh so basically, all the different akan groups in ghana speak twi, and the differences are based on the accents and some few expressions?
it's different from our side, tho Akye is akan, it's totally unintelligible with ebrie, agni or baoule for example. Most of the Akan group are kinda unintelligible among themselves, except for baoule-agni, agni-abron and nzema-agni that are about 75% intelligible. Akye have their own language, and within it there are some variations in accents and expression depending on the region and the people surrounding them. Have u heard of the Aowin in Ghana? How close r they from the ashanti or other twi speaking people?
i read that agni and baoule are aowin descent, so maybe they don't speak twi, i think agni, baoulé and aowin speak the same language
